Most people evaluate this trade using the relative value of Wilson vs Patterson prior to last season. Wilson's value was quite high coming into the season and frankly, the Wilson seller probably could have got a fair deal more than Patterson. Only Wilson getting hurt has tipped the scales. Yes, it has worked to the advantage of the team getting Patterson but is, by no means, a "sell high" of Wilson, sinply because Wilson had far more "perceived" value than Cordarelle.

ESPN New York previously reported that Wilson has already begun weightlifting and working out, adding that there's no reason to believe the 22-year-old won't be playing in 2014. Definitely not getting to excited for it, but it seems that taking a gamble on him may not have been so bad after all. I traded 2.5 and JStew for him earlier this week when I saw the news of him being ahead of schedule. There's still alot of unknown with him right now, but if he is ready for camp, I'll feel really good about my RBs on this team.

as a giants fan and someone who watches pretty closely, I'd agree with this sentiment.That said, there's an underlying notion that maybe he can take a hit - just not THAT many and he's more of a KR and change of pace back at most rather than a not too big guy who can still carry the load.

As for the attitude thing, Coughlin needs to back off. Stop giving the guy grief in the media for caring too much. Pass protection certainly can be learned. But it's another question mark about Wilson, who really doesn't need any more red flags. The Giants did, after all, have a street free agent playing ahead of Wilson last year in passing situations prior to the neck injury. Wilson fits the profile of a guy I'd normally be buying low -- but in my leagues, at least, residual 2013 hype seems to have kept the kool aid flowing for his owners.

Well Jahvid Best is out of football so not sure i get your point.

The point is still legit. Just like I'd rather have Wilson over Red Grange, mainly because Red Grange has been dead for over 20 years. Being dead is a worse injury than neck fusion too.

Even if Wilson's neck gains full clearance, he may not have a real chance at feature back duties. The Giants have added Rashad Jennings, a prototypical Coughlin back in that he doesn't make mistakes, to fill that role. It's possible Wilson will have to rev back up as a kick returner and change-of-pace runner, earning more and more carries if he can put up error-free tape.

To me that doesn't make much sense for the Giants or Johnson. The Giants have Jennings, Wilson and Hillis on the roster right now. Why add Johnson to muddle things up even more? And why would Johnson want to go there knowing he's going to have to fight for carries.
