Dear Mr. McNabb (1 Viewer)

Chunky Soup

Footballguy
I had it out for you just a few weeks ago. I was wrong on many accounts:

- You are still mobile

- You can make some pretty good decisions out there

- You are throwing with decent accuracy and great zip

- Your receivers aren't getting open

- Philly is being hard on you

- You + Westbrook + some new players can open this team's window up again for a championship

Stay classy, healthy, and hopefully not chunky. Also get Philly to bring in CJ, Moss or Walker. TIA.

i dont think its sarcasm at all... McNabb looked alot more mobile this time around than he has all year which is the key to his success. makes it a bit harder of a decision for me now to start him against NO or warner vs ATL ...dammit...

I hope he leaves and wins a ring for his new team. The way the Philly fans have treated him is shameful.

I don't like McNabb, at all. Seems he's always whining and crying about something. He also chocked in the SB. That being said, I like the Eagles fans even less. I think he deserves better, and hope he does find a new team next year, and has success there.

i took a deep breath on that Roy Williams horse collar tackle but luckily he got his legs out from under himself just in time.

McNabb looked good yesterday.. hoping his first multi TD game in about 6 weeks comes this sunday..

as a philadelphia fan and living in the area. it is not mcnabb that the fans have it out for so much. it is andy reid and his horrendous west coast offense playcalling. mcnabb just happens to be andy reid's mancrush so mcnabb gets caught up in all the hatred.

Give me a break, I wish you would give some examples on how the shameful eagles fans have treated McNabb. Every QB in the league is under some kind of criticism. Donnie Mac has been awful this year, and if I remember the Eagles only scored 10 points yesterday. Donnie Mac brings alot of it on himself. He has never really embraced Philadelphia and he is always looking for excuses for his failures. His time has past, he just isnt that good.

If Jay Cutler gets hurt, and Patrick Ramsey comes in and plays very well, people in Denver won't be calling for Jay Cutler's head. McNabb has been, thoughout his career, better than Cutler, (and I'd argue that Ramsey is better than A.J. Feeley and Koy Detmer), but every time his backups play well, people call for McNabb's head. In any other city, McNabb would be embraced by all the fans as a stud QB and the heart of that franchise, but in Philly, it's like he's just keeping the seat warm for the backup du jour.I really think that this article written after week 1 sums it up pretty nicely.

I wouldn't mind the Bears giving him a one-year or two year deal and drafting a QB who could learn from him. McNabb would be a step up. I thought Rex was OK, but his injuries have soured me on him. Time to move on and end the experiment.

So what, what QB in Philly hasnt been booed. When the eagles drafted QB Kevin Kolb in this years draft I recall he got booed too. Do you think 9 years from now he will still be crying over being booed on draft day , like Donnie Mac has for the last 9. I also recall last year Garcia got hurt in a game and the fans were cheering and calling for Feeley to get in the game. In Philly if you produce they love you, if you stink you get booed. Donnie Mac has thin skin. Terrell Owens had it right with his opinions on Donnie Mac.

Yeah, and the Denver fans didnt want Plummer run out of town. Keep it real, Donnie Mac isnt a 2 year starter with untapped potential like Cutler. Donnie Mac has been in the league for 9 years and it looks like his best days are gone.

:lmao: You can't be serious.
Do you live in the Philly area? I do , and I can tell you that over the last 9 years a hell of a lot more people have supported him than not. Every year the philly fans are hoping for the eagles to get better wr's for Donnie Mac instead of getting another QB. The eagle fans booed the Kevin Kolb pick.

Yes, some Denver fans wanted Plummer run out of town despite three good seasons to start his Denver career. They were wrong, too. But that's a completely different situation, too- Plummer was a good QB, but McNabb is a GREAT QB. Even comparing the situations highlights the lack of respect that McNabb receives.

I understand what you are saying, I personally never thought Donnie Mac was a great QB because I thought he was just too inconsistant, but that could be argued. I have always believed he was a very good QB, but the injuries are taking a toll on him now, and for the last 2 years he has been down right awful. Granted this year hasnt been alll his fault, the offensive line has been very suspect this year, but he really looks like a player on the fast decline too me. I think a change to another team might do him good. I dont understand the lack of respect. Great QB's are HOFer's which the current qb's playing would be Favre, Manning and Brady. I do not believe Donnie Mac is great or a HOFer. if he was great for 9 years maybe, but having 2 great years doesnt make you great. So if you see that as a lack of respect for Donnie Mac so be it.

Yeah, that's where Super Bowl championships come from in today's NFL. Brady, Farve, Manning, Roethlesberger -- potentially Brees, Romo, Anderson -- running QB's who can't hit receiver beyond the contact-allowed zone.

What WRs has McNabb had to hit beyond the contact-allowed zone? Thrash and Pinkston? In his one season with a legitimate #1 WR, he completed 64% of his passes.

Plummer was 32 and the Broncos needed a to find a new QB - very different from the situation in Philly.

Donnie Mac is on his way to 31 and injuries are a serious concern. I think drafting a QB was a good move. I dont think the situation in Philly is that different considering that McNabb's contract will now become an issue.

Anyone not named Tom Brady or Peyton Manning would be the definition of inconsistant. What's really funny to me is the fans give Reid and McNabb all the hatred, and anger. Philly was great with Owens, and good with Stallworth, do they go out and get a decent WR? No, they prefer to waste their Good QB, Great RB, and fairly stout Defense. Philly fans deserve what they get in professional sports.

:lmao: :praying: Oh please Lord, we beseech thee. :lmao:

Whoever mentioned Minnesota:

Man, that would be a good fit. Fans there are desperate for a winner, and aren't a pack of wolverines (I say that with affection, Philly fans). he would have fan support.

Solid line, the next stud back, and an up and coming D. Not great receivers, but McNabb dosn't have to throw it 50 times a game to win in Minny. Really an attractive situation for any free agent QB.

i dont think its sarcasm at all... McNabb looked alot more mobile this time around than he has all year which is the key to his success. makes it a bit harder of a decision for me now to start him against NO or warner vs ATL ...dammit...
yeah, its amazing what a guy will do when he knows he's auditioning for other teams , for next year and beyond...he looked like he was trying to make the statement , I'm going to look great in Minnesota next season!"
What a great fit. Instant Super Bowl contender with him taking away 8-9 man fronts against Peterson. Vikes then get some secondary help and I would be very excited if I were a Vikes fan.

And he knows Childress' terminolgy - great fit. There are a ton of chucklehead Eagle fans - and yes I live here. Most of those who wanted Feely to play the rest of the way have wisely shut up by now - but not all of them. of course, some of them don't watch the games, either.Basically, there are segments of Eagles fans that won't get behind a QB like McNabb. It could be due to the fact he runs, it could be because he's black, it could be because he's not a lunchpail kind of guy, it could even be that he's not Ricky Williams - I know someone who's convinced the Eagles would've won Super Bowls with Ricky, and that he only got on the weed because of the party atmosphere in New Orleans. I think most (60% or so) Eagles fans want McNabb & Reid gone - they didn't win the Super Bowl, so it's time to find someone who might do that. It will take a few really crappy years before those Philly fans appreciate this coach & QB and what they acheived.

LMAO, you make this easy! How about when the Philly fans Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo'd him when they announced his name for their draft pick. Thank you, move on...nothing to see here. :useless:
Do you know how many players are booed at the draft? LOts are! Take a look at some New York teams. :useless:

First of all McNabb was not booed at the draft. Who or what was booed on draft day was the Eagles organization, not McNabb. Philly is a town that loves ground and pound football. They wanted Ricky Williams in the worst way, even the Mayor and now Governor was trying to influence the Birds into taking Williams. Well guess what? The actual people that get paid millions of dollars to make football decisions were correct.

Philly quickly grew to love McNabb and there is not doubt about that. Of course he has been booed and you know why that is ?? Philly expects the best from their athletes. When they know a player can deliver "A" type performances they will be happy with "C & D" performances.

Its clear that many of you do not understand football any further then the fantasy football articles you read or what you hear from Troy Aikman on a Sunday. McNabb has (and has always had) some major issues when it comes to his game. You can ignore these faults if you like but its very clear.

McNabb:

Does not make quick enough decisions in the passing game. There is a reason the Eagles offense looks crisper with a far less talented QB like Garcia or Feely

He lacks the ability to make the anticipatory throw

Continues to be a very inaccurate passer

Sadly he has only played 3 complete seasons in his 8 years of being a starter

And there are only about 7 or 8 other QBs I would rather have

The deal with McNabb is simple. He's was never a great passer - and what he lacked with his arm, he made up with his legs, albeit begrudginly. I believe in his case its a pure lack of confidence. Now that he's lost a step you are hearing the fans murmur.

When T.O. was here, I never seen him throw more balls perfectly in stride. Now he's back to skipping balls, throwing behind WR's, at their ankles, etc.

Personally, I believe he's on the downside - I don't think there is ANYONE that watches the Eagles would disagree. He is the best that the Eagles have. But the problem is not only with McNabb. If they get good value for him in a trade, I won't be dissapointed - but I don't see it happening.

So, the best thing I can hope for the McNabb and the Eagles organization is that they get some offensive weapons, NOT named Westbrook, to help BOOST McNabb's confidence so I don't have to agonize over more bad passes.

Maybe the McNabb clan should move back to Dalton so they could get greeted as warmly as they did the first time around :pickle: Get off your high horse idiot. The events he encountered as a child in the Chicago area are most likely the reason he is hyper-sensitive to the "black quarterback" issue.

 Exactly, well said.

As a life-long Eagles fan, I'm getting really fed up with the larger proportion of Eagles fans.

If McNabb ends up in Minnessotta next year, I might just change my colors. I've lived in Virginia for 14 years now anyway.

Funny how last year everyone was talking about how McNabb had the best looking deep ball in the game.

Fans in more then a dozen NFL citys are holding their collective breathes PRAYING Philly is stupid enough to let McNabb go elsewhere, starting with New York, Washington, and Dallas, followed closely by Minnessota, Chicago, San Francisco, and Miami.

Eagles fans...wake up before we spend another ten years in QB hell.

I'll start by saying that there are NO better options in Philly right now other than McNabb. Feeley is an inconsistent backup at best and Kolb is a rookie from a weak football school. So, while Kolb may be the future, the NFL has a long history of QBs like Kolb that take time to develop (especially while learning a complicated offense).

With that said, McNabb will never bring a championship to Philly, period. If he couldnt do it with that '04 team, he wont do it with any other Eagles team in the foreseeable future. So, unless he plans to go on the R Clemens workout program and play til he's 50, the Eagles have no choice but to start looking elsewhere. That may mean some lean years, but so be it if the team ends up better off down the road (hopefully not too far down the road)

Second point: How does the Eagles group of "pedestrian" WRs look SO good with McNabb out? While they're certainly not all pros, Curtis and Brown are decent NFL caliber WRs. McNabb is just so overly cautious about making a mistake, that he doesnt take any chances. Its not just this year to look at with regards to this point, as last year was further proof of this fact. Only TO, perhaps the greatest WR in the game today (talent wise), could make McNabb look spectacular via the pass.

As much as i would like to see McNabb stay and win in Philly, he is so mentally fragile that I personally see no other way than to part with him at the end of the year

Plummer was 32 and the Broncos needed a to find a new QB - very different from the situation in Philly.
It is?McNabb WAS a great starting QB...he no longer is.He's always complaining about something and gives excuses too often. McNabb has been so far in management's pockets over the years that he eventually lost a lot of respect in the locker room. Add in his limited mobility the last few seasons to his questionable accuracy and you now have a mediocre starting NFL QB. Good luck to whatever team adds this injury riddled signal caller next season. At this stage he's more Steve McNair of the last few seasons than the old McNabb imo.

mcnabb didn't look that good at all vrs the cowboys, he consistantly held on to the ball way to long and is afraid to throw it unless a guy is wide open. He made some bad decesion vrs the Cowboys and if the Eagles defense didn't do what they did and say the eagles lost 17-10, we would be talking about how bad it was out there offensively. Westbrook is the real deal and the leader of this team and McNabb should take a few pages out of the westbrook playbook. These pages would be called "class act"

In Philly if you produce they love you
Yeah, because they treated <arguably> the greatest 3rd baseman ever with such love that he felt compelled to take the field with a disguise.
Mikey was booed because of one reason...The guy hit over 500 home runs and maybe 10-20 of them where in the clutch. The guy would come up lame in every big spot I can remember. Sorta sounds like some schlub that plays for the Yankees now.

I have no idea why McNabb wouldn't do his damnedest to get the Hell out of Philly in the off-season.

McNabb looked good yesterday.. hoping his first multi TD game in about 6 weeks comes this sunday..
McNabb has a greater probability of throwing zero TD's than he does of throwing multiple TD's this year.Philly has another long road trip this week against a team playing with playoffs in mind. The Eagles are primed for a let down after their emotional win against the Cowboys and they really have nothing to play for this week. Brees is hotter than a firecracker and will carve them up like a Christmas turkey.I really hope you have better options than McNabb this week, he's primed for a stinker.

Well McNabb was my top QB this draft. After what he did before the injury. He was rated above everyone before he got hurt. Now he is coming back, and that takes time. I really don't think the Eagles will get blown up this weekend. He keeps getting better and better....and while that still isn't good by any means, he is improving slowly. I am in the super bowl this weekend and he is going to win me the championship. Look for him next year, unless the eagles listen to you guys and get rid of him.
