Demarco Murray - Your honest assessment (1 Viewer)

He better be good. I just gave up the house for him.The following trade has been accepted, and is awaiting commissioner review:Kaunas Buckeyes gave up:Wells, Beanie ARI RBBrown, Antonio PIT WRYear 2013 Round 1 Draft Pick from Kaunas BuckeyesYear 2013 Round 3 Draft Pick from Kaunas BuckeyesYear 2013 Round 4 Draft Pick from Kaunas BuckeyesYear 2013 Round 5 Draft Pick from Kaunas BuckeyesDarth Ewing Colts gave up:Murray, DeMarco DAL RBYear 2012 Round 3 Draft Pick from Darth Ewing Colts
Holy Frijoles! :hophead:
 what have I done!
I'd love to know what the rest of your roster looks like, but i've seen you around here enough to know you're no dummy, and this move probably made sense. I think he's a RB1 going forward. I'd try and acquire his backup (whoever it may be, Felix or Tanner) because Murray did tend to get dinged though college. But all things considered, I'd be excited for the future if I were you.

My honest assessment of Murray is that I missed the mark big time on him.

Didn't think he was a starting caliber back coming out and largely ignored him in my rookie drafts.

He is going to regress as that 6.7 ypc is not sustainable, but the kid looks like a player.

I think he will be in the conversation in that tier just below the perennially elite guys for the next 4-5 years barring injury.

We can start 4 WR and Brown still wasnt seeing my lineup. My starters will now be Rodgers, Matthews, Murray, Fitz, Bowe, Bryant, Nicks, GrahamBackups include Freeman, Stewart, Tolbert, Cobb, Benn, Gates.I wanted to make a title run this year and needed that second strong RB to round out my lineup. The 16 team league means that 1st is really a second at best.

I drafted him in my Money Keeper league and traded him after his big week for Ray Rice. It was a good deal overall, but part of me thinks I may end up regretting giving him up, even for a player of Rice's caliber. Murray looks very good and as long as Romo is healthy I think he will be a monster this season.

I got him for Shonne Green and next years 1st.I think you might had overpaid......but I do understand where you're coming from. I think Murray IS the next great NFL back.

He has passed the early eye ball test short term but when I look at him from college, I remember the explosion kind of tapering off at the end the one year he was the feature back. He also must show better durability. He might be the next Steve Slaton. Buyers beware before you annoint him a perennial top RB.

Its kind of funny to me that we see so many posts where a guy like, say, Arian Foster rips up the league all year and threads are flooded with "If he does it again this year, then we will talk about him being a top back" and "He was injured a lot in college (which is widely a misnomer)", but a highly drafted kid has a good month and people are labeling him a top 5-7 RB for years to come.

Good luck, but it just might not come to be.

That's a scary roster Don. Very nice.

I think it's likely that Slaton was a product of the Texas OL. Murray has had great success running behind a line that Felix Jones was mediocre at best behind. Every single back running behind the Texas OL has exceeded expectations.

Even if these caveats about him being so good because he's fresh or that he tapered off after a full season are true, how does that change anything? He's not going to see a full season. He became the starter 7 weeks in, so all we get is his prime production period. Plus his schedule is pretty friendly. Dallas should be up big on Washington, Miami, AZ, and Tampa. And the Giants are pretty weak against the run. I like Murray to continue his production, even if his ypc do come down some.

misconception. a misnomer is an inaccurate name. "Injury-prone" could be a misnomer.

Traded Fred Jackson straight up because of the playoff schedule. I've clinched my spot and almost have the first round bye wrapped up.
bump, thinking about doing the same.thoughts?
I don't think you gain a lot either way. Both guys have performed well against very good defenses.
One guy's team is ascending. The other's team is descending.Give me the guy who's team is ascending.
