Demarco Murray (1 Viewer)

Is this a mirage? STL doesn't have the greatest run defense either.

Why was Murray so terrible at Oklahoma?
Are you on crack? He holds multiple OU records. All time leader in Touchdowns. What the hell did you take a puff of before you posted this?
I consider his last two years terrible. A 4.2 YPC in college?
his last year:282 carries

1214 rushing yards

71 receptions

594 receiving yards

20 touchdowns

that's terrible to you?

I've watched almost every OU game Demarco played. How many did you actually watched? Probably like two.Stop digging for stats to backup your argument. You're wrong.

Yes compared to past Oklahoma RB's

0 passing TDs?

I think if you're in dynasty you have to sell immediately. This could be the high water mark for his entire career. If i could snag a proven stud like a mojo or chris johnson for this guy I would take it.

Take away the 91 yard td run, and he only has 94 yards on 19 carries.
I'm stoked about his performance but we can't assume he will be the starter when Jones returns. If anything, Jones and Murray will cancel out each other in potential value.
You're insane. Felix has had years to do something. Dallas has has NO run game for years. Now Murray who they loved and said they "stole" in the draft has 230+ with 8 minutes to go? It's Murray's job. Hope you guys were smart and picked him up already.
its not a perfect world. coaches do not like admitting mistakes.

Chris Johnson is a stud this year?

interesting.who are in the long list of Sooner RBs that have been clearly better in recent history?also, how did he break so many records there?
Only reason Murray broke records was because he was a starter his freshman year and on and that was sort of rare. He didn't redshirt. Before Adrian Peterson, Quentin Griffin ran for 287 att's 1884 yds 15 TD's his last year.Billy Sims had better numbers also.

So he was good enough to start his freshman year when other RBs couldn't?

it shouldnt be an indictment of his ability that hes not as good as 2 of the greatest prospects of all time

Yeah, he was great at OU. Not AP great, but who else is?
Two different styles or RBs.AP = Bruiser like Jim Brown

Demarco = All purprose like Marshall Faulk
Yes, AP was like Jim Brown - bigger, stronger and faster. He was a man among boys. And while Murray was great, he wasnt in the sae league of the best college RBs of all-time like Faulk.

Wow you are awesome!Griffin, Peterson, and Sims. All three were absolute studs at OU and to be mentioned in the same arguement says a lot for Murray.Stop now, please. You're just digging a hole at this point.

it's days like this where I love going back to page 2 in this forum and reading my comments. Almost as good as going in the Felix Jones forum and reading my comments back from September there. Glad I took my own advice and got DeMarco on all of my teams.

Here's Rotoworld's take:

Carrying the load in place of an injured Felix Jones, rookie DeMarco Murray rushed for a Cowboys record 253 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-7 win over the Rams.

The third-round pick took his first carry of the day for a 91-yard touchdown and never looked back, easing by Emmitt Smith's old-team record of 237 yards from 1993. Murray's 253 yards are the most for any NFL running back this season, and just two fewer than Felix Jones has been able to rush for in five games. Murray's record-setting day did come against a truly pathetic Rams' run defense, but it's hard to see how the Cowboys will be able to go back to Jones as their bell-cow if Murray plays even half this well going forward. With the Eagles' inept run defense on tap for Week 8, another big week could be in the offing.

Take away the big TD and he has 9 carries for 21 yards. We need to temper expectations going forward just a bit.
I used to use this theory with Barry Sanders until I decided its a bad way to go about valuing players
Since we are clearly dealing with the next Barry Sanders.
Actually, you might be right. Did Barry ever put up over 250 rushing yards in a game?
he ran for over 300 multiple times at OSU. I think his best at Detroit was 237 or something like that. He had two 200 yard games in his 2000 yard season, but they were 215ish. His numbers at Oklahoma State were unreal though - he AVERAGED over 200 a game his Junior year.

That one year was enough for me to place him atop my all-time CFB RB rankings.

so because you think his numbers aren't quite at the level of a couple Heisman winners and arguably the best backs of their generations, Demarco sucks? wtf is your point here? This is all idiotic drivel. The guy is clearly talented, and clearly better than Felix Jones. that's all that really matters. what Billy Sims did in 1978 is completely and totally irrelevant.

Love the situation, love the talent. When Felix comes back it will be a RBBC. Earliest Demarco gets a shot at feature status is next year barring Felix going on the IR.

Flash in the pan. Stl this week and Phi next week. Sell high after next week or you'll be very very sorry later.

I tried like hell to trade him for a 1st rd pick (dynasty) and was turned down by everyone. This was as recently as this week. I think I'll keep him now, because I'm pretty sure He starts over Felix Jones when he comes back.

Man I hope you're right otherwise it will be a headache figuring out which one to start each week.

Gotta love CBS:

Murray did all of this against the worst team in the NFL against the run. With Felix Jones dealing with an ankle injury -- which could keep him out next week against Philadelphia -- Murray is looking like a solid RB option. The Eagles are allowing 123.8 rushing yards per contest this season and six touchdowns on the grounds this year. It also looks like Tashard Choice is falling out of favor in Dallas, adding to Murray's value. Fantasy owners should consider Murray a No. 2 RB option for Week 8.

AP. Freshman Marcus Dupree. Billy Sims.
recent history?didn't the Oklahoma offense Murray played in differ quite a bit from the one Billy Sims played in?
You could argue the offense AP played in was significantly different from the one Murray played in. Sims' was ancient.

yes.So, it seems pretty strange to argue that Murray was "horrible" compared to these HOF type backs who played in completely different eras and offensive systems.being good enough to start for 4 years at a program like Oklahoma is tough to make into a negative.

I've probably seen every carry of Murray's college career, and think this game was a Trung Canidate-like aberration.

Everyone makes bad calls. Murray was a stud at Oklahoma; he didn't grade out as a 1st round pick though. Being able to add opinions but man up when wrong is what makes for better posters. Otherwise, this place gets littered with piss-ant **** wagging contests.

Rams only had 7 in the box so they could stop the pass. I wouldn't jump on his bandwagon just yet. The Rams D is putrid without their #1,2 and 3 CB's.

This game was great, but if I can get him to perform as a low level rb2 going forward, I will be thrilled. I think he should project as a top 10 guy next week though
