Anybody have any insight here from watching the the HOU games?

Is he not playing in all the sub-packages, or is he still a step slow in recovering from the Achilles?

I noticed that he had some sort of bulky brace on one of his arms, probably for an elbow injury I'm guessing. I wasn't watching him closely, but I do remember him on a blitz and his timing and speed looked normal to me. The overall impression that I'm getting from the first 2 games is that they have some good players on defense, more than they've ever had before. I have also noticed that JJ Watt is taking away passing lanes with his long arms and the Texans seem conscious of this, he appears to spy somewhat on plays and take away lanes initially on some downs. I think that the line of thinking is that JJ can take away some quick throws causing the QB to hold the ball and giving the pass rushers more time to get there. JJ also gets pressure, but he seems really adapt at getting his hands up at the right time too. I think the first Kerry Collins fumble was a direct result of this in game 1, he was going to throw it then pulled the ball down because JJ was going to bat it back in his face. JJ also blocked a Dan Carpenter kick.

Demeco was being rotated a lot. They were taking it easy on him and not playing him in a lot of passing downs. I expect he will play a lot after the new Orleans game as he will play 4 run teams in a row, they might be subbing him in because of that schedule giving his arm and Achilles a break. I am benching him this week expect a big week after that.

:goodposting: Seeing it the same. The Texans' opponents haven't been good enough to sustain run drives on them and there are so many playmakers on the team it is getting divied out on the passing downs. I think as the season progresses and teams begin running more as they normally do due ot weather, etc, Ryans will be a solid/really good every week backer but its going to take a few weeks.

Houston is tied with Washington with the least amount of tackle ops 38.5, 11.2 below league average of 49.7. In Texans dime package Cushing was sole LB. Kubiak stated they are taking it easy on Ryans (elbow), however he could be part of a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" situation there as long as Cushing is playing well.

Houston could be in alot of dime this week.

According to PFF, both Cushing and Ryans played 40 snaps against Miami.

Just watched the NO HOU game on my DVR from this weekend. Demeco looked good. Completely different player. It was his first game without that big bulky elbow brace and he looked like the old demeco. However, I didn't see that green sticker on his helmet so I don't think hes wearing the transmitter yet. But by the way he played his past week I think he'll have it back real soon.

Just noticed this post.We notified PFF of this error last Wednesday and Sam Monson got it corrected sometime on Thursday. Don't remember the final snap count, but I think Cushing was out for just 5-6 snaps.

Based on what the Indy LB's did last week it seems like Ryans has a great matchup vs Pitt this week.

Am I reading this right?

How do folks anticipate the loss of Darryl Sharpton will lead to increased production from Ryans?

Is he relatively healthy at this point? Maybe close to returning to a full time player? Any info would be a help :)

he looked better this game than in awhile...With Sharpton out, Ryans is still not seeing many nickel snaps. Seemed to be replacing those with DBs versus LBs.

Anyone in the know have any idea on what us dynasty guys can expect of Ryans? I don't think I can keep him on my protected list and must expose him to free agancy after this year. Is it a small loss?

I'm not really in the know, but I can say this....I unloaded weeks ago and I haven't felt any remorse.

I still wonder if he's fully healthy yet. Or, if he is, could this be what "100% DeMeco" amounts to now post Achilles?

I have been a Ryan's owner since rookie year I finally traded him this year. Still think he has great potential but I think he might be going to a different team. I will try and get him next year of that happens. He needs a 4-3 he just isn't 3-4 material.
