Democratic Debate (1 Viewer)

I'd never vote for a socialist, but Sanders might be my favorite candidate remaining on either side. Just his authenticity and passion is refreshing, and I believe he means it when he talks about getting the big money out of politics. He strikes me as the kind of person we wish all politicians would be -- principled public servants. Hillary must hate having to stand next to someone like that. Damn phony old cow.
This is basically how I feel as well. Bernie (flawed as he may be) seems to genuinely want to make positive change. Every decision made and stance taken by Hillary over the past 40 years has been about personal advancement.

Just one man's opinion and maybe its unfair, but that's how it seems on the surface.

That being said, I think being president would kill Bernie. He's an old man.
Hillary's only like 4 years younger than he is. Probably kill her too.
Meh. Broads live longer.

Pretty confident Hillary will be running again 8 years from now if she doesn't win this time.

Is "electability" really a thing still? Clinton's favorability numbers are right in line with the "less crazy" GOPers not Trump.....what else is there to discuss?
Just by you poltical nuts who blow everything out of proportion.

A lot of normal, average people in this country think she's the best candidate available.
 I am asking why it is still being brought up....as in, it's not an issue (at least worth discussing).
It will be brought up less now that Bernie is pointing out the polls. Even Hillary said it isn't about elect-ability at one point tonight, if the polls were reversed she would be all over elect-ability. Even with the polls the media has been all over saying he isn't electable because they don't want him to to win. And it's worked as a lot of voters are noted to like Bernie but worried about him being electable, but he has overcome it.

This MSNBC panel and host are all from team Hillary - just bad work by the network.
bad for us, good for them. Guy just said his number 1 goal was campaign finance reform. What did you see during the commercials of the debate? Political advertisements.

Really enjoyed it. Still love Bernie but for the first time in a long time I feel like I could actually stomach voting for Hillary if I had to
:X

You didn't see the differences?
the de-regulation derivatives lie really pissed me off, I've been decided on Sanders or green party for a little while now but tonight almost wanted me to hate vote for Trump. I won't do that again, the one time I voted for a republican was Santorum the year he lost his senate seat. I was so pissed off Casey used dirty tricks to keep the Green party off the ballot, I went kamikaze in the voting booth that year.

Edit to add: Also don't like the DNC trying to rig it for Clinton, want my vote to be a choice not the party selecting the candidate for me.

Just thinking that, DWS saying that Hillary said she would break up the banks. Total bs.
I'm a life long Democrat who has despised DWS for a long long time - a total pariah on this party.
She annoys me more than any republican ever could. Think my hate started when interviewed about democrats changing their platform at convention to add "God" in it. They all lie but for most of them you often see hesitation or some kind of defensive maneuver but she's a pathological liar, there isn't a millisecond of hesitation and I find that beyond irritating.

Lots of people have wondered what these guys will attack first after elected. I know I've wondered. Bernie is going after campaign finance reform and immigration. Hillary is apparently going after everything. Doesn't seem very pragmatic on her part. Not sure why she can't just answer the question, even if it's a simple one like that.

What % of independents does Bernie have to win over to win the general election? Isn't the country only 10% independent and everyone else will vote according to party? I've got to say that Bernie seems incredibly earnest and forthright. I also love the lack of PAC money.

Plus he hates Wall St. and most big business.

Great post. After watching the entire debate last night it is so obvious the guy is genuine and stands for something. The problem I have is the bolded.

Too bad. I wish we had more candidates like him that represent more capitalistic ideals.

Some things I totally agree with him and like, but a lot of things (and things I feel are far too socialistic in nature) will not get done in the present state of our political system. If he indeed is elected as our President a lot of compromise will have to be employed to get anything done with the House and Senate.

It just means nobody has reached the donor level for her first priority yet.

Who knew that taking out that stiff O'Malley would allow Bernie and Hillary to take out their stuff. For two hours we watched Hillary try dirty dancing with an unwilling partner and we saw the passion out of an old man trying to send back a bowl of soup.

Here are some comments

- when it comes to anything genuine, Bernie has her beat badly, it's as if they aren't even playing the same game. Bernie believes everything he says and Hillary believes everything she says will get her elected. The two don't mix

- I love the fact that unlike every other candidate who sloshes down Poland Spring after Poland Spring, Bernie is chugging straight black coffee. It's 10:45 and he's got a pot of that gas station quality mud under his lector.

- Hillary on the other hand practically has Rachel Maddow under her lector the entire night

- for all the fireworks we got early, it seemed the old man got a bit tired and Hillary realized it wasn't playing well, so at some point they seemed to be exchanging spots underneath each other's lectors

- you can see the Melanoma growing on Bernie's head, if that isn't king to get him, the fact that he looks like he is about to go into cardiac arrest right on stage. He also looks like he has to pee the entire time, maybe cut back on that black mud a bit??

- when Bernie smiles I half expect his teeth to fall out

- When Hillary smiles I see that carnival game clown

- when it comes to foreign policy, Bernie is lost. It is not the lack of experience that bothers me, it is that he has absolutely no discernible policy or direction. The answer to Russia's land grab cannot be "income inequality", the answer to North Korea cannot be "deregulating the banks" and the answer to Saudi-Iranian feud cannot be Big Oil...well maybe that could have something to do with it

- Bernie makes people who follow Islam sound like they are a big antlered large deer. I get the Brooklyn accent is part of the charm but come on dude.

- you have to love that Hillary turns over her notes when she goes to take a wee. She treats them more carefully than she does classified information

- The contrast between a seasoned politician and a ideologue is pretty stark and as much as Hillary will fight I think we all believe that voting for her is a vote for the status quo...and that is not a bad thing at all

- glad to see Flint brought up, time for Obama to step in and treat this like the national crisis that it is, it is not his fault but if that were Bush, he would be getting killed for inaction. Time to step up and lead

- there is nothing lamer than the "would you choose him/her as your VP?" God, get over yourself MSNBC, we all know she is taking Ed Rendell and he is taking a moose

- I hope Chris Matthews and the rest of the MSNBC crew didn't hurt themselves (or each other) trying to get out from underneath Rachel Maddow and Chuck Todd's desk

- last note, when the thing ended it was odd to not see Old Bill coming out...wouldn't be shocked if he was stuck under an MSNBC intern's desk

Bill wasn't there because he was in negotiations to become Bernie's Sec of State.

Bill looks more senile than Bernie

Best post in this thread. There is no doubt what we're getting in Bernie.

Pretty much how I feel.

I think there SHOULD be different levels in our economy and $15 minimum wage, for example, is ridiculous. I love that in the USA you can work hard and improve your life/situation. You shouldn't get destroyed with taxes if you are successful.

Nope, never done.

However I think the msnbc'ers actually did a decent job.
Rachel Maddow MSNBC ‏@maddow

If/when GOP invites me and MSNBC to host a primary debate, rest assured I am definitely hugging those guys, too. #I'mAHugger

Honestly please:- MSNBC do the GOP debate

And

- Fox do the Dem debate.

And CNN can have Trump all to themselves.
