Dems lose again in GA (2 Viewers)

The problem is, overall, this makes the country worse. So we may win some more elections, but we damage the country in the meantime.
If they dont win any elections, is the country getting better with Trump and his cronies for the very rich 1% in office? Water regs and bank regs are already rolled back and the world is already hating us. In a perfect world, this wouldnt work, but start understanding...this isnt a perfect world and it wont become one, never has.

This analysis is so frustrating. Republicans are blowing up healthcare in a way that will hurt millions of people. The President is ... well, you know. And they put up a woman who went on tv and said gays are just kind of inherently worse parents.

And they still ####### won this election. I don't see how Dems can be anything but completely depressed today. I hope by tomorrow I'll be back ready to keep up the good fight. But it ain't easy today.
Frustrating? People just can't see past their own biases. You think Republicans are blowing up healthcare, before anything has even happened, but Obama was great to healthcare.  At least acknowledge both sides haven't done well with it

Its a fair point. Trump is doing incredible damage to the country.

Done well with what?

This sums up how they are still able to win elections, tap into the anger and hatred. Dems have hatred, tap into that.

They dont care about her hateful opinions, they care about how she will vote in Washington.

As a Dem, maybe we should listen to the angry Dems, we didnt listen to the ones around November and we lost the White House. Instead of attacking Dems like me, people should hear us out to understand what Dems have to do to keep guys like me voting but instead you dont want insight into how some other people think. Its easy to write people like me off, where did it get us when we wrote the same type of people of in November. Keep getting upset, it wont help.

We need Dems to say things like "Trump is a pig" who has to pay "women to marry him" but instead they are scared to call for impeachment. When Republicans hated Obama and voiced it and obstructed him they won the congress then White House. DEMS NEED TO LEARN THE GAME!
Haaaahaaaaa. Republicans are the ones taping into anger and not the Democrats? Oh brother smh

Ummm, anger over Emails and Healthcare won the Republicans the White House.

No need to answer because your response is helpful in making the other point I made, Republicans defend Republicans at all costs no matter the act, however, Dems get upset at other Dems for posts on a message board on the internet.

POINT: Dems lose because voters dont show up because something happens and they dont like their candidate, Republicans show up and vote for their candidate if he chokes slams someone or if he has a video that shows how he treats people. He can commit a crime, they will show up for their candidate. Until Dems have that loyalty and the same fight, they wont win. We are seeing a new wave of politics, one where the Dems are outmatched as they stay old school.

Surprising that the carpetbagger lost.

I was even more surprised that Hillary didn't run for this seat.

The game is all the dems need to play, and regardless of belief, politics is a game.
If that is true (of any party), then seriously what is the point of supporting any party at all.  What do you "win" when your party mans up, fights dirty, and succeeds (your thesis)?  Do you win competent leadership with a plan?  An office-holder whose priority is effective governance?

What are you doing?  It looks like you are throwing up your hands and saying you'd rather win than have decent leadership.  This is basically a tantrum.

Lets put it like this...

I know why Republicans hate Dems, but the facts Dems get upset at Dems that proves my point that Dems cant stay loyal regardless...they dont want to play the politics of politics because they dont want to seem political. Guess, what...its called politics for a reason. If you dont play it, you will lose, and thats what we are seeing. I cant stand Republicans but their campaigns and elections are showing you how to win, but Dems arrogance makes them want to think they know better.  Their is a winner(s) and a loser(s), you bet your butt its a game.

This is why we see Republicans not shying away from Trump or pulling away from their candidates regardless of what they do. Loyalty and they know their base will vote them regardless if they stay loyal to them.  If it doesnt upset their base, they dont care. Everything upsets the Dems base, thats why our message is so jacked.

You had Dems mad at Bill Maher and Kathy Griffin because of morals...check your morals at the door in politics and stick with your guy no matter what now. Learn it, dont have to like it, but you have to accept it or Dems will continue to lose.

Handle saying publicly her detest for a whole faction of gay people, she won the election. We have comedians doing off color comedy and Dems go insane and turn on other Dems.

Wait, a Republican got elected in Georgia?!?

Who on earth could've seen that coming?

I guess Trump is doing pretty well after all.

Dems do not win elections. They try to play nice, they try to take the moral high ground.

I agree. They really do need to put the brass knuckles on.  It's a new era in America.  You need to pander to the Walmart crowd.

That's actually a step down from a SKS 7.62. Steve Scalise thanks you.

PS- Gotta love the introspection here. Keep losing at the ballot box? The answer is to attack the voting public even more vigorously.

I think we are at a uniquely odd time in politics, so outside the curve, that I'd argue loudly against this.  Trump is an outlier of a perfect crap storm.  Trump will implode and the public (save the 33% HARD Trump base) will turn.  Wrong time to lose your mind, imo.  Going extreme the other way (and essentially becoming two sides of the same coin) would be a mistake for a lot of reasons.

I'm a republican and I certainly don't hate dems.  I just don't always agree with them.  I also don't exhibit much loyalty.  I couldn't even come close to voting for our current narcissist-in-chief, nor did I vote for McCain.  (I did not vote for Obama ever, or Hillary).

I'm not so sure that the dems have a loyalty problem.  They have a serious internal debate over core party philosophy going on right now, and they need to resolve it.  Until they can clear up some of their mixed messages (are we the status quo party of Hillary, or the reformers of Bernie, for instance) they will bleed some votes.

At least now they are in a position where they can indulge their reformist side, since there are a shockingly low number of actual office-holders.  And the republicans now will have a problem related to the fact that they benefitted from this recent wave of populism, and now have to deliver perceived improvements or they will lose that edge.

Good post. As a Dem who follows a lot of Ds and Rs on the internet, loyalty is the biggest problem and its effecting voter turnout. The loyalty problem is why we are having infighting on platform. No one is loyal to a direction of the party, like the Republicans are to theirs.

Didn't expect this guy in Georgia to win. But congrats to Republicans for pulling out another one. Dems lost the big race to the biggest dickbag moron in the history of dickbag morons. The guy can't complete a sentence and has zero redeeming qualities. Yet there he is.

If they can't make some headway in the midterms may be time to just close up shop, getting pounded by this group of Republicans would just be ####### brutal.
Dem need to become the "Middle party"   If the could somehow do this they would dominate but I doubt it will ever happen.

Extremely disappointing that Handel won. Forget the party affiliations here. I've met Karen on several occasions and she is dumber than a bag of hammers and is so wildly unlikable as a person that it's truly embarrassing that she is now in Congress. This is the electoral version of the Peter Principle in full effect.

Dems dont win when they are nice. They need to stop apologizing and worrying about who they offend.

Also, I'm talking about the topic and what Dems should do and you are upset at my words and opinions, typical of Dems (everyone on this site in general). Get triggered at words and opinions, go ahead...mostly the Dems are the ones offended at other Dems opinions. This is why Dems dont win, they cant understand the common goal and they fight each other. Republicans regardless of look jump on the same train, its why they win. While Dems are offended at other Dems, the Reps are winning election after election.
What exactly was that Tea Party thing?

If the Democrats had put up just about any candidate aside from Hillary you'd have had my vote.  That ##### was just so bad I couldn't put my name behind her.  I voted for Gary Johnson - what an utterly useless vote that was.  I had the luxury of it not mattering in my state - not a battleground.

I will admit, I started this thread to see how many Dem's I could trigger.  Seems a lot.  The reason why the Dems keep on losing is quite apparent right here in this thread.  "Appeal to Walmart folks", "Must get angry" (as if you all are not angry enough). "Tap in the anger, Dems have anger" (as if the beatings and rioting on campuses isnt angry enough).  Dems have lost touch with the voters.  If you look at a map all the blue is concentrated in big cities.  You all laugh at us common folks in fly over country.  You know whats best for us.  You are cultured after all.  "How can those walmart shoppers know whats best for their lives " You say from your seat at a Broadway show.  "They cling to their bibles and guns."  You immediately call anyone who disagrees with you as a bigot, homophobic or uneducated.  The common folks have rejected your brand because of this.  If you want to get them back you need to step away from the crazy left win fringe.  You want trans gendered folks to share bathrooms with people with the opposite sex organs.  I could go on with all the far left ideas you are trying to shove down fellow democrats throats but I wont.

Put up a candidate that genuinely cares for the working man. Listen to the people and for the love of god stop acting like you know what is best for us walmart shoppers.  You do this and you will win because the Republicans cannot agree on anything, taxes, healthcare, nothing and are going to get creamed unless they start passing reforms in these areas where the people who put them into office want to see progress.

Clinton was "crazy fringe"?

lol and here come the deflections. nevermind the fact that Dems spent 30 million dollars to get to a vote total that wouldn't have won a single election in the history of the district.

Clinton was "crazy fringe"?
No, she was just so unlikable and arrogant.  I'm saying in general your ideas are too far left and not everyone who disagrees with them are racist homophobes.  Plus you need to change your leadership.  Pelosi needs to go (and take McCain with her).  Fresh faces and ideas that are not that far out.  The problem is your ideas all come from areas where there are only democrats.  You have no sound board to bounce those ideas off of so what sounds normal to someone from NY is extreme to someone living in WI.

Maybe so but  her history as being so unlikeable made her a puzzling choice to prop up as a candidate.
Agreed there 100%.

it was alluded to in another post that the Dems are crazy fringe. I'm not buying this narrative. It's the gay marriage wedge that Rove used to beat Kerry - distraction used, very well, by republicans.

What is really pathetic is that the Dems can't offer an adult-acting alternative.  Instead the Dems continue to blame voters because Dems act like the buffoons they criticize.
You're a bright guy jon so I am not sure where you are coming from with the "adult-acting" comment. Do you consider Trump to be "adult-acting"? From my perspective it seems like we have a dangerous trend of pseudo-dominant, aggressive candidates who don't seem to understand, or care, about defending our Republic so long as they get their way.

Unlikable, absolutely. Arrogant, well who isn't at that level.

These issues you keep referring to are not central to the party I'd offer. Generally they are the right thing to do in most instances but I don't see candidates in major races basing their campaigns on transgendered bathroom usage (who cares).

The candidates may not be making that a focal point of their campaigns, but the blue voter base most certainly is and it's turning a lot of people off.

And instead, you got Trump...everything you hated in Hillary.

So, winning the election by  3.8% as opposed to the usual 20%+ margins is somehow something to crow about?  Makes sense from whence it is coming I guess.

Im not even discussing the merits of this issue.  I'm saying when people are losing their jobs and healthcare and Dems dont acknowledge this.  This is the result your going to get.

Great point and hopefully it is a trend in midterms. Need orange fella to keep tweeting and doing nothing except obsessing about his unfair treatment.

I said in the other thread that I found it odd that Ossoff seemed to not go after Handel more in his ads - I don't agree with Mavis (or whoever is running that alias) because he's insane or a troll but I do think Ossoff had the opportunity to get in the mud a little more and from what I saw he didn't do it.

I don't disagree, Trump is the most child-like candidate of all-time.  But you don't win over voters by implying they are just a bunch of dumb racists.  If you are not winning elections, maybe it is because voters disagree with you agenda and maybe it is not because they are a bunch of stupid racists.  The way to win over voters is to find out what about your message it is they don't like and find a message that does appeal to them.  Becoming even more aggressive with attacks and name-calling as a few are suggesting here, is not the answer.
