I don't think that this is a rule. I think they blew the call. That's probably it. He would have had to report to the ref before the huddle in that case.Just a guess, but is it because it then makes the TE an ineligible receiver wearing an eligible number?I don't get the illegal procedure penalty on the Bettis touchdown that was called back. Hines Ward was on the line of scrimmage, covering the tight end. If it had been a pass play (and the TE had released), it'd be ineligible man down field. But since it was a running play, what was the problem? You have to have seven or more playes on the line of scrimmage. Eight should be okay. What am I missing?
Simms: Coach Cowher, when I talked to heem on Fridee, said they were gonna git their receivers involved in the geem, and throw them the ball.Imagine that...A wide open Steeler WR
I remember hearing mid-season rumblings that a Super Bowl run would be needed for Shanny to get another long term extension..........What? It's the AFC Championship game.Could Shanny be on thin ice if this pummeling continues in the 2nd half?????
bzzzt. Pitt remains perfect in that category.Back to the game, shall we?
Denver can get back in with:
1. Stops on 3rd down.
I believe Mike Alstott would have something to say about these comments.I'm sorry, but I find this totally absurd. There is no RB in the NFL that runs with a forward lean as well as Bettis in short yardage. GL running is about finding the hole, running low, moving the pile when you need to and falling forward rather than backward on impact. Nobody does that better than Bettis right now nor has anyone done it better the last 4-5 years. It amazes me every time I watch Bettis run in these situations how he ALWAYS finds a way to contort his body in a way to get that last foot-yard push with his unique body lean and power.Goal line back is the most overated phrase in football. Almost any NFL quality running back can score from the 1 if that was his only job. Its about the offense line. With Bus case he knows his line but i can guarntee willparker or Veron haes could do the exact same thing or if not the fullback could. running backs get knocked for not having goaline ability but that can change easily. Look at Corey dillon when he was with Cincy he was always knocked as a bad goaline runner, (I rember him tripping over a lineman), now he is praised as a goal line finsher. What israre is aplayer who can do it all and still finsh as Shaun Alexander![]()

Any NFL RB worth his salt could pick up one yard when asked to do so more often than not.
Because the ending of the Indy/Pittsburgh game sucked?Up to this point, the NFL playoffs sure have sucked...
Hopefully Carolina and Seattle can provide the viewers with a decent game.
If the Steelers keep playing like this, they will never lose again.Edit to add: It's only fair to say that I hate the Steelers, but I have money on them. I win either way.will you guys stop posting here for 2 years if Denver wins?Post of the day.Denver fans should be trying to beat traffic right now. This game is over.
He was 14-3, they beat the team who has won three of the last four Super Bowls, and they are one of four teams left. I'd say he's ok.I remember hearing mid-season rumblings that a Super Bowl run would be needed for Shanny to get another long term extension..........What? It's the AFC Championship game.Could Shanny be on thin ice if this pummeling continues in the 2nd half?????
Nope.Has Pitt punted yet?
Agreed Doc. It's a ridiculous question. But just like the Colts complaining last week, expect to see it. Some people cannot remember anything past the last game.JWhat? It's the AFC Championship game.Could Shanny be on thin ice if this pummeling continues in the 2nd half?????
His insane coverage skillz are required against the aerial might of Air Cowher.Freaking duh!!!!!!Why is Lynch not blitzing like last week on every play
...and boring - I want a good game!this is embarrassing. come on Broncos...do something!
Up to this point, the NFL playoffs sure have sucked...

His mom is actually there every week to tie his shoes.:rotfl: Bettis can't bend over to catch a pass below his gut :rotfl:
No, a skirt, and my junk was tightly tucked between my legs. Were you wearing a helmet and goggles?I spent the first half at the MALL with my wife and kids

what the hell game were you watching? My first half thoughts:
1. Ben Roethlisberger looked terrible in the first half. He threw 3 INTS. NONE were caught.
a. Bailey whiffs on the pick on the first drive, it pops in the air and is caught for a 1st down.
b. Ben threw an INT in the end zone on another drive that was dropped by the CB.
c. Ben threw one right in the hands of a Bronco to end the half - the defender simply whiffs - it goes right thru his hands and lands in the hands of a Steeler for a TD.
The Steelers also could NOT run the football at all. But with the dropped interceptions and constantly 3rd down conversions, the Steelers take a huge lead.
If I'm the Broncos, I change nothing in the second half. I trust that
a. The Steelers can't run the football
b. Ben will continue to make poor throws
I also wouldn't give up on my gameplan yet. Keep the pressure on Roethlisberger. Run the ball, get a TD, cut this to 24-10. Hopefully your secondary has better hands in the last 30 minutes.

I am a huge Bronco's fan and despite the Broncos not able to catch any breaks in the game. Roethlisberger is just killing the Broncos on 3rd down.Yes the Broncos are stopping the Run.. but hell Big Ben it tearing them up thru the AIRwhat the hell game were you watching? My first half thoughts:

on ESPN2 Saturday mornings.Well lets see this year just for pittsburghVerron haynes had 3 td on 15 attempts from 1-19 yds out=20%I believe Mike Alstott would have something to say about these comments.I'm sorry, but I find this totally absurd. I agree. They needed to get something done there.two screens in the endzone....brilliant!!

That's his famous "late-season slump" continuing.Big Ben: 17/22 215 2 tds
how terrible!!!!!!!!!
1-19 yards out is hardly goalline duty.Try 1-5 or 1-10.Well lets see this year just for pittsburghVerron haynes had 3 td on 15 attempts from 1-19 yds out=20%I believe Mike Alstott would have something to say about these comments.I'm sorry, but I find this totally absurd. Bettis had 9 tds on 42 touches=21%
then Alstott has 6 tds on only 16 attempts for 38%
Seems to me bettis job isnt all that hard
Yes the 3 tackle so far has put him over the top.Let's stop having debates about the best safety in the NFL. It's Polamalu and he deserves the recognition.
