I agree. Miami already tried this and Hester could not catch or catch on in college. I wish him the best but I do not see his fortunes changing at the NFL level.Dante Hall part II
Don't care if he does or doesn't. If he gets listed on NFL.com as a WR, ka-pow!It'll be like starting the Bears D and the Panthers D every week....Key word here is 'little' because this is the stuff you hear at this time of the year. 'This guy is going to be this now' and 'we are going to put both RB's in the backfield at the same time' and blah, blah blah...it never happens.
Hester was down right awful on offense at Miami. I still think had he simply stayed in college another year, he very well could have vaulted himself into the 1st round of the draft and become a much more hyped commodity. Mia did plan on using him in a similar roll to that of Bush (at USC). Shortly after they made that intention clear, Hester declared for the draft.I agree. I think you're right, but if Hester gets in for 5 plays a game, his mere presence will open running lanes for Benson. Make the defense overthink itself.Key word here is 'little' because this is the stuff you hear at this time of the year. ROTFLMAO!!! Berrian is the best WR on the Bears.Berrian and Moose are the starters, with Mark Bradley, Rashied Davis and Hester (replacing Justin Gage).Hester played a little WR last year and didn't do too well. Let's see how an offseason of practice at WR works for him. This is clearly just a ploy to motivate Bernard Berrian.
What do you think about Tatum Bell?ROTFLMAO!!! Berrian is the best WR on the Bears. This is clearly just a ploy to motivate Bernard Berrian.

um, it was a joke...please point out where I said Berrian sucked.I just picked any CHI WR.ROTFLMAO!!! huh?He could not catch punts and kick offs regularly last year. He was benched one game because he kept dropping the balls on the ground. I do not know how many kicks the ball hit the ground and he picked it up and then ran with it..... so now he is suppose to run routes and catch the perfectly thrown balls of Grossman?! Lovie.... I thought more highly of you than this!!!
I agree he is explosive and I agree that you should attempt to get the football in the hands, assuming they can use their hands, of your best athletes more often than not. I also agree that Miami was going to attempt to do right by a player that could not play DB or WR and find a position, if possible, for him before he left. We are on the same page. At the same time, though, I place a certain amount of blame on the coaching staff. Hester, while a freakish athlete, needed to be taught and coached...in college...about playing DB or playing WR/catching footballs. Somebody...somewhere...did a huge disservice to this kid on Saturdays in the fall. Somebody...somewhere...let him slide because he is explosive and failed to make sure he had a solid foundation/fundamentals at DB or WR. Somebody...somewhere...decided his God given, Madden recognized 100 speed would supercede or blatantly hide the fact he does not have the skills necessary to play a position down in and out. And...He cannot catch. Period. He was tried at DB. He cannot cover properly. Period. Now, the Bears are going to attempt to work a miracle on Sundays in the fall. Again...I will never root against a young man to succeed. I wish him the best but I do not see it. What I do see, though, is a kid that could be this generation's Mel Gray. Mel found his niche and filled it. Hester could be the same player.Hester was down right awful on offense at Miami. You have to remember that Hester has never really just been able to concentrate on one position or thing in his football career yet. I'm skeptical of his chances of success in Chi in this new (what appears to be similar roll), but I think it's obvious he has potential. Hester is simply one of the most explosive players in the NFL.
Being in Chicago I was forced to watch more Bears games than I normally care to. Almost every game there was at least one punt or kick off the kid dropped the ball, had to scoop up, and the run. He muffed a couple that ended up being turnovers in one game and Lovie benched him. So, if he can not catch a kick off or punt- he is suppose to be able to catch a thrown ball that usually is not exactly accurate?huh? He could not catch punts and kick offs regularly last year. yeah he did scare me a bit - especially when he got in that funk of dropping punts. i remember the game you're talking about where he was benched. is it any easier to catch a pass though? i'm not sure ... either way though, it's something they probably think is worth working on (and i agree). if he can improve his hands just enough, he could be a serious threat on the offense (at the least a heck of a distraction) in just a handful of snaps per game.Being in Chicago I was forced to watch more Bears games than I normally care to. I always considered catching a kicked ball where all you have to do is position yourself where it is about to land vs running a route and trying to catch the ball while moving would be even harder. The kid does not have any hands- that is why he was a CB to begin with. It seems like they tried to make him a WR in college and that did not work (based off of others posts) so I fail to see how it will work in the Bears offense.yeah he did scare me a bit - especially when he got in that funk of dropping punts. i remember the game you're talking about where he was benched. is it any easier to catch a pass though? i'm not sure ... either way though, it's something they probably think is worth working on (and i agree). if he can improve his hands just enough, he could be a serious threat on the offense (at the least a heck of a distraction) in just a handful of snaps per game.Being in Chicago I was forced to watch more Bears games than I normally care to.
