Dez (Knee) Among 3 Injured Receivers In Monday’s Practice

The Cowboys made it out of Saturday’s game with the Chargers relatively unscathed on the injury front, but Monday’s practice with the AFC squad was a different story, especially for the receiver position.

Most notably, Dez Bryant had to leave practice with a right knee injury. Bryant left the Chargers’ facility to get an MRI.

Bryant seemed to slip on the grass coming out of a break and then immediately limped off with the athletic trainers and into the locker room.

Also, Andre Holmes had to leave practice with an apparent back injury. He slowly walked into the locker room with doctors and trainers.

And if that’s not enough, receiver Donovan Kemp also had a left knee injury that forced him out of practice.

That left guys like Kevin Ogletree, Raymond Radway, Cole Beasley, Danny Coale and Dwayne Harris getting most of the reps. Ogletree and Beasley both had good days of practice with many catches against the Chargers’ first-team defense.

Already posted in the Dez thread. And here are some other tweets:

27m David Moore ‏@DavidMooreDMNDez Bryant along with WRs Andre Holmes and Tim Benford have pads off and walk to other side of complex. Asked if OK, Dez says, "yeah''
Bryan Broaddus ‏@BryanBroaddusDez Bryant and Holmes just walked past me. Bryant looks fine and said he was fine Holmes not moving so well.
Dez Bryant will undergo an MRI on his knee after suffering an injury in Monday's practice. The MRI is likely precautionary, as Bryant left the field for a short time before returning and telling reporters he was fine. He did not resume practicing, however.Source: San Antonio Express-News
Let's calm down a bit here.

Let's calm down a bit here.
Even if this isn't serious, Dez continues to get banged up on a regular basis. He is one of those guys who will kill you in several games by leaving in the first quarter with a sore pinkie after getting you one catch for seven yards.

 and not a smiling yes... it's very concerning he can't seem to stay on the field. even if it's minor it's definitely a concern.

Or leaves after 3 catches for 76 yards and a TD on a ridiculous play that about 5 guys in the league can make. But the point is taken and valid; this guy sure hasn't been the model of durability so far.

Bryants MRI Reveals Patellar Tendinitis, No Major DamageRowan Kavner DallasCowboys.com Staff Writer SAN DIEGO -- An MRI on Dez Bryant's injured knee revealed patellar tendinitis, according to a source, which should only require rest before the star receiver can return to practice.Bryant hurt his knee Monday practicing against the Chargers when he slipped coming out of a break. The MRI revealed no major structural damage and provides a much less severe diagnosis than originally feared when Bryant limped off the field.Patellar tendinitis is also known as "jumper's knee," and occurs most frequently in athletes who jump routinely, as Bryant did when he soared into the air to snag a ball in the back of the endzone Saturday. The Cowboys are short in receiving threats, with Miles Austin and Jason Witten both sidelined. A spleen injury to Witten and a lingering hamstring issue for Austin raised the dependence on Bryant in the passing game. Bryant was one of the few starters not dealing with an injury in training camp, besides missing the end of a practice in Oxnard, Calif., with a sore hamstring. The receivers finished Saturdays preseason game healthy against the Chargers, but they couldnt stay on the field in Mondays practice against San Diego, as Bryant, Andre Holmes and Donavon Kemp joined the injury list.Kemp also suffered a knee injury and Holmes left with a sore back. Wide receivers coach Jimmy Robinson said he knew Holmes tight back flared up on him, but he didnt see what happened to Bryant, who slipped coming out of a break and limped off the field. Hopefully its not anything too serious, Robinson said.Bryants been on point with Tony Romo throughout the preseason, making athletic catches routinely, including a one-handed grab in the back of the end zone against the Chargers that was called back for a penalty and ruled out of bounds. Bryant didnt play much against the Chargers, catching two passes for 15 yards on three targets.Kevin Ogletree took a majority of the first-team snaps in practice after Bryants departure. He said Bryant became a man this offseason and preseason with his consistent play.Ogletree also didnt see the play that forced Bryant to the sidelines. We all know his talents and how hard he works and his determination and drive and competitiveness, Ogletree said. You can give a bunch of words to describe his role on the team and how important he is to us. Hes a leader, one of our best players and Im praying for him. Im sure hell be fine. Hes a strong kid.The injury to Austin already bumped Ogletree to the starter opposite Bryant. His practice reps increased more when Bryant left Monday. He said the practices at the end of training camp are essential with the Sept. 5 opener against the Giants looming in a couple weeks. It was a great opportunity for myself and some of the other young guys to get some extra practice reps with some unfamiliar corners and secondaries and defenses, Ogletree said. Its something I think we took advantage of as a group today.
