Diamonds in the Rough needed... suggestions? (1 Viewer)

the players I'm looking at would be ones that are NOT ALREADY owned in most leagues... Our league lets me keep 2 players based on the round they were drafted... so ideally I can find 2 fantasy relevant players who were not drafted this year thus only costing me a 14th and 15th round draft pick.

The only potential guys I can think of are:

updated list 12-19 with names people brought up

Russell Wilson (if I am able to claim him this week)

Edleman (if welker leaves)

Daniel Thomas/Miller (when bush leaves)

Andre Roberts (and hope they acquire a good QB)

Streator

Ingram/Ivory

LaMichael James

DJ Williams (GB TE)

Alshon Jeffrey

devier posey (WR Houston?)

darius reynaud

hillman

vincent brown

I was hoping folks on here would have ideas since you all follow your nfl teams closer than I do. Any RB situations I should keep an eye on? Or WR I should look at?

thanks in advance

I am interested in more opinions on Rod Streater. He has been performing pretty well as of late and also seems to have some big play ability. How high is his ceiling?

I am interested in some running back situations. What will Green Bay do? Will ivory hit free agency where will he go?

not sure what to make of him, moore and DHB are still on their rookie deals next year right? that would leave streator #3 still.... not sure if moore's drop off is injury related or not.... during the middle part of the season he was pretty reliable.

I am a huge Ingram fan but that backfield is crowded. I like Ivory, but where will he end up? If he can get 15 touches a game somewhere that'd be nice.

I am stashing D.J. Williams (TE - GB). I realize he has done nothing, but Finley looks like he will be gone, and any player starting and running pass routes in GB is worth taking a shot on. No guarantee he is the starter, but worth the risk IMO.

What about Peyton hillis? He runs a 4.57 very big back and has shown he is a good volume back. He's a free agent and could end up on a team where Ivory doesn't. Any thoughts? Never a good YPC but decent volume back... Or is his career almost done?

What about Kevin smith? He's a free agent too.

What about dajuane harris and Alex green? Mediocre talents. You think Green Bay goes and gets a RB in the draft or FA?

Any other running back situations that could be a battle in camp where the 2nd string beats out the guy who has the starting job?

I've only seen him in two KC games this year but I would say that's gotta be old numbers. I know he's battled injuries but I would compare his running style now to a one legged man whose good leg is encased in concrete in 4 foot high water.

:goodposting: I think he's not worthy of a roster spot in most 12 team leagues. I would take a long look at rostering Danny Woodhead.

Re: RB's -- I think Mike Goodson is worth stashing. He's looked very strong in limited action. I know he doesn't "profile" as a lead back and he's had fumbling issues before, but there's no denying how electrifying he's been and he'll only be 26 when next season starts. And despite the re-emergence of Moreno, don't sleep on Ronnie Hillman.

If Mario Manningham is kicking around your waiver wire, he's worth a stash as well. Looked to have a good rapport with Kaep before getting hurt and is off a lot of radars right now.

Here's a freebie, and you won't have to use a current slot now to keep an eye of him. Former Mountaineer WR/RB/KR/PR/STer Darius Reynaud. Will be 27 by next preseason but has had a very good season, racking up 2500 all purpose yards this year for the Titans, mostly on returns. The Titans had a bit of a glut with guys with draft pedigree (Wright and Britt) plus holdover Washington, so I don't think there were many snaps or much burn to give around that offense to a guy like Reynaud. Chris Palmer was known mostly for two things. Working with young QB1s and having the reputation of developing, very quickly, young WRs. I can see how Reynaud would slip through the cracks there. There is very little that can be predictive about Bill Belichick, but that being said, if you have a good game against the Patriots or raise his eyebrows, he doesn't seem to forget much ( Welker, Sammy Morris) . First game this season, the Pats rolled the Titans pretty easily. But on a couple of returns, Reynaud made something out of nothing. Also he caught a few balls and got a few rushes. IMHO, this is the kind of guy Belichick ends up loving - cheap, undervalued, some history of production, versatile. I also think the number of attempts and volume will speak to consistency to Belichick rather than just looking at TDs and average yards per return in the kicking game. If Welker leaves, which I think is a strong possibility, consider that NE offense is not very WR friendly. A lot of WRs wash out of that system and don't mesh well with Brady. At some point, someone will have to be honest and consider that Brady tends to do better with the Don Beebe type of WRs than the the higher upside/higher draft pedigree guys that seem to keep cycling out. At some point, Deion Branch will qualify for Social Security and they will have to figure something out. Stab in the dark here, I think the Patriots take a look at Reynaud this offseason ( Why not, won't cost much) IMHO, a good smart versatile player whose physical metrics have always tested well. And I think McDaniels can weaponize this guy. I'm not saying he's the next Wes Welker, I am saying in a top offense and in a stable system, you could do worse than potentially getting a rich man's Woodhead/Edelman hybrid at virtually no fantasy cost. My guess is he will be widely available now and into the offseason in virtually every league.
Thanks for that one, I'm gonna go watch some tape.

I picked him up in a couple leagues. I have no link and can't remember exactly where/what it said, but I read something to the effect that the Raiders envision Streater and Criner as their starters long-term. I think there was some thought that some of the other WRs would be moved out.And now that Al Davis is dead, I kind of like the Raiders a little more. Allen seems to be a guy that gets it. I think there's some potential there.

For people in auction keeper/salary leagues I would stash guys like Kendall Hunter, Lamar Miller, Julian Edelman, Chris Ivory, Ronnie Hillman, Vincent Brown and Santonio Holmes depending on salary/price and how much you like them. Ivory and Holmes could easily be on new teams and in better situations while the others might be in line for more touches on their current teams with current teammates being let go or declining.

I like Alshon Jeffery and Stephen hill quite a bit, but not sure how productive they can be next season. I was also very high on Broyles future outlook, but another ACL tear has me worried.

A.J. Jenkins could be interesting, but I'm not too high on his prospects in SF's current system/situation.

Devier posey. It's time to get him.
I liked Jean too, but I think Posey is a better athlete and could be the eventual #1 on the team.
Yep, really starting to see it with Posey and for the people that haven't followed his situation, he basically didn't play much at all last year due to all the issues at Ohio State but he was pretty good there before all the issues and OSU kinda has a thing for cranking out WRs. Not like Georgia Tec (LOL) but they bring in guys with pro-style skill sets. There isn't a great deal of plays to watch Posey with the texans but just in the short time period, you can see him doing things differently already. On one play last week, I thought "that's an AJ route and he just moved like AJ would". Anyway, not saying he is the next big thing but we're talking rough diamonds with smudges on them that could step up and I think Posey is a qualifier.

When he was with the Vikings I was constantly impressed by him and curious as to why he never got a game-time shot at a larger roll and why the Vikings traded him, let alone got so little in return. His skillset reminds me a lot of Percy Harvin without the ridiculously fast acceleration (he's quick, just not Percy quick) and toughness.Speaking of Percy though...I would not be surprised if the Vikings made a strong effort to deal him this year. If that happens, Wright has show the ability to be a slot starter in this league. I love Percy, but he's clearly not happy with the play-calling and quarterbacking of this squad and there's much speculation locally that his IR designation was just as much about attitude as it is being hurt.

You may be right, but I think I would prefer Jean, although I have been pimping him for so long on this forum that I probably don't have an objective view of things. :hophead: Actually, if you are in a very deep league or are in a long term rebuilding mode with the roster space, I would pick up both of them and see how it plays out. Jean is the heir apparent to AJ, but since Andre has quelled any fears that age may be catching up to him, could hold on the starting position another 3-4 years. At the moment Posey looks to be the replacement for Walters, but that could change again too. And while the Houston #2 and #3 WRs spots don't currently hold much value that could change a few years down the road.

Looking at the list in the first post I would be happy to keep Russell Wilson and Alshon Jeffrey for my last 2 picks. Vincent Brown is a guy I would consider too. After that the list of guys available doesn't do much for me and I would lean toward keeping someone else even if they cost me an earlier draft pick.

Agreed. I am interested to hear more about Streater. Seems like hes coming on strong after being undrafted. But there seems to be a lot of mouths to feed... Moore had a strong mid season push to be there solid #1. DHB is there and seems up and down, also Ford is hurt right now and they drafted Criner for a reason. So anyone have any insight on if this is just a streak hes going through or he can carry this into next year for them?Thats a link to a pretty nice grab by Streater showing his athleticism. Its number 5 on that list within the first ten seconds or so.http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-countdowns/0ap2000000083500/Week-7-Top-5-catchesEDIT: to add the catch link

PPR and/or TD heavy:

I'll go with Mike Tolbert. Williams likely gone and I don't assume Stewart will handle goalline/3rd down work. (Of course you'll likely have Cam in there regardless). Nor assume Stewart will stay healthy for that matter.

Fair bit of upside for no cost. If Williams returns (don't see) or they sign/draft RB, you can cut loose for nothing. I like him because you know he'll have a role and a role that could grow upon Williams's offseason departure.

Peyton Hillis heard us talking about him on here.... went off with 15 carries for 101 yards. What I have quoted below they make it seem like he was a beast today... anyone see the game and have any insight?"Peyton Hillis rushed 15 times for 101 yards in Kansas City's Week 16 loss to Indianapolis.Hillis saved his best game in a Chiefs uniform for meaningless Week 16, ripping off powerful run after powerful run while playing second fiddle to a red-hot Jamaal Charles (22-226-1). Hillis, who turns 27 in January, is a free agent at season's end. He'll try to put more intriguing things on tape when Kansas City visits Denver for the season finale in Week 17."per rotoworld
