Did Dungy say Rhodes + Addai would share 50/50? (1 Viewer)

According to a reliable board member (Dj Colts) Tony Dungy said in an interview somewhere this week that Rhodes and Addai would be splitting carries 50/50 right of the bat in week one.

Can anyone confirm this or post a link? I have not seen or heard anything about this anywhere else.

If true I would think this hurts Rhodes long term value far more than Addai.

Colts :: RB

RB Rhodes Gets Another Chance To Shine

Associated Press, ESPN - [Full Article]

RB Dominic Rhodes' last meaningful start came five years ago. Rhodes along with rookie RB Joseph Addai must fill the large shoes of RB Edgerrin James to give the Colts' offense the balance it needs. Rhodes is expected to get the bulk of the work, although Addai will see some playing time. "I don't know what the coaches got in store," Rhodes said. "But whatever opportunity the coaches give me, I'm going to take advantage of."

The first time Addai's head explodes as Manning changes the play 4 times in 12 seconds might give Rhodes an edge in playing time

I expect you all to be correct about Rhodes - for a while.

I think that around week 8-10 or so, the light either goes on for Addai and he seriously eats into Rhodes' playing time, or this will be Rhodes running away with the job near the end of the year - I just can NOT see the Colts with a shared backfield heading into the playoffs.

Open the year splitting time? Ok. But someone will win that job and wil be their horse heading into the playoffs (and, more importantly, the fantasy playoffs).

Since heading into the playoffs for NFL teams means the FF playoffs for us, if the Colts are running away with the division and Rhodes has the job locked down heading into the end of the year, consider trading on the cheap for Addai - you will want him in weeks 15-17.

Dominic Rhodes = Steal of the draft.

I needed a thread like this. I had to bench Portis since he is not playing week 1.

Have Rhodes as a backup, other option is to pick up A. Green vs Bears

PPR scoring so going to stick with Rhodes.

Our league allows us to make line up changes up until game time.

Well said Marc. The article quoted early in this thread seems to an opinion pitece and seems to contradict what Dungy was actually quoted as saying ao already it's looking better for Addai. As to how/when Addai bevomes the primary is up for debate. But in these cases it seems to be more of a case when will Addai win it or Rhoeds lose it. And I think it's slanted against Rhodes unless he really kicks butt.

If Dungy said that (I'm not doubting the poster who put the quote up) wouldn't it be all over the place by now?Where are the links?

Is Addai really that much better than Rhodes? I just don't see Addai as a big time talent.

The Indy running game wasn't very impressive tonight. Rhodes got the majority of the carries, and I think tonight will be a good snapshot of how the Indy running game plays out the rest of the year. They will have some better games on the ground, (at least I would think) but Rhodes/Addai owners should get used to this type of performance as an average. After watching the game tonight I'm feeling good about passing them both up in my drafts.

FWIW I did see some nice things from addai.

Kept up with the audibles, blocked well when he had to, dished out some punishment, caught some passes.

did have two negative plays, one at the end of the game.

rhodes was solid if uninspiring. definitely not superstar material.

I disagree. I think the Giants are very good vs the run and it showed tonight. Rhodes did score a td and looked ok. Addai looked slightly better and he will only improve with time.Once Indy gets home I think the running game will get in gear.

Rhodes was able to get in the endzone but I wouldn't go as far as calling 16 for 29 looking ok.

I agree that neither Rhodes or Addai had much room to run. The Giants really shut the run down and Indy's blocking was subpar. However, as an owner of both, I am VERY worried about my RB #4 position. :X
