Did you make the playoffs? How or why not? (1 Viewer)

Made the playoffs in 14 out of 14 leagues.

1st round bye in 8 of them.

13 dynasty, 1 redraft. Dynasty teams have been good the last few years and almost hit it with all of them, but this is the first year going 14 for 14
14 out of 14 with 8 byes is massively impressive.
I would like to hear your thoughts on what you have learned regarding making lineup decisions. Too much agonizing time can be spent on this for me.

When I was younger played in 6-8 leagues or more. Every touchdown seemed to help one squad but hurt another lol.
I’m in that hell now.

I just turned down joining another dynasty league. At one point this year I had 4 players I needed points from in 1 league that I also faced in various combos across 4 other leagues.

I know people who compartmentalize - they check their lineups, then don’t look again until after all the games are played.

I live and die with every play. The conflicts are maddening.

Hopes that were high having all your teams in the playoffs, can wilt and die in week 15. Week 15 can be cold and gray, Week 15 can be surly, with bitter rain upon the world and winter coming early.

This is the first time in 30+ years of play that I haven't made the playoffs in at least one league. You kids get off my lawn!
That was kind of my situation last year, I'd taken it for granted I could throw my jock out there and at least make the playoffs.

I did a ton of prep work this year; I came into the draft with a rock-solid list and a plan that I stuck to. The biggest factor for me this year was building a nice base.

So I did the part I have control over, built a solid team and got to the playoffs. Now it's one-and-done time and I could easily run into some clown who has a bunch of players go off. Eh.

Can’t blame the process.

My NFFC team that won the regular season also had Raheed Shaheed & Chris Godwin. I was in the top 25 overall at one point. It was easily the best team I’ve ever drafted. As of week 10-ish I had a good shot at competing for the $250K.

But yeah - can only take so many injuries. I almost missed the top league prize because a team that had scored 500+ less than me had 1 more win. Thankfully he faced the Josh Allen team, and I won the last week.

And in my NFFC best ball I lost Shaheed, KWII, and had BRob on the BYE week 14.

What’s funny is of my 4 NFFC ROC teams, I thought 2 of the other 3 were better. But luck plays a huge role.

Trust your process. Despite what some say, I still believe that doing the work matters.

Nope, finished 6-8 with 2nd highest points scored in the league. All play record I would have won 70% of games. Stupid head to head schedule killed me with bad luck running into high scorer multiple times over.

In the playoffs in 8 of 12 dynasty leagues, with 3 first round byes. 2 of the teams that missed were complete rebuilds where I never expected to be a contender.
In my long standing local 14 team play all league, I snuck into the playoffs with the 6 seed thanks to big weeks by JJ and Charb last week.
In my 3 FFPC FPC leagues, I made the playoffs in 2 but got knocked out in the first round in both. I am in the Championship round in one of them.

FORTUNATE!

In Playoffs ... 12 Team 1 QB PPR TE+
Finished 9-5 with #3 All Play Record as #6 Seed in playoffs

Strengths = Depth at RB & WR to handle injuries / byes
No Real Elite players, just numerous quality starters
5 Tier 2-3 WR with no Elite WR (or major injuries) = McLaurin, Kupp, JJennings, Shakir, Ridley (had BTJr until Week 5)
4 Starting RBs KWIII/Charbs, AJones, Kamara/Miller, RWhite

Surprise Player Performance: Alvin Kamara RB #5 (~18 pt/game)

Surprise Best Move: Trade in May for 1.04 = Brock Bowers
Gave up 1.09 (X Worthy), 2.03 (Troy Franklin) and 2.09 (Roman Wilson)

Worst Move: J Addison (16 pt/gm), Brian Robinson (12) & 3rd for GB WR J Reed (7!!) & TB RB R White (15) since trade Week 10

Stole it from John Facenda and made it my own for week 15 purposes. "Hopes that were high in the heat of September ... can wilt and die in the chill of November. November can be cold and gray – November can be surly … with bitter rain upon the world and winter coming early.",

1 keeper - missed
Dynasty TE Premium - made it as the #3 seed
Redraft WWE Themed - I will be entering the Royal Rumble. In practical terms that means two teams are in one semifinal and the other 10 in the other. I'm in the 10 man group.
Redraft - Last week of the Regular Season is Week 15 and I am on the bubble.

I'm 3 for 3 on playoff appearances. I have a bye in 2 and play this weekend in one.

Unfortunately, I'll probably lose. Why? I have no RB depth and Breece Hall was a keeper. I bid all my FAB budget on Braelon Allen... turns out, the Jets are going to see what Isaiah Davis has.

I'm surprised you don't just give the work to the kid here and let Davis spell him with a little receiver work but it's the Jets.

I'm returning champ of one of these leagues, which is Dynasty... I think I'll win it. Though, I was a little nervous the 2nd place team has CMC and Saquon.

My roster is stacked and I should go through a 5 year run of championship games, unless I totally mess this up.

Last league is a family/extended family league, I run with my 10 year old son - we acquired Breece Hall and Courtland Sutton for Chuba Hubbard, Najee and Jamo (yeah, that was dumb). With the Brooks injury I think Chuba outperforms Breece rest of the way and I'll probably lose.

Also, son wanted Etienne and I really pushed for him to consider Henry in the 2nd round. We drafted Etienne... we own Bigsby and I'm mad I roster either of them.

It's been a fun year. As a Cowboys fan, fake football is really the only thing I have to hold onto.

Based on what I thought of my teams before the season started what I might have listed as my best team did not make the playoffs. FFPC dynasty, my team has been in the final 4 all previous 9 years of the league. Clinched a top two seed last year in week 10. Entered this year with 3 of the top 6 overall consensus players and 4 of the top 10 overall consensus players. I did have some concerns about the quality of my depth before the season started but thought this team offered the best lineup of all my teams assuming good health.

What is really shocking to me is it was not that close. I mean I came down to the last week with a shot but my team ended up 8th in VP's, but went from first in scoring by a solid margin to 10th.

What went wrong? Almost everything. Those top 3-4 consensus overall players are CMC, Breece, Lamb and G Wilson. Traded for Pitts late last year, he had some good games but killed me so many weeks in a TEP format. Diontae Johnson got traded and lost all value. Mahome's continued his downward descent as a fantasy player due to OL and weapons.

I'd say the only player on my entire roster who met pre-season expectations was Tony Pollard. Everyone else ranged from mildly disappointing to outright busting.

Teams like this having thise type of season is exactly why I never trade my future first round picks before the season starts, not even on teams who look like surefire locks as contenders.

  • Superflex TEP Redraft: Secured the #1 seed with Barkley, Mayfield, Kittle, Kelce, and Godwin before injury. Solid support from all other positions. Trading Kincaid for Kelce before season helped. Trading Otton for Darnold mid-season helped as well. WR depth got weaker as the season went on. A solid, yet unspectacular team. Average odds to win title despite 1st round bye (17%).
  • Superflex TEP Dynasty: Secured the #4 seed with Burrow, Darnold, Chase, Nico, and Puka. No RB depth at all. Kept waiting for Brooks, Benson, or Davis to emerge. Huge underdog in first round (likely one and done) unless Chase and/or Nico can generate another nuclear game. Odds to win title (5%).

Injuries and bad luck killed me and I'm out of the playoffs. McCaffery, Kupp, and Olave were my first three picks and I don't think they ever played the same week. Still, I'd be in the playoffs if McCaffery had given me something in that infamous snow game. I had the most points scored against, and even the 0-10 guy who forgets to set his lineup beat me with two guys posting zeros! Meh, just the way it goes. Good luck to all those in the playoffs!

FBG Bowl is the only league I participated in this year.

8-6, 4th place in league 0091, 2,020.20 points (advanced to playoffs by surviving points scored cutoff.)

Very happy to have been an inaugural year participant. It was tough some weeks, running into the only team that scored more than mine. No complaints though. Fun all around.

What worked: drafting Barkley in the 1st and Henry in the 2nd, having a relatively injury-free season (I did lose Godwin.)
What didn't work: getting too cute with lineup decisions.
Secretly pleased about: 8 of my 10 starters for Wk.15 are my own draft picks.

Side note: I've never understood the complaints about H-2-H leagues. I feel they are more representative of the NFL than total points leagues. If you really don't like them, don't join them. Otherwise, stop crying in your beer. It's a bad look.

I take the injuries and bad luck as a challenge. I made the playoffs in all my leagues (6) and I've had my fair share of injuries like everyone else. In one of my dynasty leagues I have CMC and Dobbins, along with issues with Richardson, Love, A J Brown, and now Breece Hall along the way. Making the right waiver moves and trades is a way to combat injuries and bad luck and add to this challenge I speak of. I was able to obtain Mason, who filled a role most of the year, along with Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, who could serve me well now. Players like Flowers, LaPorta and Odunze have underperformed from what I expected as well. If I can pull of a championship in that league it would be sweet, especially considering I stayed afloat only losing my 2025 1st round pick. I still have a 2nd and two 3rds. Improvise, adapt, and overcome.

PPR Redraft, 3rd in standings first in points.

I have (had) a lot of "ripe bananas" that have so far managed to not to get over ripe (Kamara, Jones. Ekeler, ETN, Bigsby, Charbs, K Allen, DHop, Deebo)

Have streamed Nix and Goff as well as K / DEF then of course I have Chase and JSN so I have that going for me, which is nice.

TL;DR - a lot of vets who have stayed healthy enough and "above average in-season management" compared to a typical year.

In the playoffs in 7 of 7 leagues. I have byes in 3 of those.

I guess this year just happened to go my way.
It usually takes more than "I guess this year just happened to go my way". Not always, but most of the time. I'm sure you made the right moves along the way. I've always said it takes more skill to make the playoffs than it does to win a championship. One is a grind and the other is a sprint.

yeah, I guess the part that went my way was more that it was a full sweep. I have expectations to make playoffs in leagues I am not rebuilding. I appreciate the compliment though on making the right moves.

Made 2 out of 3 leagues.

7th seed Home Town Dynasty. Was #1 seed after week 4, the bottom soon fell out because these guys were injured or tanked down the stretch.
Godwin, Shaheed, Dak, Deebo, Diontae, JT, Fields, KW3, Nabors, Fergy with Dak out

4th seed Dynasty. Slow start but strong finish in position to do something even with Purdy crapping the bed on Thursday. Strong core of players.
Purdy, Bijan, Kamara, Conner, A. Jones, Puka, ARSB, Ridley, Addison, Hock, Fergy

#1 seed FFPC redraft Superflex. TE Premium. Stacked at QB and top TE.
Lamar, Daniels, Nix, Rodgers, KW3, Charb, A. Jones, Tracy, McCormick, London, DJ Moore, Ridley, Mooney, McBride

Got first place 1st round bye in a league I’ve won before but struggled with the last 5 years. Won 7 straight. Dropped 3 tight games in a row, now back on a streak.

my best draft after digesting some microdoseables. Draft went:

Jefferson (should have been Henry but first draft on a different device I was auto drafted JJ)
Barkley
Jacobs
Lamar
Bowers in the 8th
Godwin in the 9th

Have had some luck with streaming Ds and my WR 2 currently bouncing between J Jennings and K Allen. Also got good weeks out of J Mason Chubb and Bigsby

Good Luck everyone

Dynasty - made it in 2/3
#1 seed in one after trading for Barkley early on.
The other shocked me. I took over a last place team from last year. Traded for Mixon mid season to make the difference.

Keeper - 2/2
#1 seed in one
Lamar Jackson was my QB in both

Redraft - 1/3
First time in ten years playing redraft. Injuries killed me, plus my homer picks of Lamb, Ferguson and Prescott.
Made playoffs in 5/8.
#1 seed in two leagues, but no first round byes.
I still have a slight chance to move on in one league.
In another I had the second highest score, but played the team with highest score.
In the other three my score was one of the lowest of the year thanks to players like Kupp.
In leagues where I missed the playoffs, one I had the highest score of the week and another the second highest score.
