Dion Lewis (1 Viewer)

"After last season ended, Lewis came to a realization. Whatever he had been doing in the past in terms of training and preparation was not enough. So he spent six weeks at the Fischer Institute in Phoenix working harder and smarter than he ever had."
Nice writeup from Dan Pompei on Dion. Good read
That article references Joe Banner twice acquired him and it's Joe Banner I would like to thank for having Dion on so many of my fantasy teams.

Banner said the only reason Lewis was on NE was at recommendation of Mike Lombardi. Remember him? Banner was tweeting up a storm about Lewis in the preseason leading all the way up to the opener. He sold me on him and I got him a ton before his price jumped which it literally did overnight where in fantasy drafts held a day or two after the opener he had vaulted to a 6th rounder in most drafts which turns out to be a steal.
I haven't heard of this happening.. If he was drafted it was a late round selection. Hell even after he broke out week 1 people were still hesitant to add him off the waiver wire.

I did two FFPC main event drafts after the opener and he went 6th round of both. Latest I heard he went was 9th round in a draft but from most I saw he seemed to go in 6th-7th round range and sometimes in the 5th.

I did 4 drafts the week before the opener and he went 11th-15th round in those, usually to me.

He took a huge jump, at least in leagues I play, after the opener and that was also seen in the FA bidding after week one.

My experience was similar to tone1oc's. I did two drafts after it was announced that Lewis was going to be the passing-down back. In the first, he went in the 17th. In the second, he was undrafted. I got him off of waivers before week 1 in one league and after week 2 in another league, (the other owners hadn't bid on him after week 1 because benches were short and many were convinced Blount was going to steal the featured role once he returned).

The announcement also came in the middle two of my (slow) rookie / free agent drafts in dynasty, and Lewis lasted to the 58th pick in one and the 52nd pick in the other, behind such luminaries as Kirk Cousins, Marcus Murphy, Jared Abbrederis, Terrelle Pryor, Jeff Heuerman, Brett Hundley, Scott Chandler, Brian Hartline, and even Branden Bolden, (who went to a New England fan, no less).

Somebody call Dave wannstedt and tell him nobody can take his opinion seriously if he's gonna compare the guy to Barry sanders
he's not the only one to make the comparison. Also noted the paragraphs of gushing from BB on dion. He sounds like me in this forum. Lol

I picked him up for free after mike claytons tweet that he got the third down role and would be top 40 rb. He just put an extra zero in there. Thanks mike Clayton!

I was actually poking fun at the posters in this thread who were insisting that nobody should compare anyone to Barry. I feel like wannstedt doing so legitimizes it a bit. But you're the second person to take it at face value so perhaps the sarcasm didn't come out well in text

Thoughts on Dion Lewis playing status? @Stephania_ESPN @JeneBramel @injuryexpert @MikeReiss Thanks!

-@WilliamsonNFL

@williamsonnfl GTD. That ab strain will be tough. Rather have Blount.

-@injuryexpert

@WilliamsonNFL Matt, was told "no issues, he's good" but not sure how it will affect his usage/status Sunday.

-@MikeReiss
Clear as mud!
What a tough situation especially with it being a Sunday Night game. Although even if he's active it seems like there's a chance he takes a back seat to Blount if it's effecting him. So do you bench him and then watch him out up massive points while the Pats paste the Colts?

I picked up Andre Williams off WW to avoid a 0 if lewis can't go. Not thrilled about this situation

I had a shot at grabbing R. Jennings to use in this same fashion but someone blew 20% of their budget on him so that wasn't happening. When it comes to these situations (night game, questionable tag) I tend to auto-sit players assuming I have other reasonable options. It's a tougher decision with Lewis since he's been so good but I'll likely sit him.

Was planning on starting both Lewis and Blount; as I figure the Pats will try to score 100 if they can.

Will start a WR at my flex & have to decide between those 2 right before SNF.

If Lewis is a GTD would the Pats inactivate him? Not sure if he'd be active and not play, to me the Pats would probably make a corresponding move to have 53 men who can play. This is speculation though.

If they activate a player from practice squad I'll be concerned.

Meh, still starting Lewis and Blount everywhere.
Yup. I'm starting Lewis and haven't given any thought to replacing him. Going with him in DFS too. The pic posted of him earlier having fun with pictures for the Sunday Night crew plus the reports from Reiss saying the injury isn't a big deal are enough for me right now. Should that change tomorrow morning I'll adjust.

Seems like my whole team showed up on the injury report this week. I have a heckuva Sunday Night/Monday Night decision between Dion and ODB.

Going with Dion for now because it definitely looks like he'll play, hope to get some ODB news before kickoff Sunday Night.

Indy game script screams Blount pounding the ball 25-39 times for 200 yds and 4 tds like usual. If you subscribe to recent history.

My expectations for Lewis today are low BC of that. If he has a great game today that would be a very pleasant surprise.

several beat reporters observed him go through a standard pre game routine - then he walked back in with RB coach.

Still waiting official word.

He's in but Edelman is killing them on the underneath stuff and it's getting out quick to him so not too surprising.

At least the gameflow is setting up for him to be on the field for most of the game. He can score in bunches, it's early.

He's probably better than mediocre but I don't think he's any more talented than Vereen was in his NE prime. I don't think this will be a 50/50 split as Lewis' ability as a receiver will net him more touches than Blount. I just find it funny than most everyone is discounting Blount because he got his in a blowout.

Belichek's history says otherwise. I've owned both Ridley and Vereen in their primes and trying to figure out what Belichek is going to do is damn near impossible. Both Lewis and Blount can be fantasy relevant just like Ridley and Vereen were. I just think owners of either of those guys need to temper their expectations a bit. It's frustrating being involved in the Pats running game...I'm amazed so many have you have forgotten that?
That was the story until today. Today we saw the birth of a clear 3 down rb for the patriots which is fantasy gold.
Again nothing has changed with Belichek. Certain matchups are going to favor the power back and tonight is one of those nights.m I still like Lewis and own him in a couple leagues but A zebra doesn't change his stripes.
