Dion Lewis (2 Viewers)

####### blows, Lafell looked like he was getting back up to speed. Lewis brought so much to this offense

Really sucked seeing him on the sideline crying - dude can't catch a break in the league, comes to NE, kills it, chooses to take a team friendly deal for giving him a chance and hes probably done for the year.

:goodposting: Totally bummed for this guy. What a great story he was.

So folks feel Lewis could be doing all this on any team in the NFL? I'm not suggesting NE has anyone else on the roster close to Lewis and his skill set but I'm not sure Lewis is a bell cow kind of RB for a lot of teams around the league.

I own Lewis in multiple leagues, happy to cash in but I don't feel like Lewis is the "real deal" in the way I felt ADP was the real deal when he came out of college or the way Todd Gurley looks like the real deal. Lewis is a guy with a lot of talent around him and is acting like a pro, taking care of his business and making plays when his number has been called. I just don't think he is special or any more special than when Shane Vereen was being thrust into this role.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

Seems like irony on your part. No?

Why would you quote yourself?

From a human perspective, I feel bad for the kid and hope it's not a season-ender. But from a selfish fantasy perspective, I really hope it's not one of those 4-6 week injuries, where he's probably not going to be a fantasy contributor ROS but you're not totally sure you can drop him.

So whos the pickups? Bolden or White? Im thinking White but noticed Bolden scored a TD today. Yes I know neither of them is Lewis but passing rb in NE should still have tons of value no?

Big hit for the team. He was a big part of what they do. Sucks for him.

Great story. Hopefully just a mild sprain.

After entering last week with Roethlisberger, Bell, Lewis, and Keenan Allen I'm a little woozy this evening. I wish I could have had the same optimism about Lewis and perhaps his long term prognosis is still sky high but it's somewhat rare to see a professional track follow the way Lewis did and then it turns up roses for more than a few stints here and there. I hope he recovers quick, guy fought hard to get here.

Someone said he signed a team friendly deal, the good news is he has a paycheck assuming the Pats don't part with him. Unless the injury has a career impact then I'm sure they will want to bring him back again next year. I agree with folks that things clicked when he was on the field.

White wasn't active today so I'm not reading too much into Bolden taking over for Lewis after he went down. The fact that neither are nearly as talented as Lewis makes me think they'll both be more vulnerable to BB's shenanigans and have much shorter leashes. If I had to choose it'd be White since we saw him take over for Lewis in the one game Lewis was inactive. Him being a healthy scratch this week likely has more to do with special teams than anything else.

@ThePatriotWay: Reports that Duron Harmon is good, and Dion Lewis has suffered a sprain only (good news). Nothing on Volmerr yet ??????

White was inactive today. I wouldn't roll with any of them to be honest.

Outside of FF of course, I really feel bad for this guy. he finally found a great place where he can thrive and this happens. He just can't catch a break.

These last two weeks the NFL has been like the killing fields. Lots of big name injuries it seems. Hope Lewis is ok, have really enjoyed watching him. He would make 1-2 plays a game where my son and I would be in awe.

White is the pickup for now, I would expect the Pats to add a RB if Lewis is done.
What happened with Cadet? I thought there was some buzz about him in the off/pre-season?
Keep an eye out for a Cadet signing, he more closely resembles what the Pats were doing with Lewis in the pass game but he not nearly close as a runner, including after the catch.

I agree, if they looked to add a dude I think Cadet is the top of that list.

And Dion Lewis is what happened lol.

Ray Rice please pick up the red phone.
if there is one team in the league who could make this work it would be the pats. Not sure it happens though
Kraft staunchly has said in the past that NE would not pursue Rice.
If Bill wants him....he will get him.
Hard to think they touch him after Hernandez. This is a team that could have gotten Hardy and he could have dominated in that system (and they needed him) but I never heard as much as a sniff for them acquiring him.

I also don't think they need a "great" back, they need someone with a specific set of skills to fit what Belichick wants to do.

Agreed. The system is the big thing in New England and Bill is the master of finding the "right" guy to fit in perfectly. Of course it all goes to hell without Brady.

All true. With that being said, Lewis is definitely giving them an extra dynamic they haven't had and I get the sense the real team will suffer if he's not available.

Yeah, I get that, I just meant was he cut, signed with another team, practice squad, etc?

Is Randle getting a suspension? I see him fitting more into the Lewis role than Rice. They already have Blount.

Whoever replaces Dion will be a poor man's version of Vereen imo. Dion's handcuff might actually be Amendola in terms of who replaces his production and targets.

As long as Kraft owns the team, Ray rice or anyone involved with domestic abuse will never be an option. His late wife was a big proponent against it, so much so they cut a a 5th rounder over it before he saw the field.

Anyone know when we will find out about Dion? Crossing my fingers it's just a minor sprain and he will be back for the fantasy playoffs. Key member of both my teams (not that anyone cares).

I don't own him in any leagues, but he has been a joy to watch this year and has a good story as to how he has managed to get to this point with perseverance and patience. Even if he is on the team of one of my main challengers this year, it sucked to see him go down in what looked like a similar fashion to Foster a week or two back. Hoping its not as bad as feared in some quarters.

Isn't Bolden at the top of the list? He looked pretty good after Lewis got hurt.
From what I remember from last year, they like Bolden so much on special teams that they don't want to risk playing him at RB. White was the one who got the snaps when Lewis missed a game a few weeks back.

My guess next week is bolden because they play the Giants. Perhaps it would be a game by game thing depending on the matchups.

Knowing the Patriots, he'll be a game time decision on Sunday.

The Patriots RB situation will suck. I think Blount is the only one worth owning at this point. It'll be a hot hand situation and you risk a zero by trotting anyone not named Blount out.

Hopefully Lewis will be back by week 13. I think the only definitive time table we'll learn this week is whether he is on IR or not.

This. By the time you get enough of a sample size from Belichick to know who the other valuable RB is, Lewis will probably be back. He doesn't really show his cards, so even if they activate White, he may not even see the field.
