I think bad calls went both ways, as they do every single game.But team vs team? Steelers played better then the Ravens.
The fact that my posting upsets you just shows you know what im saying is true. Good luck against NE next week, dont expect the Refs on your side in that one.

Your link doesn't work. And yes, the reason the Steelers have the highest grossing merchandise sales is because they have a large fanbase. This isn't rocket science.

I didn't think Flacco was that bad. The Steelers have a great D.
The killer were the 3 turnovers (only one by Flacco, or maybe 2 if you count the snap but I think that was on Birk) within their own 20. Plus the long conversion on 3rd and 19 when the Ravens rushed 3 guys. I guess that was Flacco's fault too.
Also the dropped passes by Boldin and Housh.
The Ravens had it there for the taking and they blew it.

Haven't read all the posts, and agree with this to some extent, good teams shouldn't put themselves in a position to let bad calls be a deciding factor. BUT, two phantom holding calls... both were horrible, not sure when i have seen a defensive holding call on a run in a while and I didn't see it in the replay, maybe I was looking in the wrong spot... that 3rd and 19 prevent defense that balt let happen was their downfall.

Refs stunk, but you have to expect that when the Steelers are involved.
Flacco's 3rd quarter could have been one of the worst ever by a QB, but he could have been bailed out by Boldin or Hush.

Right. But 18 for 30 or 155 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT isn't that bad vs. the Steelers. Which are what Flacco's numbers would be if Boldin hadn't dropped the TD and Housh hadn't dropped the 4th down catch.Can anyone point me to an example of a Defensive Tackle ever being called for holding on a goal line play in the history of the NFL? I'll hang up and listen. Thanks.

Great game that has been ruined by this Jarrod guy from Subway on the CBS Postgame Show. I think this guy was around when my parents were kids. Seriously, congrats on the weight loss. He's getting a bit cocky these days though. (Made the remark that Subway subs would help the CBS postgame panel lose some weight too)

Huge Steelers fan obviously, but I like to think I can remain rationale when analyzing when the Steelers play. This game was not about officiating, it was about big plays. Steelers were up 7-0, had the Ravens 3rd and very long, and our nickle gets called for PI for not turning around to defend the ball. Huge play. There was the fumble that everyone thought was an incompletion and ended up being a defensive TD. Even bigger play. There was Ryan Clark causing Rice to fumble then picking Flacco off... Two mammoth plays and he gets my MVP today. The punt return for a TD, say what you will about the guy flopping at the end, he did, but before the flop he actually was being held. I say that was a good call. The blocker's left arm was outside the shoulder, and the ref that threw the flag saw it. The endzone camera replays don't show it clearly. The 3rd and 19 bomb with 2 minutes left was another big play. Steelers just made more big plays.
Can't blame the refs. Steelers had more penalties called against them for more yards. Terrell Suggs was an animal. Polamaulo played like crap. Flacco played really well contrary to most other posts I've read. He made one bad throw to Heap early in the 3rd that was picked. But his receivers dropped a few balls and his line was getting blown up. That's not on him.

As a Cowboys fan I couldn't help but notice the Steelers sideline at the end of the game. Incredible intensity from the entire organization - players all the way through the head coach. That organization knows how to play big time football - frankly, both those teams. Here's hoping the Cowboys can turn their bush-league organization around and play some games like that in the near future.
lol i love posts like this. If it were the other way around Ravens fan would say how pittsburgh sucked in the first half, those turnovers did them in etc. Which in fact both teams are pretty much equal but the Ravens needing to score a 2nd TD after the punt return TD was taken away and the Steelers getting to run 5 plays inside the 5 to score thanks to a ridiculous holding call was the difference in the game.You can't say that the Steelers don't deserve the W because they made the clutch plays but at the same time no one can say the refs didn't effect the outcome of the game. Of course they did. A good team can still win despite bad calls but it is a hell of a lot easier to win when they get help from the zebras.It's
for Steeler fans though because they usually get those 2nd chance flags in the playoffs.

Is there a way off telling which referee through the flags? I would be interested to see if the same official through the flags on the punt return TD, the offensive linemen holding, and the defensive holding when Pittsbug was 3rd and 20.

Yes, both were holding penalties. And I'm sure there were a ton more holding penalties on both teams that were never called. It happens. Doesn't mean that when it is called it never happened. James Harrison is held quite a bit when he speed rushes around the corner and it is not called all the time. Frustrates me when I see it and it isn't called, but it's the nature of the game.
