Just curious what the general fan consensus is on this guy. With his destruction of Spygate evidence, his hard-lined suspension approach with players (Pacman/Tank Johnson/Chris Henry) yet soft suspension approach with coaches (Bellicheck), and the fact that he seems to enjoy being the only word on most issues sure has brought about many doubters. What are your reasons for liking or disliking the guy?

That's a really good question. And I guess its a little too early to really give an honestly objective and accurate answer. I have no doubts the guy has good intentions. But he just hasnt served long enough to really say whether his hard-line, soft-line approach is going to be good long term for the NFL or not. Although the incredible popularity of the NFL is bullet proof, imo. So I have a feeling no matter how people really feel about the man will have much of an impact on the league whatsoever.

Personally, I though Belichick could have been suspended for 2-4 games last year, with good reason. So I agree with your thought that his stance was soft. But I absolutely love his approach with knuckleheads like PacMan Jones and Chris Henry. Its a slippery slope for Goodell in alot of ways. But I respect his efforts.

Btw, despite hammering one another for the past several months, S, Im willing to move forward as fellow fans of football if you are. No hard feelings man.

For sending NFL games out of the country and even for a second thinking about sending the SB away, I say that he is bad for the league. I tired that everything has to be globilized And yes I'm bitter because it took me nearly 30 minutes to get a simple question answered over the phone because the call center in India didnt understand simple English.

Although it is pre-mature to attempt an objective evaluation I did give him the benefit of the doubt and voted in the affirmative.

Like twitch I look favorably on the harder stance on the players that are more of a distraction and negative example for their teams or the fans that support them. But it raises a concern when he takes a hard line with players but once the transgressor are the teams or management (Patriots) suddenly a much different approach is observed. If this turns out to be an aberration then I think this will be an area of strength for him. If he continues to change his approach based on the entity/player/coach... then this will turn into a big hit to his credibility and chance at having a long tenure.

With the elimination of the European league it makes sense to expand international interest in some other way and games outside of the US can incorporate more than just Europe. I am not so sure a Super Bowl in another country is totally a bad idea although I would lean in that direction. The host city benefits the most from keeping it in-house many of the people going to the game proper can and are travelling and lets face it those who are not are still most likely going to watch the game whereas those in __________________ might not be as likely. End result could be a full house at the stadium and possibly an even larger share of the tv ratings than usual.

As soon as he pushes hard on the Union to implement a rookie-pay scale, I'll say yes. Like him so far, but the soft-stance on Belichek, as well as the mysterious destruction of the evidence regarding Spygate, makes me have my doubts about him.
