Does Bulger scare the bee-jeebez out of you? (1 Viewer)

I usually don't put too much into what I see in preseason games - but wow, the Rams have looked entirely lost. Yeah, I know, Steven Jackson wasn't in there, but give me a break. The line crumbles, Bulger's really looks lost, haven't seen Holt and don't get me started on Bennett. He looked like he was truly afraid of someone touching him!!

I was targeting Bulger until seeing a couple of their games. Are you as spooked as I am with what you have seen? St. Louis homers - what am I missing? (Probaby lots - please edumucate me).

i haven't touched him in 2 years and ain't starting now. it's going to be a loooooong year in St. Louis. SJax is about it for valuable ff guys on that team. the rest is a mess.

What a mess there. I'd only take Bulger if I had a strong QB1. I'd feel more comfortable with any of Rodgers/Rivers/Kitna at QB2.

I agree it doesn't look good now. Still, once we get a few games into the regular season and Jackson starts slamming it in there then their offense is going to get going, and that will open it up for Bulger. Don't expect stellar numbers from him but he could be solid down the stretch.

I wouldn't even touch Sjax...holdout, plus new offense, plus bad O-line, plus aged Bulger,Holt and Co = :lmao:

They will miss Isaac Bruce a lot more than has been mentioned. Bulger has not looked good in the limited time I have seen him in preseason.

Al Saunders' offense may take a year for him to get fully acclimated to, they do not a proven #2, Holt's health worries me, Bulger's played - what - one full season, and they've looked bad so far. There are better risks to take at QB where Bulger's being drafted.

Wait until after this weekends preseason game and come back to this. They always look terrible until the third game. We'll see if they can flip the switch this weekend. The line is better than last year and there is more talent at WR also. I think Bulger will be a solid QB2 this year.

All about health. The healthier they are, the better. Hasn't looked promising on that front so far. Who's their health/conditioning coach, pee wee herman?

I think Bulger is good value where being drafted. I plan on making him part of a QBBC as often as possible this weekend
Agreed. I definitely would not want him as my QB1. But, if things come around a bit, he still could have some pretty decent value. He is my QB1 in my 16 team keeper league. I am trying to move him now though.

I thought the basis for the Martz O was part Norv turners and part Al saunders. I thought Al was in STL before?

Brain cramp on my part, I stand corrected. Now I am at a loss as to why the offense has looked so horrible, hopefully SJax will rectify the problems and Holt stays healthy. Those two things happen and Bulger should be ok. I still prefer Hass at a similar ADP and Delhomme, Schaub, Garrard, and Cutler a bit later to Bulger.

It's not just the QB that has to master it, it's the WR's too. They have route options that they run based upon sight adjustments made in reaction to the defense. It's critically important that the QB has to be on the same page with the WR's because the QB is expected to throw before the WR makes his break on any given route. This is one of the reasons why the Redskins' backup Todd Collins was both given more latitude passing last year than Campbell after Campbell was injured, and also looked better in the offense - Collins had been with Al Saunders for almost a decade and had mastered the offense. So Bulger may know the offense cold, but if his WR's don't it's still going to look like a mess.

Homer here who can be very critical of the hometown squad. One thing to take away from the second game as reported by Dane Looker last night on the radio was that the Line really gelled. That was the big positive from the game was that the line played really well. The stat line may look like crap but that is very important.

What sucks is that it is unlikely that SJ plays in the 3rd game. So the dilemma will be, do they play Bulger with SJ and the first unit for a quarter in the 4th game? Do they sit Bulger and play Green for a half like they would normally do with SJ in the backfield?

The key for tomorrow night will be the line. The statline may suck again, but the line has to play well. What sucks is, preseason games don't sell out in St. Lou anymore so it won't be televised. Baltimore fans will have to do the scouting on that one.

The biggest problem I am hearing about Bulger is he is not following thru on his throws. After releasing the ball he's usually moving away from the play, either to one side or the other or backward. With as many hits that he took last year this makes sense. Shell shock if you will. Now, if the line can protect him and he feels confident in that, he will be a stud. But of he keeps throwing off his back foot or moving to avoid contact when throwing then it's going to be a LOOONNNGGGG season again in St. Louis...

Given the latest news regarding Orlando pace that does not make me feel any better about Bulger.

Don't read anything into Pace suffering an "injury" in the preseason. The guy has made an artform out of getting out of working in TC. And it's not Pace I'm worried about in terms of the line gelling. It's the rest of those guys...

no way i feel good about him as a number one this year at least so far(even though i have him in a 12 team dynasty as my number 1 from last year) but as a number two with upside or in a committee i would feel slightly better.chances are though that unless he drops i won't be drafting him as either.

his potential is good in the system and he has talent around him but as we all saw last year he needs to be kept off of his back and if that doesn't happen he will be a disappointment again.
