does D.J. Ware being signed by Tampa Hurt Martins value? (1 Viewer)

Just seen on twitter ware saying he is officially a tampa bay buc, this move makes sense in a way that they will still have a good pass blocking RB if martin goes down, also he contributes on special teams where tampa struggles a bit. I have already heard grumblings of this hurting Martin but I only view it as insurance, blount is as bad as they come at blocking and pass catching out of the backfield

As a Giants fan, I don't think Ware has enough running ability to threaten Martin in a meaningful way. You have a rookie, so obviously you'd like to have a solid pro, knows how to do his job which is provide some blocking and receiving when needed in the backfield. Perhaps use him to spell Martin in some passing situations, and a good solid team player to have in the lockeroom. If nothing may hurt Blount more and while we are now reading a lot into this, could show more reliance on Martin and under those circumstances, you need a guy like Ware to play a relatively minor but important role for the offense. Or, they just see a decent, solid all around pro who can block and catch a little and figured he can find a role somewhere.

The Tampa Bay Times speculates that LeGarrette Blount could be on the trading block.

 Good luck with that Tampa.

They signed Ware because he has a similar skill set to Martin so he'd be easy to plugin in case of an injury to Martin. Couple that with them trying to trade Blount (potential goal line back), Martin should not leave the 2nd round of a 12 team draft and in PPR, I could see him being an early 2nd round pick (if Blount is traded or released).

Ware is a mediocre talent; he shouldn't threaten Martin. he is more on par, probably even less talented than Blount

I dont understand how Blount can fall so hard so fast. Just last year everyone was high on him. Granted I only saw him play a couple times but it seems odd that they give up on him with the year they had last year. Everything fall apart for Tampa if I recall.

everyone... meaning fantasy owners who look at fantasy numbers only. one dimensional backs don't last long as starters in the NFL. his time was over before it started imo... he was a starter because they had no better option.

If you read the story, it is just some reporter speculating that since Tampa has 4 running backs they need to trade one. There is no source inside the organization for this story. Nothing to worry about. It is just like the speculation in Carolina when the team added Tolbert......Hold on, Goodson got traded didn't he. Hmmmm.
