Does the NFL test players for Covid on game day? (1 Viewer)

I understand that this is an odd question, but I have Dak Prescott going on Sunday night and if players are tested on game day it's not impossible that he could test positive and I could be left w/out a QB. I was considering picking up Taylor Heinicke (who is playing the Cowboys Sunday night) in case a desperation play is needed...I know that I sound paranoid, but with the way players are dropping like flies it may be a prudent move.

I have heard of issues (last season I believe) of players being taken out of the lineup as they were going through on field workouts right before the game, but I know the protocols have changed this season...Not sure if that is a realistic issue.

IIRC, vaxed players were tested on Mondays and unvaxed players had to be tested daily. I believe they now randomly test players if they have reason to and will test players showing symptoms. Players that have tested positive can get tested every day.

Darius Leonard was put on the COVID list just a few hours before their game last night, which I assume means he was tested that same day.
