Dolphin Players bullied Jonathan Martin, Richie Incognito SUSPENDED (6 Viewers)

Yup. The apology has no substance, other than Incognito realizing he was a level nine jackhole.

Right now Incignito is going through the five stages of grief, his loss being the right to play pro ball.

Turner fired.

To no surprise (based on the content of the Ted Wells report), the Dolphins have fired offensive line coach Jim Turner.

To some surprise, the firing came five days after the release of the Wells report, which concluded that Turner: (1) participated in the harassment of former Dolphins lineman Andrew McDonald; (2) lied to investigators on multiple occasions (without specifically calling him a liar); and (3) tried to cajole Jonathan Martin into exonerating Richie Incognito by pleading with Martin via text message to “DO THE RIGHT THING.”

“The language and behavior as described in the Ted Wells report are against the core values of our organization,” Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said in a statement announcing the termination of Turner and head trainer Kevin O’Neill. “After receiving the report, I conducted my own internal review of the facts to determine the appropriate steps for our organization. Jim Turner and Kevin O’Neill are good people who care a great deal about their profession and the players whom they serve, but both exhibited poor judgment at times which led me to this conclusion. As owner, I know firsthand of the high-character and dedicated professionals in our building. I believe in our team and know the hard work and sacrifices they make every day on the field and in the community.”

Turner had been with the Dolphins two years. O’Neill spent 18 years in his position as head trainer.

O'Neill fired too.

According to the Ted Wells report into the Dolphins bullying case, O’Neill stood by and did nothing while players hurled racial insults at an assistant athletic trainer. The report also says O’Neill was not cooperative with the investigation.

“O’Neill, the head trainer, not only overheard the racist insults, but also sometimes laughed along and never intervened. We did not cover this specific topic in our interview with O’Neill, which was cut short because O’Neill expressed hostility toward our investigation,” the report says.

Added to Ireland being fired, with Incognito (and Jerry) HIGHLY unlikely to be back, approaching zero chance.

A few heads have rolled over this, though it looks like Aponte and Philbin survived.

What's keeping Pouncey there? Simply being that good? Looks like nothing is really sticking to him.

IOW, if Pouncey is staying, why isn't Jerry? Jerry not as good at his position as Pouncey (I'm sure)?

Can people stop giving Martin crap, this Incognito has unreal issues.
Seriously...he does very little to solidify his side of the story.
Does he even need too? Martin has went away bothered no one. Incognito sends out psychotic tweets and beats on his car and has a report from an outside investigator and source that he was a bully. Who is the problem? I find it odd we ridicule a person for keeping his mouth shut publicly about a private issue that had some details made public. Sorry you are not satisfied and that he didn't explain himself to us. I'm glad Martin stood up and got this cancer out of the league.

I think you misunderstood my comment. I was saying that Incognito, in his attempts to defend himself, does a very poor job of doing so.

I understand now.

Does comprehensive coverage include self-vandalism? :)

Just tattoo POOR IMPULSE CONTROL on his forehead already.

Good to see he is doing his best to keep a low profile and show league GMs and prospective employers he is getting his personal thing together.

I figured "I bet he did it" was just an offhanded comment and never thought that really might be the case. Man is he a wreck.
I really thought he did. The car was parked in the front yard. The bat was left there, as were the shirts. I figured vandals know about leaving evidence (though that might be overrating most of them). That plus the fact that Incognito is a total freak, I would expected the culprit to be him. He is a mess. He should check into an institution.

He was probably angry at himself for getting the wrong Ferrari. If I am going to get a Ferrari it's not going to be their version of a station wagon.

Ohhh Richie!

Incognito on taking bat to his car: I was just venting | ProFootballTalk

“Oh that was that was just me venting, that was self expression, that’s a piece of art. The happiest day of my life was when I got that car and now the second happiest day will be when I donate it to charity,” Incognito said. “The Ferrari is a story unto itself, the Ferrari is one entity, but I will tell you this the Ferrari is going to be for sale through my mission which is helping the brotherhood, whatever brotherhood it is.”

Stage two: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%25C3%25BCbler-Ross_modelIncognito will enter stage three when he realizes that he is blacklisted from the league. From there we will hear very little from Incognito until the day he is arrested and no one is surprised.

Jeff Darlington ‏@JeffDarlington

After a very long few weeks, I can report Richie Incognito has accepted professional help in wake of severe mental stress from Wells report.
Jeff Darlington ‏@JeffDarlington

Incognito is currently being treated at a facility in Arizona after what has been some very stressful times for him & those closest to him.

I really feel sorry for him now. While he brought a lot of this on himself he clearly can't help it. Maybe if he gets help now he could live a better life, his football career is over. It was fun poking jokes for a while, but now it is at red levels. I still feel Martin should not be given any ridicule at all if this is what he had to deal with.

NFL Network's Jeff Darlington reports free agent Richie Incognito is currently being treated at a facility in Arizona "in wake of severe mental stress" from the Ted Wells Report.
Incognito's offseason has been a strange one. He's gone on lengthy Twitter rants numerous times and recently took a baseball bat to his own Ferrari in a fit of rage. He's doing the right thing by getting help. Incognito's ex-Dolphins teammates were reportedly concerned about his behavior and state of mind. He might need a miracle to save his football career. Only a select few -- maybe evencouple -- teams could take on a headcase like Incognito.

The fact that the Ferrari is black was proof positive that Incognito was a few doughnuts short of a dozen, Who does that in Scottsdale?

Interesting perspective on locker room culture here from Connor Barwin. Seems like a pretty intelligent dude.

Richie Incognito was admitted to a psychiatric care unit in Arizona late Thursday night ... TMZ Sports has learned. Our sources tell us ... Incognito did not voluntarily admit himself and the Scottsdale PD filled out a petition to have Incognito admitted to the facility. Scottsdale PD will not comment on the situation due to HIPAA laws (patient privacy rights).

We're told ... standard operating procedure is that the PD petition requires a detailed description of at least two incidents that show psychiatric instability, however Scottsdale PD has not confirmed this is the case with Incognito. We already know Incognito admitted taking a baseball bat to his own Ferrari -- unclear if that incident was listed on the petition.

Sources connected to the situation tell us ... Incognito didn't resist ... and acknowledges that he needs help dealing with all of the drama in his life.

Besides being the focus of a 5 month NFL investigation where he's accused of bullying Jonathan Martin, Incognito's parents are also in the middle of a divorce.

We're told Incognito is being held at the facility until a bed opens up at a nearby hospital ... where he can undergo an evaluation by a mental health professional. We spoke to several people close to Incognito who tell us they've been very concerned about Richie in recent days and were hoping he would get help.

I knew Ritchie would never voluntarily check into a facility. Part of his attack on Martin was that he had some sort of a depressional headcase issue. This is the best thing that could have happened to Incognito at a personal level, but I am sure he is steaming pissed right now.

On ESPNs NFL Insiders, Jarrett Bell mentioned showing the report to a psychologist, and the opinion was (take it for what it's worth under the circumstances) that his issues are deeper than anger management. Paraphrasing, but I think Bell used the word sociopath, in the context that his issues could go back to childhood, he seems to lack basic empathy and may not be aware of how much he hurts others around him.

Anyways, football pales in comparison to mental/emotional health issues, hope he can accept the help, find some kind of inner peace and get his life in order. He has been described as having inner demons for many years, hopefully this is the bottom for him that makes him realize he needs help.

Incognito does seem to run very hot and cold and comes across as though he is acting the part of what he thinks is acceptable behavior. Not sure who Jarrett Bell showed the report to, but my guess is that psychologist is correct.May explain why Martin hung out so long wondering what the #### was up this guy. If I were Miami management I'd be spending a lot of time evaluating why Pouncey chooses people like Incognito and Hernandez to hitch his wagon to.

I don't think a German Shepherd is gonna fix this.

@Edwerderespn: Didn't know this: South Florida Professional Football Writers Association gave @68INCOGNITO its 2012 Good Guy Award for cooperation.

More details.

Richie Incognito is being held on an involuntary psychiatric hold ... but HE was the one who initially wanted to get help ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Sources tell us ... Richie was hanging out with a friend last night -- when they started drinking and talking about all of the drama in Richie's life ... including why he smashed up his Ferrari with a baseball bat. Sources tell us ... Richie has been on the verge of a breakdown from all of the stress connected to the Jonathan Martin bullying scandal AND his parents' divorce.

We're told Richie was aware of his situation -- and was wrestling with the idea of seeking psychiatric help for a while ... but was scared because of the frightening "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" imagery connected to a psych ward. We're told Richie got very emotional during the conversation with his friend Thursday night ... and eventually both men decided Incognito should seek immediate psychological help. Problem was ... our sources tell us they realized they were too drunk to drive -- so they called police to ask for a ride to the psychiatric facility.

Our sources tell us Richie initially checked himself in to the facility ... but shortly after he arrived, he freaked out and wanted to leave. That's when multiple people sprang into action and secured an involuntary commitment order.

The involuntary commitment is on a ticking clock ... and it's unclear if his family will move to get a conservatorship after the involuntary commitment runs its course.

I wonder if there is a lesson GMs will learn from this. It's not like Incognito just became crazy in the pros. He had a long line of psychological issues pre-NFL. Will we see GMs as a whole back off some players? Or will we see players drop to late rounds because of trouble they have gotten into? There aren't many Incognitos out there (thank goodness) but there are some people that have trouble with fights and generally interacting with society like a civilized human. Is there a way we can tie this into the Nazis so everyone can understand what happened here?

I hope Incognito stays in the facility for a long time. I fear he won't and will get worse. The clock is ticking on his freedom though, eventually he'll be in prison and that'll be a good thing for everyone.

Or maybe just recognize players with mental health issues earlier and get them help, like they do with physical ailments. Seems to me that would do far more good, both for people and for football, than just avoiding people in the draft.

Well, Bess and Incognito are inpatient type guys. Why draft them just to send them to an institution?

If that were as easy as you imply, I'm sure they would. I think you're over-simplifying things a bit to expect that this is a simple matter.

I don't think it's simple, no. I think a better job can be done, earlier, in recognizing players with problems and steering them to help. Right now teams seem to have an ostrich policy and to be blindsided when players come apart.
