Pahnder, what are you hearing about Rothlisberger? Is he going to develop any chemistry with Plaxico?
Jeez, I dunno. :-(I own Plax in nearly every league I'm in...So as musch as I'd like for that to be the case, I think not. I would think that
for the short term Plax will not see much at all -- for a few reasons:
1. Hines -- duh, he's almost always open on short routes and he catches anything that comes within 70 feet of him
2. Randle El -- for whatever reason, Roeth and Randle El seem to have very good chemistry together already. It showed in the preseason and it showed last week too...after seeing two catches in almost 7 quarters of play this year from Maddox, ARE saw two catches from Ben (including a TD) a little more than a quarter. I'm thinking ARE may not be a bad pickup in PPR leagues. Just a hunch, though.
3. Duce. It would make sense for Staley to become an emercency outlet for Ben on little swing passes and screens if Ben doesn't like his other options.
Long term, I think Ben will hlep PLax's numbers, as I think he can throw a much better accurate long ball than Maddox can, but I'm guessing that will be the last of the chemistry to develop out of the other three listed above. Remains to be seen. As it stands, Plax will be warming my bench until he shows he deserves not to.
The bigger question that this raises for Plax is what happens with his contract? If he puts up a crappy year of 45 / 700 / 5 or something like that, will people still be knocking on his door with offers this offseason? I've been thinking all along that he woul dnot be a Steeler next year. I was hoping that he would just be lights out this year, we could use a transitional tag on him (maybe even a franchise tag?) and then get some good compensation when he left...but since he's stinking this year I have no clue what will happen now.
