Dom Davis and value (1 Viewer)

Currently there has been plenty of news about the RB from Houston. I see 3 situations happening:1. Plays all year.2. Injured 1/2 through year.3. Doesn't play at all. He's not ready for camp and the team has been trying to get new guys all the time. In fact, the newest news is this:

Published Fri Jul 7 10:17:00 p.m. ET 2006(KFFL) Megan Manfull, writing for the Sporting News, reports Houston Texans RB Domanick Davis' (knee) knee problems are forcing the Texans to look for another running back. Their only other option is to quickly develop a running back in training camp or veteran RB Antowain Smith.
Is he a value play hoping to get a scared owner? Or will he just not even play this season? Your thoughts and why?

Again, this looks like yet another spin on the SAME story. His knee swelled up during walk-throughs a month ago. That's all we know at this point.

ETA: There's no reason to believe he won't be able to play this year (yet anyway). He'll probably miss a few games since that's what he always does.

I'd take him late first round.

Most wouldn't.

He has a higher YPG than some of the better RBs in recent NFL history... nothing to ignore (higher than LT)

Depends what you can get for him or get him for.
Where do you guys feel his value stands?
I would place him as a late first/high 2nd rounder with above average injury risk, but below average production risk IF HEALTHY. I would not pay value for him if I were attempting to trade for him because his history and unsure status. It is a situation to watch in training camp, especially if he starts to be held out again for knee swelling. If I owned him and could get good value I would, but it is not quite panic sell time.

has he ever had knee problems at this point in the offseason before? i'm usually a big Dom proponent, but this scares me a bit. it could be one of those things where he's questionable all year, but you can't doubt that he puts up points when he plays.
