:blackdot:  He's up against the Cardinals in my playoffs and I might have to play Dunn against the Bears instead :wall:

Reggie?DD has yet to play a complete season, as a Texans fan he needs to be in a RBBC situation, he's injured too often. His missing practices week after week could contribute to his piss poor pass blocking and reading blitzes.

My guess is Davis played too well last week and the Texans can't have that.
Right, this game looks too winnable with DD playing. They don't want to have to rely on another "cornerkick" miss from Brown. That would be way too obvious.

A current affair By Carter Toole HoustonTexans.com Domanick Davis carved up the Titans’ defense this past Sunday, rushing for 139 yards. He also caught seven passes for 50 yards, scoring Houston’s only touchdown on a three-yard reception. That performance came on the heels on a 155-yard rushing output the previous Sunday at Baltimore, tops in the NFL for the week.Ah, but uneasy is the head that wears the crown, at least in sports-talk circles. If you hooked up a nice chunk of Texans fans to a polygraph this week, they can’t wait for Davis to be replaced. Some might have even taken solace in Houston’s 13-10 loss to Tennessee, the Texans’ third consecutive last-second setback. Why? Thanks to the loss, the Texans still own the worst record in the league at 1-12. Three more losses and Houston will be on the clock come Jan. 2 with the first pick in the 2006 draft. Apparently, there’s a running back from the west coast who won a prestigious piece of hardware over the weekend. He hasn’t even declared for the draft – his team has a pretty important game on the horizon – yet many are longing to see him stencil “713” on his eye black strips next fall. Don't think the Texans haven't noticed. “It is what it is,” Davis said Wednesday. “Things happen. We can’t just walk with our heads down and pout about it. We have to get out there and try to get better. What it boils down to is what each individual feels. Don’t worry about all the outside things. Just play football.”Davis is following that advice. He keeps running, keeps producing and keeps his mouth shut. As disheartening as this season has been on so many levels, Davis has cemented his place as one of the league’s best young backs. This Sunday against the Cardinals he’ll crack the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the third consecutive season. That’s why the Texans signed him to a long-term deal earlier this year.“Domanick’s a tough guy,” head coach Dom Capers said. “The last two weeks he’s had two tremendous games. He’s been running very physical and making yardage after the first contact.”That physical nature has helped Davis develop a habit of increasing his numbers as the season progresses. Davis’ 139-yard effort against the Titans gave him back-to-back 100-yard games for the third time in his career. And eight of his 11 career 100-yard games have come in the second half of the season. Over the past two seasons, Davis can boast 804 rushing yards in December and January, tops in the league. Those are pretty gaudy numbers, especially considering he missed the first two games of November with a knee injury that is still bugging him. (Davis sat out Wednesday’s practice.) But in typical Davis fashion, he’s gutting through it. And it typical fashion, he’s quick to point out who’s been creating the daylight for him.“The line doing a great job,” Davis said. “The guys work hard all week. It’s not like we want to lose. The last couple of weeks they’ve been doing an awesome job blocking and giving me lanes to run in. They’re just making my job easier.”As for the Texans’ draft situation, three more weeks will determine the pecking order for the last weekend of April. Houston could very well end up with the top pick. But the draft is the last thing on the minds of the players and coaches. Just ask defensive end Gary Walker…at your own risk.“Do you think any of these guys are going to go across to that bubble and practice today to go out and lose a game? I don’t want to hear about any No. 1 pick. That stuff is, what, six months away? A lot of stuff can change between now and then. I don’t want to pick No. 1 in the draft because that means you don’t win anymore.”In essence, the players’ job is to address the task in front of them, which nobody on the team has done better than Davis over the past few weeks. And that means he is the Texans’ backfield workhorse until somebody takes that role away.“He is very motivated to play,” Capers said. “There’s probably nobody on our team more motivated to play than Domanick right now.”Our advice? Don’t bet against him. Now or next summer.

so does Davis play or no? any takes? I was looking forward to his SI.com prediciton of 100 plus rushing yards and a TD, and 50 rec and a TD

As a Davis owner and bye-holder, if he's a little nicked up but generally good to go the rest of the year, I hope he rests.Sorry. I need him BAD next week.

DD was interviewed after practice and said he will definitely play this week--was on 740 WDBS radio (this afternoon)

I owned DD in two leagues this year and followed him closely, especially the weeks he was injured. The 2 times DD was a GTD this year, he did not dress out. Both times, the Houston Chronicle reporters which are assigned to the team reported him as a GTD on Thur/Fri as Megan Manfull did today. My guess is he won't play this weekend either, unfortunately. And if that happens, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't see the field the remainder of the year.

Man I need this to be true....I already lost Westbrook after our pick-ups were over for the year....I had to decide between Davis and either Gado or Chris Brown....now I may have to go with Gado AND Chris Brown....yikes... :(

Good posting. Davis didn't happen to say he "will definitely play" on either of those other two occasions did he?

Anyone have any more news on DDavis? We know he is GTD but with the early games on Saturday, I sure could use a more definite answer on his condition.

Who plays if DD is out? Wells has been the man, but do they take a look at Morency?
Have you been paying attention?

you'd think with his job potentially on the line he would be out there if unless he couldn't walk....
I don't think his job is on the line. I think it's a done deal. Bush is a Titan in all likelihood. If this is true, why should the franchise expose Davis to injury? I am not sure of the contract situation, but Davis's talents are well established around the league. Titans need to get something for him, no?

Titan? I assume you meant to say Texan?

Domanick Davis (questionable, knee) will be a game time decision for week 15.His fantasy owners should be very concerned. He was also a game time decision for both games he missed earlier in the season. Asked if would play, Davis only said, "I'm trying hard. I'm still getting treatment and getting it ready for Sunday. We'll decide how it is. Basically, I'm just trying to stay off of it." From the sound of it, it sounds like Davis has an uphill climb to get suited up. Dec. 16 - 12:06 pm et

I suspect that most DD owners, counting myself amoung them, have been looking to this game as justification for drafting him in rounds 1-2. A nice easy matchup vs. Arizona on home turf, this could have been a real feast.Man, this kills me. With an early lineup requirement this week, I have to stay away from this one and play Dunn with a horrible matchup. Given the past history of his "game time decision" status, there is little to think that it will be worth the risk of keeping him in the lineup.

Argh, in one of my dynasty leagues I have Davis and we start two flex RB/WR's. Looks like I'll be subbing out Joe Horn for Wells. Seems like a safe strategy to me, whichever guy plays should be in for a very good day against Arizona. I got burned a few weeks ago when I was away for the weekend and couldn't sub Davis back in when he finally got healthy, cost me a win.Horn doesn't seem likely to generate more than 20-50 yards receiving so hopefully I won't be missing out on a lot of points.

another 'gametime decision' chrissy brown wannabe? you betcha!glad i traded him last year, when he was, get this, HURT..

go figure!

:D

Has Davis' actual injury been reported? All I've heard is a problem with his knee. Is this a reaggravation of his previous injury or something that's going to require surgery at some point?

Although nothing has been said, I'd put cash dollars on him getting cut on this offseason.

I'm also thinking of Dunn instead of Davis. I can wait until game time, but with these reports about him just trying to stay off it, I'm worried he might not have a very good game even if he does play.
