Downgrade all Panthers (more than you already had) (1 Viewer)

He's a center. While it will hurt it isn't like they lost an all-pro left tackle.
Did you watch any Jets' games when they lost Nick Mangold last season?
He wasn't the only reason they sucked, the whole team fell apart.Obviously it isn't good the Panthers lost their stud center, but i think people are way over-rating the loss. Their run game has sucked so far, so if this "chief" of the offense was directing things he wasn't doing a good job.I'd wager the number of times they run the read option will decrease without him, that will be a good thing.

I don't like that analogy either. The Panthers have superior talent at QB, RB and WR compared to the Jets last season. The only skill position advantage I'd give the Jets would be at TE with Keller over Olsen and I don't think there's a huge disparity there.

Didn't Mark Sanchez have a career high of 369 yards with 3 total TDs in one of them? Sure, in the other game playing AT the #4 pass defense and #2 run defense who was 3rd in the league in sacks....he did have a very bad game, but that was too be expected. As for last season when the Pats lost Koppen in game 1, Brady set a career best 5,000+ passing yards.I'm still looking for an example that clearly shows the link between centers and offensive production.

Me tooRyan Kalil 2009 probowler = 21st in offenseRyan Kalil 2010 probowler = 32nd in offenseRyan Kalil 2011 probowler = 5th in offenseRyan Kalil 1/4th of 2012 probowler = 24th in offense

Looks like Hangartner is starting at center so the dropoff in play might be overhayped.Hangartner started at center for Carolina (way back in 06) and has started there in Buffalo.
Yes, but wasn't Hangartner starting at guard? Even if his move to center means there isn't a big dropoff at center, doesn't that create a dropoff at guard?
A major drop off at RG. Fortunately, Cam should be able to see that guy coming. What's going to suck is that Olsen's most likely to be kept in to help block.

Pretty sure it's not the center's job to call the offensive plays. Seems like you don't understand the role of the center possibly??

RG3...not particularly high IQ
Stopped reading right here
I know where you are coming from. But you have to remember he is a rookie.do you think he's gonna make all the reads an experienced QB is gonna make? Probably not.Maybe the language of what he said is somewhat offensive, but it's not totally inaccurate. There are a lot of rookie QBs out there that are gonna get fooled by some weird defensive formations where they disguise blitz's and such. it's not out of the ordinary for a team with a young QB have someone out there to make some of those pre snap reads for them.what he should have said is RG3 is an inexperienced QB and has to work on some of his reads.I would agree with this statement, and this statments will likely continue to be true for another year or two. What will determine his success or failure in the league will be his ability to adjust once defenses learn how to game plan to defend his playing style. Much of this will be in terms of making audibles at the line and adjusting the play based on what the defense gives you.Not all QB's have this ability to adjust. so yeah, there will be some growing pains for Newton as he will have to make more of these reads on his own. I'd guess he wont put up the same numbers he did last year, but if he learns from the experience, I wouldnt be surprised to see him become a better QB down the road for having had this experience.

I was just saying that because another poster wrote that the center directs the offense. Obviously I don't agree and feel the centers role isn't that important relative to the left tackles
