Draft Chat With our Draftniks Matt Waldman and Sigmund Bloom Tonight D (1 Viewer)

Jon Gruden: "I think Ricky Williams can still play - he's got the kind of body to play four years from now."

Couldn't agree more (for at least another year or two).

jschwartzlions Jim Schwartz

We did a lot of mock scenarios and Fairley falling to us was one of our ideals, though we thought it unlikely.

Washington got JAX's 1st (16) and the 2nd rounder for 1.10 for the record.

Baldinger just said they're looking to trade back again :lmao: including with Philly :lmao:

Prince is one name that is an option
Gabbert trade looks like a terrible deal.
For who? Great for the Skins
Yes, terrible for Jax
I would not mind seeing Skins trade down again if they could squeeze out another second rounder!

Think Ingram goes to the Skins? They need a RB and what better than to pick the son of the Giants' Mark Ingram?
I don't see that at all. Lots of depth at RB this year and the Redskins have very few picks (1st, 2nd and then nothing until Round 5)They need picks, so they will continue to look to move back. Getting 3-4 picks tomorrow would be ideal.

Suddenly, I'm feeling better about the Bears having the 29th pick. Looks like there will be plenty of good players left with all of the fumbling going on so far. Keep taking qbs. :hifive:

Yea, I don't see the Skins going RB this high. You could argue that RB is one of the few positions in this draft with quality depth.

how fast do the lions run to pick fairley
This is SICK if it plays out. What a turnaround of this franchise. Take him.
:banned: :banned: :banned: HELL YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been half-joking about switching allegiances to Detroit after past 3 drafts. This might be the clincher.
yeah well Schwartz was a former Titan so it's okay for us Titan fans to root for 'emi actually wanted Fairley at pick 1.08at first i was a lil upset that the Titans didnt trade back and get a 2nd and still get Locker if that's who they wanted, but it looks like he wouldnt have made it so they did finealthough the Titans passed on Gabbert for Locker, I don't have that same nauseous feeling I did in '06 when they picked VYoung over Cutler, i'm okay with this unless Fairley goes to 7 pro bowlsprobably because a former Mizzou asst coach is a friend and i have some concerns over Gabbert kudos to Gosseling's mock, he slayed it

Patriots are going to land a player that makes everyone else say, "HOW DID THEY END UP GETTING HIM!?!?!" :wall:
They are just so good at moving back when the talent isn't there. Looks like that may pay off right now as the talent there actually slid because of other teams getting desperate.

Time for Steelers to make move for # 16 with Skins to get Prince. Skins can stockpile more picks and try to see if Mallet falls to 31.

As a Titans fan, I'm not pumped right now. But you have to hope the qb turns out well.
At the very least Locker is a good, tough kid that will work his ### off...it helps him too that he's handing off to Chris Johnson.Nevertheless....total reach IMHO.

Agree with you about VY over Cutler. I wanted Cutler badly, but the more I study QBs (and as difficult as it is) the more nauseous I get that any team drafts a QB so high - regardless of QB (Luck excluded). Kerrigan to Skins...gotta like those Purdue DEs...

You are under rating him EBF. Titans have loved him for a long time. They obviously disagree. We will see

:lmao: Every year, isn't it?At least good value continues to fall - hang tough for a handful more picks, Woodrow....
Truth! Although the Jimmy Smith scenario is looking more and more likely, which I DO NOT WANT.
Why no love for Jimmy Smith?
Fights, two sets of parents for women he slept with actually paid for abortions for their daughters, a first class pain in the butt supposedly. Teams see Talib.

Redskins take Ryan Kerrigan
Meh...not athletic enough.(not just saying that because he's white)Wouldn't be surprised if he runs into AJ Hawk type problems..."not a playmaker" or "struggles in pass protection"Not a huge fan.

ESPN is doing much better in showing game footage, but NFL - N better coverage (no Berman = "Winning"). So far it's a push between the two networks.

And you didn't mention the THREE positive drug tests in college, including the SIZZURP.

I heard an interview with a Bucs scout, compared him Talib. But he thinks Smith won't be another Talib. FWIW.

I'm one of the few (it seems) that believes he networks compliment one another well. Mayock's substance with ESPN's presentation...perfect combo IMHO.

Can be hidden a bit in the zone blitz and having Landry/Atogwe to help over the top will help, too. Don't disagree that there's work to do, but he's got a good enough motor and array of pass rush moves to do well opposite Orakpo.

Pass protection? I don't think they want him to play offensive tackle.14 forced fumbles and led the Big 10 in sacks for the past 2 years? Seems like he makes plays and has a non-stop motor.

I don't know. I followed his career fairly closely. I've seen him play a few times. IMO he doesn't have the mental qualities to be an effective NFL QB. He doesn't read the field well and consistently find the open receiver. He doesn't anticipate the open receiver. He's not accurate. He's a tough, high-character kid with GREAT physical tools, but that doesn't make him a first round QB. I've said for a while that I think he's a lot closer to Tarvaris Jackson and Josh McCown than John Elway and Steve Young. Just look at his stats. He had some pretty decent talent around him on offense and he still never dominated. 55.4 completions last year. 6.8 yards per throw. 17 TD vs. 9 INT. Meh. The Titans really ate the workout cheese. Locker has more toughness and spirit than Kyle Boller, but purely as a passer he's the same kind of guy.

YES Although I'd prefer this year's 3rd + next year's 1st, but NE wants picks for 2012 and if the Lions can get Prince and Fairley that'd be insane.
