Draft Dominator is LIVE (1 Viewer)

I noticed that if I select File->Save->Teams, then click cancel, it says File Saved Successfully league.1. I didn't save anything so it shouldn't say it's successsful.2. We should be able to assume that it saved correctly. Just notify us in the rare case that it fails to save.I like it guys. It's definately going to help me keep track of my drafts.

If this is as simple as adding decimal points to the scoring input fields, then yes it will be in the next release. If it is not, you might have to explain what you are after.
Bruce, I'm not sure if this was a response to my previous post.Just in case it was, what I am asking about is the ability to specify a flex position that could be any combination of positions (e.g., not just RB/WR or RB/WR/TE, but possibly QB/RB/WR/TE/K). Then I could set my starting lineup at, for example, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 K, and 1 Flex, and get accurate VBD results. No decimals.Maybe this is already possible... I was assuming not from Jackal's post that I quoted earlier.

that is exactly what i would like. i would like to see at least qb added to the flex position. but i believe this cold be accomplished by being able to use decimals in the regular starting requirement value.

I ran a league in with 8 teams (yeah, I know...save it) and got some seriously wacky values.

Just to put things in perspective, here a few samples:

Rank #22, right between Randy Moss and Terrell Owens, is DEF1 - Tampa Bay!

I scroll down a bit further and find that the picks starting with 36 are as follows

36 - RB20 - Eddie George (makes sense)

37- TE1 - Jeremy Shockey (sure, ok)

38 - PK1 - David Akers (Huh?)

39 - DEF5 - Baltimore (yes, it has 4 defenses going before this point!)

40 - PK2 - Sebastian Janikowski - (well, the raiders took him in the first round...)

41 - DEF6 - Pittsburgh (got to get a defense before they're all gone??)

42 - PK3 - Jay Feeley (Vick will be lighting up the scoreboard...)

43 - PK4 - Jason Elam (It's the thin air that makes him so worthwhile!)

44 - DEF7 - Oakland (Charles Woodson is healthy now. Get them while you can)

45 - WR5 - Joe Horn (Thank you for watching tonight's special episode of the Twilight Zone, we now return you to your regularly scheduled draft...)

Basically, it has the Baselines for PKS and Defs down in the 20s, even though there's only 8 teams

When I change to 10 teams, the numbers seem to correct themselves, so it appears to be some issue with the fudge-factor on the baselines.

Mungo Burrows, Thanks for the info... I'll try it with 8 teams and take a look at what happens. If you could, can you summerize your league variables and scoring system? Thanks.

20 rounds, 8 teams, 2QBs, 2Rbs, 3WR, 1TE, 1Flex 1K, 1Def. Nothing fancy in the scoring: pass 1/25 yds 6/TD -2 intrush/rec 1/10yd 6/tdKick 3/fg (4 over 50) -1/MFG (under 50)Def 1/sack, 2/safety, 2/int 2/fum rec 6/td, points against ranging from 10 (shutout) to -5 (0ver 40)When I put in 8 teams instead of 10, the baseline for DEF and PK goes way down. the baseline (0 vbd) for PKs is PK25 Phil Dawson. For defenses it falls between Def21 Chi (+2) and Def22 Sea (-2).Joe and David's spreadsheet does the same thing with really small league sizes. The baseline is determined by averaging numbers together and if the league size is small enough, the fudge factor on one of them goes out of range, so it averages a zero in with the other numbers, setting the baseline exceedingly low. I'm assuming a similar problem might be happening here.

A few people have asked and I didn't see an answer:Where does the ADP value come from?My wish list includes a few different columns for ADP. I like to see the spread of where a guy is being drafted. Any chance of a couple ADP columns or a couple freeform columns to put in a comment or two for each player?Other than that it is a superb app.Take care.Sand

Bruce, three words... you're the man!I finally was able to check out the DD last night and it is amazing. (It's worthy of being the topic of my first post on the new boards.) You have me curious about the easter egg. I can't believe it gets better than this. Also, I see the fudge factor in setup. I looked all over and can't figure out what it's for.

I believe that David is pulling the ADP information from AntSports.com. How I'm not exactly sure. I'm also not sure if he tweaks it either.A difference between ADP and where the player pool ranks them would be useful. I'll add it to the list. The Free form columns are also intriguing... I'll add it to the list too. Thanks for the feedback.

Bruce.....Easter Egg?Where's it at, and what does it have in it.....candy, money, secret picks???Enough with the suspense.

Great - just a couple freeform columns (while I am wishing, how about a few? ) will allow me to fill in my draft sheet nicely. I typically have 4-5 columns of ADP data as well as "expert" rankings to help me locate the spot to draft my targeted players at.The thought of having everything in an easy to manage app instead of the custom excel sheet I have to make up and sort every year should save me a lot of time *and* probably be more effective as well. Thanks!Sand

I disagree about just using decimal values for starters. That requires you to estimate how many owners will start each position.Easy example: suppose your flex supports only RB/WR and you start 2 RB and 2 WR otherwise. If decimals are supported, you could 0 the flex spot and choose 2.5 RBs and 2.5 WRs. But that runs VBD under the assumption that half the teams will start a RB at flex and the other half will start WR. I would think you could get better results by allowing the formula to determine what owners should do based on the scoring system.

i agree with you wholeheartedly, but i would at the very least like to use decimals at the starter boxes. if it is gonna take a long time to do that i would be satisfied with the use of decimals for the time being.

Only two nibbles on the Easter Egg in the Draft Dominator?
ok, you have a few more nibbles!! Just give us a REAL big hint Bruce!!! You could even email it to me also sos_32@hotmail.com. I am really pumped about this! Can the DD get any better, I didn't think so but you got me going!!

I was playing around with that section last night too. Oh well. Classic Football!!!! Cool!

That's a flashback to eighth grade recess! Actually got one of those for Christmas 2 years ago from my brother. Had a blast, but my 2 nephews (13 & 8) thought it was "dumb." Bruce--Fantastic work! Thanks so much. :rotflmao:

Cool, i used to have a hand held football game just like that. These tacklers seem a bit faster though.

Uncheck the Game->ProLevel... You can also use the Keyboard arrow keys... which are a little quicker. Enjoy!

49 -14!!!! I would have won by more, but I chose to run out the clock with my hugh lead. Very nice Bruce!!! Now, I'll be even less productive at work.

 When my batteries got low, the tackler at the top would disappear and i'd see how many points i could score before the time ran out. :D

I don't know or care how we got from the DD app. to some Easter egg game, but anyway....Just wanted to first say thx, very nice piece of work, but also ask if you do any upgrades, top of the list should be a sort ability - ie I frankly I don't have any interest in seeing players ranked by VBD (blasphemy schmasphemy); would be nice to be able to sort by total pts, name, etc.

for people that dont have excel, showing the vbd value is great

For people who think VBD is a waste of time, it aint. :)Unfortunately there's no "save as Excel" option that I could see, but that would serve the purpose nicely also.

any way to copy and paste your own projections all at once, assuming they're formatted right?I can only seem to get it to retain one line at a time
