I drafted 8 out of 12 in a redraft w/2 keeper and 0.5/catch league (roster limits of 5 RB/5WR). Tried many combinations of QB/RB/WR/TE using the Draft Dominator mock draft tool and ended up with the following.
.08 Bush
.05 Gates
.08 Marvin Harrison
.05 A. Peterson
.08 Boldin
.05 Braylon
.08 Fred Taylor
.05 Cotchery
.08 Lamont Jordan
.05 Ben
.08 MIA
.05 Brandon Marshall
.08 Shayne Graham
.05 Jason Campbell
.08 Garcia
.05 Owen Daniels
The biggest difference from the mock to the real draft was that in the real draft most guys went RB/RB which allowed me to get a better WR1 w/Harrison @ 3.08 (I had mocked TJ to be the best WR available and he lasted until 4.12 due to the RB's and QB's going off the board).
Best advice is to use the mock draft feature in DD to play it out with your scoring system vs average draft position. It works really well.
Make a list of tiered RBs and WRs. The first tier of RBs should be from 6-12 players, based on your league settings. You should get a RB at 1.08 that you like. Then, on the turn, if one of the RBs on your Tier 1 RB list is available, take him. If not, take your top ranked WR. In the 3rd, see who is available and check your 2nd tier list s for WRs and RBs. Take the best availalbe players at those spots, making sure you get two RBs and two WRs in the first four rounds.I don't take Manning/Palmer/Brady in early rounds, but if that is part of your strategy, account for them as well, but make sure there is a RB/WR in round 5 that:Will be available for youYou can start with confidenceAlso you'll need to factor Gates into the equation.
