Good posting. It’s worth remembering that a person doesn’t need to be defined by their worst moments. There is a world where Carter could have seen jail time or been passed over by the NFL for the awful choices he made that night. In some ways that would have been an easier life for him. Hed be out of the public eye and not have had to deal with the death threats and vitriol from people he doesn’t know. Who knows, maybe the guilt wouldn’t be as terrible. That’s what I’ve always seen when I look at Carter - not some schmuck - but a person carrying an insane burden of guilt and sadness. I think he should be proud of how he put that in his past and has become a better person and a helluva player. It isn't cool to say that Jalen Carter killed someone. He didn't.
As to whether or not he's a coward, a scumbag, a scared young man or acting irrationally because he fled the scene of the accident; that's open to interpretaion. To be fair, I guess he could have been all of those things on that one night.
Aaron Donald agreesCarter dominates today. He is on a mission. His team is on a mission. Only thing that matters.
Sort of. He fills a necessary role as a run stuffer but they drafted him expecting him to take the next step and be able to get to the passer. He doesn’t do that.Is Jordan Davis considered a bust? What's his story?

Davis has a PFF grade of 66.6 which ranks him 46th out of 219 DTs. That grade is higher than all the DTs on Washington but is the lowest PFF grade on Philadelphia. He's basically a first down, short yardage guy. Useful, but not what the Eagles envisioned he would be.

He already has not. Thank zeus for carter cause davis has pretty much stunk. Worst recent high pick howie has made.

You just ignore the fact he is ranked as a top 75-79 percentile on grades? Because he doesn't get sacks?
Aaron Donald has Tom Brady'd the position of DT.

Just tell us how we should feel so we can all move on.
Just wanted to add that if you can't stop the run you will have a tough time winning games.Davis is a really good player imo but people probably expected more in terms of pass rushing because of his combine performance.
Expect or hope? I think it was more of a projection hoping he could become Leonard Williams/Dexter Lawrence honestly.Davis is a really good player imo but people probably expected more in terms of pass rushing because of his combine performance.
Smart call, my bad here.Wouldn't it be better to move the Davis discussion to the Davis thread? Keep checking in to find no discussion of Carter.
Anyway, getting back to the Jordan Davis discussion:theres plenty of games i forget davis is on the team. i want more than that from a top 15 pick

I think he is a very good DT, and ya know, the pass rushing DTs are extremely hard to find. The very good run stuffers are also hard to find.
My eagles fan here thinks he stinks. Stinks? Despite evidence brought forward what else can I do. The Eagles have a Super Team and not everyone can be an All Pro player I guess.
I still think Jordan Davis is a VERY good player. The team also believes this b/c they just picked up his 5th year option.
However, YOU are a Cowboys fan and the Cowboys were bottom of the barrel in literally every single run stopping statistic last year.
Now would you say "Nah man, they are GREAT" despite all the evidence that shows the Cowboys were terrible against the run last year.
And if you agree with THIS premise, and hypothetically speaking, the Eagles had NOT picked up his 5th year option:
"Would you, as a Cowboys fan, hypothetically wants Jordan Davis on your team?"

You called somebody's opinion and thoughts a bad take. It's rude and condescending.
You brought up the Cowboys. Again.
I think JALEN CARTER is a great player.
He is an awful human being, and he doesn't care.I've never been wrong about this guy and anyone looking back through this thread thinking I'm the one with the problem . . . well . . .
welcome to a guy who raced a car and then took off when people were killed as a direct result. And felt entitled the whole way.
This guy's always been exactly what I said he was. Congrats, Philly. You've got a fine one.
I’d like to retract my previous arguments.I've never been wrong about this guy and anyone looking back through this thread thinking I'm the one with the problem . . . well . . .

I’ll go back and reread what I wrote at some point but from memory I was trying to defend a kid who was being judged at his lowest point. I’m sure it hasn’t aged well now that he’s 24, has a tremendous support group around him, won a Super Bowl, on the verge of a massive pay day…and still can’t get out of his own way.I’d like to retract my previous arguments.I've never been wrong about this guy and anyone looking back through this thread thinking I'm the one with the problem . . . well . . .

That's actually big of you. My parents came to cheer for the Bruins as they got older (I grew up a Whaler fan and never could). They actually began, as they got older and time faded, to cheer for Brad Marchand. I never could quite make it there. He's such a dirty player. Injurious. And that whole licking thing he was doing wasn't right. It was nuts and completely anarchic and anti-social in the worst of ways. So I have a little bit of a forgiveness or punitive issue. I don't know how I feel about Marchand but I'll have massive problems looking at him and saying, "There goes a fine man. He really changed."
Jalen Carter certainly hasn't. Not even in the remotest sense. The question I guess I should ask myself—as long as we're both being big about things like this—is would I be able to look at him if he really changed and be able to find a kind of gracious forgiveness and acceptance of him. I really am not a religious dogmatist and I have massive flaws myself. I guess I just get disgusted when people continue to take license and behave completely anti-socially and immorally.
Let's hope the young man finds guidance and peace.
I still reserve the right to thunder on about him and Eagles fans, but let this be the olive branch in return.
Hard to say otherwise. Glad he's not on a team I root for.He is a thug.

I probably thought you were too quick to judge but you saw it clearly. The whole world just saw by his reaction after the spitting that he just doesn’t get it.
Yup. He knows better and he will own up to it.Dumb ***
Drew's reputation as brash, self-promoting and ruthless super-agent is somewhat exaggerated.
Those dbags deserve each other.
