As to whether or not he's a coward, a scumbag, a scared young man or acting irrationally because he fled the scene of the accident; that's open to interpretaion. To be fair, I guess he could have been all of those things on that one night.

Good posting. It’s worth remembering that a person doesn’t need to be defined by their worst moments. There is a world where Carter could have seen jail time or been passed over by the NFL for the awful choices he made that night. In some ways that would have been an easier life for him. Hed be out of the public eye and not have had to deal with the death threats and vitriol from people he doesn’t know. Who knows, maybe the guilt wouldn’t be as terrible. That’s what I’ve always seen when I look at Carter - not some schmuck - but a person carrying an insane burden of guilt and sadness. I think he should be proud of how he put that in his past and has become a better person and a helluva player.
On a different note, it’s crazy that the best player on the leagues best defense (statistically) doesn’t even get mentioned in DPOY conversations.

I think he is a very good DT, and ya know, the pass rushing DTs are extremely hard to find. The very good run stuffers are also hard to find.

My eagles fan here thinks he stinks. Stinks? Despite evidence brought forward what else can I do. The Eagles have a Super Team and not everyone can be an All Pro player I guess.

I still think Jordan Davis is a VERY good player. The team also believes this b/c they just picked up his 5th year option.

However, YOU are a Cowboys fan and the Cowboys were bottom of the barrel in literally every single run stopping statistic last year.

Now would you say "Nah man, they are GREAT" despite all the evidence that shows the Cowboys were terrible against the run last year.

And if you agree with THIS premise, and hypothetically speaking, the Eagles had NOT picked up his 5th year option:

Expect or hope? I think it was more of a projection hoping he could become Leonard Williams/Dexter Lawrence honestly.

And I get that, but it was a PROJECTION based off traits

Never got 3+ sacks in a single college season, actually showed a bit of regression in this regard, where it was obvious Leonard Williams could be that guy and Dexter Lawrence showed steady improvement.

We can usually count the "really good" pass rushing DTs on one hand.

And when one that even gets just 5 sacks like Milton Williams did last year, they are SO RARE that teams pay them $25M+ on the open market.

I do think this the year Jalen Carter REALLY puts it together.

Thinking about his long term potential/career ceiling I can't put him in the Donald ceiling potential, simply b/c Donald was arguably the best DT in the history of the game.

With that said

He will be better than Fletcher Cox

He should be at least as good as Suh, who he remind me of a lot, maybe a mix of Warren Sapp in there too.

6.5 sacks as a rookie, down to 4.5 last year, but a lot of what he does does not show up in the stat sheet - which is why he was an All Pro

Him having 6 PDs last year really shows to me he is starting to pick up the understanding/timing and the defensive scheme much better.

And Vic Fangio basically said "he hasn't even scratched the surface yet" of his potential.

A guy I keep thinking he might be most like though is Chris Jones.

Jones thru his first 2 seasons had 2.0, then 6.5 sacks to only EXPLODE in year 3 for 15.5 sacks, and to have at least 9 sacks 5 of his next 7 years.

My O/U on JC Sacks this year: 8.5

I agree with you, and I think drafting a run stuffer DT in the top 15 is a mistake.I will say, that looking at the class, I don't think there's too many guys in that 1st round they missed out on. Kyle Hamilton went right after him, and I am sure you'd prefer him, but after Hamilton there is like two guys worth it.

So, while Davis isn't an impact player, a bunch of teams who picked in that 1st round wish they could trade their guy for Davis.

That's actually big of you. My parents came to cheer for the Bruins as they got older (I grew up a Whaler fan and never could). They actually began, as they got older and time faded, to cheer for Brad Marchand. I never could quite make it there. He's such a dirty player. Injurious. And that whole licking thing he was doing wasn't right. It was nuts and completely anarchic and anti-social in the worst of ways. So I have a little bit of a forgiveness or punitive issue. I don't know how I feel about Marchand but I'll have massive problems looking at him and saying, "There goes a fine man. He really changed."

Jalen Carter certainly hasn't. Not even in the remotest sense. The question I guess I should ask myself—as long as we're both being big about things like this—is would I be able to look at him if he really changed and be able to find a kind of gracious forgiveness and acceptance of him. I really am not a religious dogmatist and I have massive flaws myself. I guess I just get disgusted when people continue to take license and behave completely anti-socially and immorally.

Let's hope the young man finds guidance and peace.

I’m sure it hasn’t aged well now that he’s 24, has a tremendous support group around him, won a Super Bowl, on the verge of a massive pay day…and still can’t get out of his own way.

Drew's reputation as brash, self-promoting and ruthless super-agent is somewhat exaggerated.

In real life, he's a great family man, 4 kids, saved a drowning kid at a Disney pool and gave him CPR, and help rescue a person from a mangled car on the FL turnpike. He does a weekly Sunday on local TV and comes across as a nice guy.
