DT Jalen Carter, PHI (1 Viewer)

Seems trivially easy to see what happened through the lens of someone who is neither a cowboys or eagles fan.

While it is true that the zoom lens which shows dak spitting creates a false impression of how close he was(n't) to Carter, it is blatently obvious that it was a taunting act. He's staring in Carter's face, he spits on the ground, then returns his gaze on Carter's face, smiles and nods his head up and down.

Carter is a dummy for getting sucked into such a transparent trap.

If there's no real precedent for a suspension for spitting on someone, Carter may be the player the NFL wants to make an example of.
AGAIN....early ejections are treated as if player ALREADY was suspended a game. So unless you think it's worth a multi game suspension, there's no way he gets more then a fine from here

suspension is very unlikely. No real history, and ejection happened very very early. When ejections happen that early, the game the player was ejected from is considered as if it was a suspension. In this case, it's also obvious that it was provoked by DAK, who should get a fine.
And this shouldn't be the case, since he has received his game check.
Thbis has ALWAYS been the case, and honestly, it should be

hopefully it’s a 6 game ban
LMAO Rashee Rice level of bad?

This guy already pulled something very close to Rashee Rice, except in Carter's case, people died in the wreck and he left the scene. I mean, why would even bring up people leaving the scene of a major accident they're partially at fault for when this guy did exactly that? What is wrong with you?
:fishing:

Was waiting for this one.

I am strictly speaking of NFL discipline here.

If you want him suspended EXTRA for what he JUST did last night, at a level of “NFL wanted 10 games/he accepted 6” I got nothing for ya other than “why”

I get you seem to have a thing for this guy but correct me if I’m wrong - The NFL had zero jurisdiction to do anything about his incident prior to becoming an NFL player, yeah?

His penalty for all that was not being drafted higher/not getting as much money.

For the record I do think he’s a psychopath tho

Anybody else think of Charles Haley when Carter got ejected? I’m not saying that JC is bipolar or as despicable as Haley, from the stories I’ve heard. That Cowboys’ doc about Jerruh on Netflix really kinda shocked me with just how over the top Haley’s behavior was and what a menace he was to his own teammates. But his struggles and internal wiring helped make him a HOFer.

Clearly, Carter has some demons. There is a long list of D players that have some pretty psychopathic/sociopathic tendencies: Haley, Suh, LT, numerous others. I hope JC isn’t that bad, and hope he learns to control that dark side and confine it to the field and his play.

Dak spit on the ground and looked at a player with a “sup?” look? And he’s going to get fined for that? 😂
NO, he looked directly at Carter, spit in his direction, then gave a cheesy come at me bro type of grin. It was a taunt deserving of a penalty
He walks over, spits at his feet, head nods at him as if to say “what’s up” and mouths the word “yeah”.

After the game Dak said Carter asked him if he was spitting at him and Dak is on camera mouthing “yeah”… maybe it’s just a coincidence

Yeah I remember hearing all these stories when I was younger.

Bill Romanowski literally beat up a teammate so bad that it forced him to retire bc he bashed in his Eye socket or something.

There are a lot of bad dudes in the NFL and there are probably things we never want to read about or hear about them doing outside of football.

This team really is missing the BG/Malcolm Jenkins type of leader that will get a guy like this to get in line.

There is a push for better sportsmanship this year and he's a big name so I can see the NFL making an example out of him, and by example I did mean missing additional games.

It would not shock me if it happened.

But if it does DAK absolutely will need to be fined or something...bc he clearly instigated it

The Dak thing is comically ridiculous and is the most delusional copium I've seen in some time. Disgusting apologia.
Nobody is excusing Carter. But Dak spit first. With the supposed emphasis on taunting this year, I would expect a hefty fine coming his way.
Spitting on the ground 10 feet from somebody is something different than spitting on somebody.
Spitting in the direction of a player and then giving them a "sup" look is indeed taunting. I expect Carter's fine to be larger than Daks if that makes you feel better.
The comparison is flat out ridiculous.
Not comparing. Carter got ejected and will still get fined.

Dak also taunted and should get fined. Clear video evidence. If the NFL is serious about taunting as they say, a fine will come.

One guy is a (two time?) Walter Payton man of the year award winner and got up to throw away his paper cup when he missed the trash can. The other guy…..is not.

LESS than ZERO chance Dak gets suspended or fined.

I don’t see it that way.

You see it your way.

I don’t think either of us can be trusted to make that decision.

We both got tinted glasses on for sure.

Dak surely won't be suspended and if he's fined it will be minimal so it really won't matter in the grand scheme of things.

But if Carter is suspended, the impact is very obvious and huge.

I'm not gonna de;ve into the mental health of someone I've never met, but I will say so far into his career, Carter seems like a very similar player to Suh, both in play and in attitude.

Carter had no business even being over there. He basically walked into the Dallas huddle. Isn’t that a penalty in itself?
That struck me a little while ago...WHY did ref just stand there watching instead of stepping between them and directing Carter back towards his own side of the ball.
TO be fair, they were in a prolonged injury timeout, so being near the cowboys wasn't technically a foul right then

Dak shouldn't get suspended. He should get a fine since they did not call a penalty.

You are right. But dak looked like an *** there. Carter was beyond dumb for what he did but dak knew what he was doing

I don’t think what Dak did was taunting. I also don’t think what Nolan Smith did was taunting so what do I know.

I also thought Dak’s comments post game could spare Carter a suspension. Can’t find the quote now, but he made it sound like a misunderstanding.

You say it was provoked by Dak, but why was Carter even close to the Dallas huddle ? Referees had placed the ball down, so Carter should have been on the other side of the ball and not half way between the ball and the Dallas huddle. Carter was only there because he was taunting the Dallas rookie offensive lineman.

Which one was that? Where he hit Dak in the facemask? If you’re talking about that one they’re gonna call that 100/100.

No the one where he tackled the rb for no gain and celebrated. Nothing wrong with that play

Ahhhhh. Yeah. I day removed I see both sides. I agree with your boy renuezcanal (sorry I always I have trouble with his name - zero disrespect intended). Maybe he shouldnt have flexed over the RB but I want the celebration.

Given that it was the first game of the season maybe they could have warned the guy. Especially since it didn’t incite anything after. “Hey young buck, great play! Do me a favor and flex over there or next time it’s 15”.

I hope they are doing the typical NFL dance of calling strictly by the letter of the law early, then chill out as the season progresses and call more by the spirit if the law.

I forgot to mention that I alao see the other side … somebody said it best in last night thread….of “A emotionless game is going to be fun to watch“

Nfl is dumb with the taunting stuff. If its over the line than fine but not letting a guy show some emotion for making a big play really pi sses me off

I’d rather they stay consistent but absolutely agree with laying down the law early.

disagree, he stood directly over the RB, looking directly at him as he flexed and celebrated like a dummy.

Turn to the crowd, turn to your team mates and do that

Lmao

What was your boy doing in the Boys huddle? Should they have just ignored whatever he was there chirping about?

If he wasn’t there running his lips none of this happens
come on man, he was on the wrong side of the ball, but NOWHERE CLOSE to the Cowboys huddle. They were also in an extended time out for injury, meaning there was no foul there.

That said, he should have been with his own players. I thought it was a poor job by the ref there, should have gotten between the players as soon as it was obvious they were moving towards one another and directed them back to their own teams.

So then you agree with me that if he was with his team none of this would’ve happened. 👍

Dak was quoted after the game saying he was taking **** to Booker outside their huddle. Are you saying he was lying?

I saw the video, apparently you either didnt or have serious blue tinted glasses on. He was staring DIRECTLY at Carter, not any of his lineman. Also when video starts he has 4 feet clear of himself in every direction...PLENTY of room to spit on the ground without walking four feet to stand between his lineman, eye Carter and spit in his direction. Dak lied in his presser dude
