ya, it's a marathon not a sprint and I didn't anticipate that he'd take over week 1. The field has certainly cleared and they don't seem to love Crowell, they've raved about Johnson and the big plans and the mismatches he creates so that's all great because the opportunity appears to be there but he obviously needs to be on the field. Concussions are scary and unpredictable things and if you aren't out of the protocol quickly it's a concern. The fact that it's been a week and half and he's still in is definitely not good but he could be cleared tomorrow and it's all systems go. Have to wait and see how things shake out.

I'm a Browns fan first and foremost.

There's a reason I have no stocks in Duke or in West (before he left)... I watch the team, and the talk and all that.

Crowell can easily take this job and run w it, IF... IF he can can hold onto the ball

I know, I've heard Bloom and Waldman rave about him last year and I grabbed him as a result and he helped me last year. Watched every snap last year and ended up trading him in the offseason.

As Montgomery said you want a guy to take the ball and run and he hasn't done it...right now he's the starter by default but hasn't blown anyone away that I've read and I follow them closely as well. Not as close as you but can you show me where he's got near the buzz as Johnson? Johnson's problem is health which may be his downfall but I go for upside and see a good line with uncertain incumbents.

I want guys with a buzz and some game changing ability and from the beat writers and the staff it's been very muted on Crow. Right now it certainly looks good for Crow but last year Tate was the guy with West pushing for time. Then they fail and Crow gets inserted and it becomes musical chairs to some extent for the rest of the season with no one taking the job and running with it. and those situations can change fast when/if the guy the writers and the staff has actually raved about gets healthy. This RB situation changed probably 6 times last year. I fully expect that they will sign someone because it's absolutely idiotic for them have one RB on the roster for an NFL game. Even 2 is stupid knowing how RBs get injured.

I could definitely see that happen. Heck I could see it happen even if they do have a lot of success running the ball week 1. Sign him after week 1 so they don't have to guarantee his salary and have a dependable backup and potential starter if necessary.

But I don't think any team wants to bring in Rice and put him front and center right away.

I think he can do it too and it wouldn't shock me if Crowell had a fine year. I like to target players that are good receivers and can possibly play a 3 down role. Based on all the good news and positive vibes and the fact that he'd likely be a 3rd down back and they were lining him up all over the formation to get the ball into his hands made me look harder at Johnson. I think Crow has a more likely chance of success but see Johnson as having a higher potential ceiling if he hits which is why I've chosen him as my 4th RB.

I agree with this. If healthy, Duke will get a lot of run due to his passing game chops and Crowell's lack thereof. With his potential as a 3-down RB, Crowell's flaws/ penchant for fumbling, and the lack of RB depth on the roster, I think he's got a great risk/ reward profile in PPR.

I know it has nothing to do with this, but "worst starting RB" made me think of Richardson and I guess he was a Brown at one point. Shockingly, with the 316 carries he had with the Colts in 2013/2014 he had 977 yards and 6 TDs, so I guess you can have 300+ carries and not have a good fantasy season if you are the worst starting RB in the NFL.

Who is starting duke this Sunday and if so who are your other options that you are starting him over.

For me, I'm seriously conspiring starting him.

I drafted foster, martavis Bryant, and spiller knowing that I might be short-handed for the first month of the season. With those guys out my other options besides duke are

James jones

Dorian green Beckham

Owen Daniels

All 3 of those options are just as question mark-ish as Duke and Duke probably has best week 1 upside in that bunch apart from maybe Beckham.

James jones is intriguing but I'd like to see how gb uses him first before trotting him out in my flex.
