Dumbest picks you've seen in your drafts this year (2 Viewers)

one of my main local draft yesterday, where you can keep up to two players. One owner decides to keep Dalton for a 10th round pick because it is good value... he puts Spiller back into the pool instead of keeping him as a 12th round pick (!?!) AND ---wait for it--- took him with his 1.03 pick!

I was able to get jimmy graham in the mid third round of a ten team draft, mostly because Seattle homers had already picked lynch, Wilson and Seattle d by the 3rd round (I live in Seattle, but Sea defense at 3.01??? I just felt myself getting richer. Was able to grab Jamaal Charles matt forte and jimmy graham! (Lynch went number four overall which is not a huge reach but the other picks were.)

In a 16 teamer somebody took E.J. Manuel as his QB1. Two rounds later he took Vick (not a bad idea, but it gets better). A few rounds later he decides he decides to handcuff him with Foles. When somebody informs him he now has 3 QBs with the same bye week, he burns his next pick on Geno Smith. This is a start one QB league, and seeing a guy grab four lousy ones in seven rounds was a like Leroy Nieman touching up the Sistine Chapel. Instant classic, I was laughing so hard tears streaming.

What a doofus. It would be something if he won the league though, wouldn't it?

I had my last draft tonight. Local league with some guys that really didn't have a clue. There were three idiotic picks tonight.

1. One dude took Rodgers in the 3rd round and then took Brady in the 5th.

2. #1 was bad, but not as bad as someone taking..... Willis McGahee as his 2nd RB.

3. Someone took Welker as their #1 WR and Decker as their #2.

Sad to say, but I'm not making any of this up.

I can top that

1 dude took Peyton in the 4th, Brady in 5th then took RG3 in the 7th and called them "value" picks. In the FFPC no trade league.

So then I get in another draft and Peyton falls to me in the 6th and I think wow I got to take this....no other QBs go until 9th round....Brady, Newton, ect all go in 9th...like really ?

I just got punked.

Mine is more of a cumulative effect of bad picks more than one bad pick. A team in our league wound up with -

Vick (at least only a backup behind Kaepernick)

MJD and McFadden (with backups of Greene and Mendenhall)

Gates, Britt and Amendola (TE/WR are the same)

and the average age of IDP on this team was pretty close to 40. This league has been together 21 years and it was the worst draft I have ever seen - the individual players were not horrible, but the cumulative risk was ridiculous.

12-team league, scoring does not favor QBs (4 pts per TD, 1 pt per 25 yards), start 1 QB. The guy with the 1st pick took Foster in the 1st, and then Cam Newton and RGIII at the 2/3 turn. Then he took Eli in the 9th. He took two RBs (Foster & Montee Ball) in the first 16 rounds (18 round draft).

In another draft, same scoring, a guy ended up with 3 QBs, all with the same bye week. Oh wait: that was me. Vick, Wilson, Manuel. Hey, at least trading is allowed. And the bye week in question is week 12. Still...

Someone took E.J. Manuel with pick #3 in a 10-team dynasty rookie draft I just did. Typical 1-QB league. If E.J. Manuel is the next Newton, Luck, Griffin, Kaepernick, or Wilson, then when we look back on it we probably won't think anything of it... but if he really wanted Manuel, he easily could have traded back quite some way.

His other QBs are Vick, Freeman, Bradford, Weeden, and Locker. Bad, but not so bad that Manuel is much (if any) of an upgrade.

If there's a draft worthy of doing something like that it's this one. Still really stupid not to trade back.

Like most of these supposed bad picks it would all depend on your points per position , starting requirements etc. It not far feched that a person could get more in return than they initially invested especially if some lost their starter to injury. So IMO, it makes it a risky pick but definitely not a idiotic pick.

Guy picked Jeremy Maclin 2 weekends ago in our home league. When we laughed he asked if he had died or something. Not sure what he was thinking because he is in about 6 leagues.

Back in early 90s guy took Mike Cofer the kicker in second round. His reasoning was he scored most points the year before. Guy only played that 1 year in fantasy football but we still razz him this time of year.

Not worst this year, but the worst I've ever seen was 2000. This was the year the Titans were coming off their SB loss.

We had a new guy in our league who had never played FF, but I helped prep him and gave him a FBG's cheat sheet to use for the draft.

He got the #12 pick and at the 1/2 flip he took Ricky Williams (not bad) and the Titans D.

We tried to explain that in FF, defenses aren't worth a top 13 pick, but he held strong and drafted them with the explanation "Defenses win championships."

Definitely not nearly as bad a pick as the other one described or most others on this board, but personally those other players I listed I wouldnt think twice about taking over T. Smith. Losing Pitta and Boldin greatly hurt Torrey imo.

These threads often wind up differently once the cards are played at the end of the year. My favorite... some guy drafts three defenses and winds up winning the league. I typically draft three TE's and it's worked out well. Drafting a player on IR is dumb, but taking two top QB's isn't IMO in a 6 PPTD league. Sometimes the box isn't how it plays out... drafting different makes your team different... sometimes it works.

Anyhow, my friend showed me the actual draft, which was rather hilarious. Tom Brady was the first pick, followed by Peyton Manning. Mark Sanchez was taken in the first round. One woman tried to take Troy Polamalu and apparently was very disappointed to learn that he did not play offense.

Last weekend in our home league one of our buddies who is fantastic at fantasy football drafted David Wilson with the 11th pick. He walked up with such confidence. When a few of our friends questioned him his response was that Andre Brown will be hurt by week three making Wilson a top 6 fantasy player in his mind. I don't know if he's brilliant for his prediction or stupid for not maximizing ADP. To his credit his second round selection was number 14 and if he believes there is a chance he won't get his player all the way until the end of round 3 then I can't blame him for getting his guy. Just a really odd scenario.

a guy picked Rob Bironas in the 7th round....in a 12 team 17 round draft. Then 3 rounds later takes Josh Brown, The 1st 2 kickers off the board. Then the same guy picked the Tampa Bay defense in the 8th round, and then the 12 round he picked the NY Jets defense.

You can never have enough mediocre defenses and kickers.

If you draft a dead player, the league mgr should boot you mid-draft, let the computer auto-pick and find a replacement owner 5 mins after draft.

In most of the leagues I play in--demarco tends to go in the 2nd/3rd, mcfadden in the 3rd/4th and matthews probably in the 4-6th rounds--so although I wouldn't endorse this strategy-- I don't think it's completely out of this world idiotic.

This all depends on what your definition of value is. A lot of women find Mark to be especially attractive. (Personally, I've never been able to figure this out.)

This is a 10 team 2 keeper league FWIW...I'm not even going to put the bench in but needless to say it's embarrassing ( Ace Sanders, Issac Redman, Santonio Holmes to name a few of his better players)...The best part about this team is the fact that he constantly ripped everyone else for drafting horribly.
