Dumervil continues to defy numbers (1 Viewer)

His sack numbers are solid, but his tackles and even snaps taken are somewhat anemic. Yet every time I watch the Broncos play, Elvis Dumervil seems to be a _constant_ source of irritation for the other team, and that's especially true on any down where I think "man, [insert Broncos opponent] has to make a big throw here." The Bengals are certainly cursing his name today.

Maybe Broncos fans (or obsessive haters) will tell me otherwise, but his impact seems consistent, significant, and nationally underappreciated. A lot of teams missed on a big-time playmaker, largely because another set of numbers -- his measurables -- were unimpressive. The guy is the essence of an odds-defier.

What a draft for the Broncos. Cutler, Dumervil, Marshall, Sheffler, etc.

What a draft for the Broncos. Cutler, Dumervil, Marshall, Sheffler, etc.

Bronco fan:Can't figure this guy. Must be hard for the other team to plan against. Sure has 'game'. One of those special players that defies the 'numbers'.A great pickup for my Broncs. Adds a nice dimension to a D that appears to have some potential.With Marshall looking good opposite Walker, adding Sheffler at the offence/game-plan locking TE position, Cutler at the helm all they need is a RB?? and the future is looking good for Shanny and crew.

I guess Mike Bell is chopped liver. Then again, he wasn't a draft pick - as he signed as an undrafted free agent in early May. His 8 TDs dwarfs that of the other draft picks on the team.

Anderson SCHOOLED D'Brickashaw Ferguson at the Senior Bowl workouts - but due to his lack of size he slipped down to the fifth round. Lovie Smith likes lean pass rushing DEs - and Anderson's size, speed combined with his enormous wing span was just what the doctor ordered. He leads all rookies with 12 sacks and has an outside chance at breaking Jevon Kearse's rookie record of 14.5 next week when the Bears host Green Bay. Gamelog not including today's mammoth performance in which he sacked the QB, stripped the ball and it led to the game winning field goal:

The guy is an absolute beast. Reminds me of Alonzo Spellman sans the bipolar illness.
