Most misused/underused player in the league.

Potential HOF'er not to be.
Everytime I watch him I come away impressed with his power, quickness ability to find holes etc. Then I think of his situation and how upsetting it is that we don't get to watch this guy get a chance to be great. Can you imagine him being a major part of an offense the focal point? Oh wait we did get to see that.. He had 1700 yards and 20 td's in 2008.
That said, he does seem to fold if things don't go his way early. He looks like a HOF'er at times and then nothing special if there's traffic in the backfield.
you just described almost every RB save Barry Sanders.
Doesn't Sanders have the NFL record for most negative yard plays? I'd say he's describing every RB in the NFL.
I wanted to compare him to Sanders, but Sanders didn't let a few negetive plays ruin the rest of his day. Some backs can deal with traffic and rack up a short gain.
I agree some RBs are like that, but disagree that Williams is one of them. Even back when he was scoring 20 TDs he had a good share of negative carries. Difference is, he was getting 15-20 and was breaking 1-2 of them for huge gains as he got into the flow (not unlike Sanders). He's not getting those opportunities at all anymore. If he's lucky, he's getting a carry on an obvious running down (1st or 2nd in his role), being ignored in good screen situations, and on the bench when his multi-dimensional talents would be most valuable, and when the defense is expecting pass (3rd). Heck, even when he was getting the ball a few times last night, Cam was holding onto it until they got to the line - undecided if he rewally wanted to hand off. Deangelo just isn't that type of RB. He needs space, he needs to set up defenders, which he's always done very successfully (and his YPC evidences it). I think Sanders is a great comparison; a guy who often was met in the backfield, but if he ever got past the first line of defenders, look out.
