[Dynasty] 2016 Draft Class (1 Viewer)

Per TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline, Cincinnati WR Johnny Holton has meetings scheduled with the Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers.
Holton was excited to get on the track during his pro day after suffering a Grade 4 hamstring strain at the Combine. Despite running with a bum hamstring in Indy, he posted a 40 time of 4.54 seconds. On Monday, he was clocked in the low 4.4s. Holton added a vertical jump of 36.5 inches and a broad jump of 10-foot-4. Pauline added a tidbit at the end almost as an aside, but it's an interesting draftnik piece of info to file away for later: The Kansas City Chiefs put Holton through defensive back drills after the rest of his day was done on Monday. The 6-foot-2, 191-pounder would provide tremendous size at that position.

Cincinnati WR Chris Moore met with the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.
Moore elected not to participate in his pro day testing and instead stand on his combine numbers. Not surprising, that, as the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds in Indy. He also showed nifty athleticism with a 130-inch broad jump and a spiffy 6.76 seconds in the three-cone drill.

Texas Tech WR Jakeem Grant earned a Trindon Holliday-plus comparison from NFL Media's Lance Zierlein.

Zierlein notes Grant has Holliday's speed, but is actually a capable receiving threat. Grant's pro day forty times ranged from 4.34 to 4.12. We know the TTU receiver is fast, and early on he will be utilized as a manufactured touch target on quick, yards after catch plays. Many prospects have failed in that role, and it is very dependent on landing spot.

Eastern Michigan RB prospect Darrius Jackson worked out at Michigan's Pro Day and likely guaranteed himself a spot in the draft. Anyone else seen this kid play? Could be a real value pick.

  • Broad Jump: 11-foot-1

This is the closest thing there is a highlight video of him He is #6. There is nothing from college on Youtube.

NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein noted that Ohio State TE Nick Vannett's "combination of size and athleticism will be very attractive to teams in search of a combination tight end."
Zierlein theorizes that interested parties will be drawn in due to Vannett's ability to "stay on the field and operate from a variety of personnel groupings and formations." The 6-foot-6, 257-pounder has been a busy boy in March, not only taking the time participate in Ohio State's Pro Day on March 11, but also meeting with reps from the Eagles, 49ers, Broncos, Seahawks, Falcons and Jets. Zierlein would like to see more aggressiveness in his blocking, but in a thin class of tight ends, he could well end up being drafted higher than was thought during the 2015 regular season. To that point, after the Senior Bowl in late January, TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline wrote that he "could end up as the first tight end selected in the draft." We've also seen Arkansas TE Hunter Henry and South Carolina TE Jerrell Adams floated as first-off-the-board for the position.

Auburn WR Ricardo Louis was asked to work out at defensive back by one NFL team during the program's Pro Day.
Louis was a more-than-willing participant in the DB drills, saying, "Whatever team wants me, whatever position, it doesn't matter, as long as I play in the league. I want to play as long as I possibly can and produce and be a part of the reason why we win a Super Bowl with whatever team I'm on." The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder last played the defensive side of the ball during his freshman year in high school, so any team drafting him in that capacity would have a project on their hands. If he's drafted, it likely won't be until Day 3, but despite that rather low projection, he showed a nice level of explosivity at the NFL Scouting Combine. In Indianapolis, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds and recorded a vertical jump of 38 inches and a broad jump of 132 inches. Playing for a disjointed Auburn squad in 2015, he caught 46 passes for 716 yards and a trio of touchdowns.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Cowboys QB coach Wade Wilson will put Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott through a private workout on Monday in Starkville.
This is the third time Wilson will have gotten one-on-one time in with Prescott, with the first meeting coming at the Senior Bowl and the second coming at the Combine. "Coach Wilson just [talked] about what they expect me to do if I come in there, if it's to be in the backup role behind Tony Romo, how do I plan on approaching it and then just talking ball," Prescott said at the Combine. "They've been productive meetings. He told me their picks and told me that they're thinking about getting a quarterback with one of those picks. He was saying that if I work hard, things maybe could work out." Dallas has already said that they won't use a first-rounder on a quarterback. However, Jerry Jones is hot to get a developmental option behind Tony Romo and Kellen Moore. Prescott could be had in the middle rounds.

At his Pro Day event last week, Richmond RB Jacobi Green met with the Eagles.
That dispatch comes from TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline, who likes both Green and teammate WR Reggie Diggs as Day 3 sleepers. Checking in at 5-foot-9, 204 pounds, the bowling ball-profiled Green threw up 23 reps on the bench and clocked a 4.54 second forty and a 7.02 second 3-cone at the Pro Day event.

Per TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline, Richmond WR Reggie Diggs met with the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders last week at his Pro Day event.
Diggs measured into the event at 6-foot-3 and 214 pounds with an arm length of 32 5/8 inches. He leaped to a 38.5 inch vertical and a 11 foot broad jump. Diggs added a 4.55 second 40 and a 3-cone of 7.05 seconds. Diggs was tremendously productive at the FCS level. He's on the Day 3 radar. For what it's worth, Pauline says Diggs is one of his favorite sleepers.

Mayock has really dialled up the hyperbole over the last few years.  Getting comfortable in front of the camera.
Have lost all respect for Mayock in the last couple years.  Daniel Jerimiah though I still like, just hope he doesn't go the way of Mayock and be a bandwagon jumper and play up guys for ratings.

QB coach George Whitfield defended one of his pupils, Michigan State QB Connor Cook.
"He has comeback wins in the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl and an appearance in the college football playoff. He beats Ohio State," Whitfield says. "But now he’s getting dogged for the non-captaincy and some personality stuff, which is the same thing as knocking Beyonce because she doesn’t snowboard very well." Scouts remain at least somewhat concerned. "Is the guy a leader in the building? That’s what you want to see," said one evaluator. "So he passed the test as a QB, but it’s more than that for that position. I think there’s some maturity issues there. But his track record at Michigan State is pretty sweet, so this league could be wrong on him."

See my post in the Hackenberg thread. Mayock has gone to the "mock draft/pleasing my NFLsources" side and I don't think Jeremiah is too far behind. Too bad.

An NFC scout who spoke with NJ.com noted that the Giants could be in the market for Michigan State QB Connor Cook or Stanford QB Kevin Hogan.
"If they even take one," the scout said, adding, "I guess it all depends on how their board looks and how it falls. They're a West Coast team now, too, with McAdoo. So keep that in mind. Maybe Cook, maybe Hogan." The 6-foot-3, 218-pound Hogan figures to be a better option if the Giants plan on waiting until the middle rounds, simply because Cook could well be drafted by the end of Day 2. Hogan's been working with a QB coach to shorten his throwing motion of late, according to TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline, who noted that Hogan's delivery on Pro Day was "significantly more compact" than it was at the Combine.

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline noted that "many felt [Louisiana Tech QB Jeff] Driskel could not have thrown the ball better" than he did during Tuesday's Pro Day.
Pauline deemed Driskel's performance "very successful," then went on to write that he "threw about 60 passes and all but two (one short, one just out of the reach of the pass catcher) were on the mark." Pauline also noted that the Bulldog gunslinger met with the Lions and Broncos on Tuesday and that the Cardinals are set to meet with him on Wednesday. The 6-foot-4, 234-pounder's among the more interesting quarterback prospects set to fall in the creamy middle of the draft, with (according to Pauline in mid-February) multiple clubs assigning him a second-round grade. Driskel just missed out on making the cut in Chad Reuter's fourth four-round mock draft of 2016, though Reuter does include him as a player who would be worthy of being drafted before the fourth round's completed.

Georgia WR Malcolm Mitchell should be considered a top 10 prospect at his position in the 2016 class, according to Matt Harmon.
"When the metrics, the film and the physical ability all point to the same conclusion on the player, it’s the sign you need to stop questioning the results," Harmon writes after putting Mitchell through the #ReceptionPerception treatment, where he scored top five marks against man coverage. Mitchell was pulled between corner and receiver early on at Georgia, and injuries derailed his progression at either spot.

NFL Films' Greg Cosell believes Arkansas RB Jonathan Williams is in the same tier as Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliott.
Just to refresh your memory, Williams missed the entire 2015 season and Senior Bowl with a foot injury, so there is an "injury factor" at play here. "I think he's a little quicker, laterally, than Elliott," Cosell began when discussing Williams. "He has all the traits... to function well in an NFL environment." Needless to say, this is high praise. Williams split carries with Alex Collins during his time at Arkansas, and most believe Collins is the superior prospect.
