Dynasty: Josh Gordon is not a top tier player...right? (1 Viewer)

14 position players x 12 teams suggests something like 18 QBs, 60 RBs, 70 WRs, and 20 TEs kept. Obviously, those numbers would vary some, but the fact that he may be kept as one of 70-ish WRs kept in those leagues of yours doesn't really get at what has been discussed recently in this thread.

This tangent started when @jacobo_moses said he drafted Gordon in round 8 as WR44 in a 16 team dynasty IDP startup, then went on to draft Mitchell 8 picks later, meaning the Gordon pick was no later than pick #120. I have never played IDP, so hard for me to accurately forecast the IDP players drafted by that point, but I'd guess at the time of that Gordon pick there had been 43 WRs, 9 QBs, 28 RBs, 10 TEs (assuming TE required), 30 defensive players, or something like that. If true, I think that is a major overreach. YMMV.

Regardless, the conversation would have been quite different if it started with someone saying he drafted him as WR60+.
Right, and frankly keeping players has a different logic than a new league.  It might be illogical but nobody wants to be the guy who dropped a top player.  And if you have gordon, you probably see him as having the talent to be a top player.  You're usually much more inclined to accept the risk of keeping a player who might bust, or might boom,  than of dropping him.  The same happens with stocks.

I mean he had Campbell and Weeden throwing to him when he put up over 1600 yards and 10 TD's in 14 games.  Yes that is 2 yrs ago,
Actually that was 2013, his only good year, where he excelled without much of anything around him on the field. He had a disappointing half season in 2014 and didn't play in 2015 or 2016. We don't know if he will play in 2017, and if he does, we don't know where, but the run heavy coach with the bad qb now has quality starting receivers on both sides of the field so first things first, he would need to win a starting job.  That doesn't make him worthless but it may be an uphill climb to ever starting again, let alone having fantasy relevance.

If he makes it back and stays clean that shows dedication. I think that dedication will carryover to the football field as well. I thought it was amazing how fluid he looked in preseason. This kid is an amazing athlete and if sober he will find his way on the field. Big IF though....

His twitter is just odd. Says all the right things but you don't know if he's high as a kite. Frustrating.
