1. Is our curiosity in Josh Ferguson warranted?
As the great Stephen Holder pointed out this offseason, the Colts drained the well to pay for rookie running back Josh Ferguson as an undrafted free agent. His $35,000 in guarantees were pretty significant given the minute pool of cash teams have to lure players that weren't drafted. Per Holder, the Colts had a fourth-round grade on the running back. Picturing Luck with a shifty, catch-first third-down back gives fantasy nuts the chills and defensive coordinators headaches. So often we get caught up in the hype of undrafted free agents who flash during the spring where athleticism is picked up on above-game intelligence and knowledge of the playbook. But with Ferguson, we're allowing ourselves to dream a bit. This offense could be fun to watch with a blazing counterpart to Frank Gore.

It’s been a long time since the Indianapolis Colts had a running game that didn’t stink. They took running back Trent Richardson at No. 3 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft and that didn’t fix a thing. They ended up trading him just a year later and still haven’t found an answer.
Which would be the hack job I referenced ...Except the Browns drafted him and the Colts traded a first for him.Stopped reading that hack job after the first paragraph:

Not only that, which was glaring, the article itself was poorly written. Basic writing skills and basic knowledge about football is apparently not required to write an article about football. Embarrassing that was even put up.Which would be the hack job I referenced ...
The Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer reports Colts UDFA rookie RB Josh Ferguson has "flashed consistently" so far at training camp.
Durability concerns surely were the main reason Ferguson went undrafted; he missed 16 college games due to injury. But the Colts quickly snapped him up as a priority free agent and injected his youth into an aging backfield. Ferguson has some Dion Lewis to his game. If he can stay healthy and prove he can protect the quarterback, Ferguson could have a role right away.

You mean play well for a few games before he inevitably breaks something and is lost for the season?I'm on board, he can do exactly what Ahmad Bradshaw was doing a few years back on the Colts.
Put up fantasy points!!!You mean play well for a few games before he inevitably breaks something and is lost for the season?
FTFYPut up fantasy points until he inevitably breaks something and is lost for the season!!!
Colts UDFA RB Josh Ferguson managed three yards on eight carries in the Colts' preseason opener Saturday night.
He got the start with Frank Gore resting, which suggests Ferguson is currently the Colts' No. 2 back. While it's unfair to ding Ferguson considering how poorly the Colts' offensive line blocked, it's also true that Ferguson was completely ineffective on the ground and surprisingly provided nothing in the passing game on his opportunities. Ferguson is a quality prospect for an undrafted free agent, but his hype has arguably gotten out of control. He needs to be used as a space back by the Colts, not an interior rusher.

It'll likely die down a bit when people see the stat line from the Bills game. Don't be fooled though. I watched that game. His stats had little to do with him and everything to do with an inspired Bills D absolutely destroying the Colts o-line. He'd get the ball and either be crushed by defenders or face a wall with no holes. He didn't have a chance. His hype IS absolutely out of control.
According to the Indianapolis Star's Stephen Holder, the Colts "still love" undrafted rookie Josh Ferguson despite his brutal preseason.
Coach Chuck Pagano said the No. 2 running back battle is far from settled heading into the third preseason game, adding that all three of Robert Turbin, Jordan Todman, and Ferguson will get chances to shine. Ferguson is currently listed as the No. 4 back on the depth chart, but Pagano continues to label him as a "third-down matchup nightmare." We haven't seen it.

Colts rookie RB Josh Ferguson rushed once for a loss of two and caught 2-of-2 targets for 26 yards in Sunday's Week 1 loss to Detroit.
Ferguson did wind up making the Colts' 53-man roster despite an awful preseason. The rookie from Illinois had a limited role as a space back against Detroit, seeing three touches to Robert Turbin's three and Frank Gore's 18. Ferguson is more of a Dynasty league stash than re-draft hold, although he would obviously get a sizable bump if something happened to 33-year-old Gore.

Josh Ferguson caught 7-of-10 targets for 33 yards and rushed three times for -2 yards Week 4 against the Jaguars.
Ferguson started the game off by dropping a sure first down, and it did not get any better from there. Despite alleged ability in the open field, Ferguson struggles to make people miss and offers nothing as a runner. The Colts need to get him out of the lineup.

Still holding but only because Gore is held together with duct tape.Anyone still holding this guy? Someone on the Colts seems to love him, but he seems very one-dimensional and not that good...
Well that was originally my stance too, but I'm not sure it'd get Ferguson more work... feels like it'd be Turbin with Ferguson staying in his current role.Still holding but only because Gore is held together with duct tape.
