Dynasty: What does your off-season entail? (1 Viewer)

Curious to see what fellow dynasty owners do to improve their teams over the off-season - how much time is spent, "film" is watched, et cetera.

Personally, I take a month or so after the season ends to target players I feel will get a bump over the off season, as well as shop players I think will be hurt by it. I find that after the season, RBs are at their cheapest, as owners are less concerned about making sure their rosters are full. They assume they can pick up a RB during the draft, or later on down the road.

As for rookie draft prep, I follow it more casually until the combine. I mostly watch bowl games, all-star games, and read up on prospects on FBG and NFL draft oriented sites. YouTube is the extent of my "film" as I am a much more active NFL fan that I am of college football.

Also, most of my "film" watching comes during the off-season. Using the NFL Rewind, I usually watch a few games a week (they only take 20 minutes or so) of teams I didn't watch much during the season. Really helped me get a jump on certain guys this year (McCoy, M Williams (TB) especially).

How active are you during the off-season and what does it entail for you?

I'd say I'm only slightly active during the offseason. My league seems to have a fair amount of trades after the FF season ends until the superbowl. Things get quiet until the combine, and really start coming back into full swing during our rookie draft in June.

I have found draftguys to be interesting. I'll generally check that out from time to time. I really enjoy when they break down why certain players are rising and falling in rankings.

I really don't have the time to watch any tape on prospects, and have no desire for it. I won't pretend I know what to look for, and I'm under the opinion that there are so many factors not on tape that play into the future success of players that it's not worth the time and effort.

I can read the expert opinions and the make the "gut" call. The drafts are such a crapshoot for me. So I don't stress out too much about getting ready for them.

If anything I'll spend more time looking for guys who might be buy-lows in the offseason. Jamal Charles, Danny Amandola, Tony Moeaki and so on.

First thing I do, is print out roster grids on all my leagues:

I like knowing who is on what roster in my leagues, as well as which teams are going to have roster issues. For example, 22 man roster, the team has 20 solid players, and has 6 draft picks. I'll try to get a jump on dialogue with those teams with roster issues so I can maybe take advantage of either their good fortune or poor roster management.

Usually can snag some prospects cheaply going this route

I have about 30 college games DVR'ed on vairous prospects:

I will knock some of that out early in the am or when the kids go to bed from January onto March.

I'll watch the ALL Star Games

I tape the combine skill sessions.

Then Sig comes out with his top prospects and and rankings, and I look like a fool.

Im no expert as well, but I do like being familiar for a guy that I am drafting
