I'm super interested to see if strength of schedule matters. The Eagles played a Big 12 schedule. We'll see if that matters. I suspect it won't. But we'll see.
I did hear an interesting stat - Philly has every starter from week one starting in the SB. Health is a huge factor in these games.I'm super interested to see if strength of schedule matters. The Eagles played a Big 12 schedule. We'll see if that matters. I suspect it won't. But we'll see.
Not an eagles fan but I would be concerned that Hurts comes out tight. KC gets the lead, then a Hurts TO, now Philly is chasing.
There's a lot of obvious things I'd be more worried about, but from a "gaming" perspective, that's my biggest concern. I'd hate for the conversation Monday to be centered around how the game was called. I'm a Saints fan and I'll still be talking about that missed call in the conference championship against the Rams when Al Roker is interviewing me when I turn 100.My concern is that the refs will have a negative impact on what should otherwise be an exciting game, especially if their calls seem weighted towards one team or the other.
I don't care if they call a tight game or a loose game, just have the same parameters apply to both teams.
Cool. Thanks for sharing. Of all the things I'd be worried about, officiating is miles down the list for me.

It is but it's still something you can be worried about. It's going to happen at some point this game for either or both teams. You just hope there's enough time to recover from it.Blaming the officials for a loss is the lamest take in sports.
I’ll stand by this until my days are over.Blaming the officials for a loss is the lamest take in sports.
1. Jalen Hurts' shoulder is not right and he can't throw the ball with accuracy past 10 yards.
2. Steve Spagnuolo is a really good D coordinator. He comes up with a gameplan to bottle up the Eagles' running game by rotating secondary pieces into the box. The Eaglestartfinish the game with a bunch of 3-and-outs.
3. Mahomes ankle is improved enough that he is 85%. Mahomes is a magician in the pocket, the Chiefs' Oline is way underrated and the Eagles pressure never gets home. Mahomes will tear Philly apart in the middle of the field and out in the flats with downfield blockers. Kelce is going to have a big day, regardless. But, one of their unheralded WRs will have a game like MVS had against Cincy and come up huge.
4. Gannon gets out coached. Pacheco runs with intensity. Poor tackling and Gannon's tendency to play "bend, don't break" Defense lets KC put together a bunch of sustained, game-killing drives and keeps the Philly Offense from getting on the field. Close game, low scoring but never as close as the final score indicates.
Sometimes the refs get it terribly wrong. Tonight was one of those instances and we all got robbed of a classic finish to, what had been a great game.Blaming the officials for a loss is the lamest take in sports.
Came true.Mahomes. That's it. My only fear is we do everything right and he still finds a way.
KC O-line played very very well
yep....thats why I was telling my son Philly needed to take some chances late with a few exotic blitzes. I KNEW Mahomes was going to score if they didn't. At least take a few shots at making something happen...if they scored because of the chances, at least it would have been quickly and Eagles would have the ball again with some time to work with.KC O-line played very very well
KC O-line was why they won. The Philly D-Line, for all of its vaunted status, didn't show. I don't think KC even allowed a QB hit behind the line of scrimmage, and Mahomes was only flushed out of the pocket about three times.

I think you are forgetting just when that "bad call" was. It was under 2 minutes with KC on the 15-YD line in a tie game. Even without the call, Butker kicks the FG for the lead, and Hurts has about 1:45 left to go down and score. You make it sound like it would've been a foregone conclusion that Philly drives the length of the field with no timeouts and wins. For all we know, your classic finish could've been nothing more than a 4 and out.Sometimes the refs get it terribly wrong. That was the point. KC still probably wins with no penalty called. With a penalty though, they guaranteed they won. I totally agree that Philly would've had a chance. I just think many complaining about the call almost sound like Philly was in the lead when the call happened, and that's what allowed KC to take the lead with the short FG.That was the point. I won't speak for anyone else but I am upset because we got robbed of a great finish to, what had been an incredibly entertaining game.I totally agree that Philly would've had a chance. I don’t think it was a horrible call, but with no defensive holding being called all game to that point, it definitely seemed out of place.I won't speak for anyone else but I am upset because we got robbed of a great finish to, what had been an incredibly entertaining game.I totally agree that Philly would've had a chance. A last minute drive by Philly, win, lose or send it to OT would have been a blast. Instead a zebra decided the game on a terrible call.
Sorry about the loss. Find solace where you may.
Well new rule both teams would have got the ball at least once even with a TDThe big problem I have is that the refs did not make a call earlier in the game in what was a blatant defensive hold on the Eagles. By not making that call, they set the precedent to all the players that they were letting them play. By the letter of the law, the play was a hold. But then if we go back and review the tape, they probably missed a bunch of holds.
Oh and I do believe that game was going to OT and whoever wins the coin toss would have won.

Fair point. But they also beat a total of 4 playoff teams in the regular season. Kind of reminded me of Minnie this year. Nice schedule. Overrated.I did hear an interesting stat - Philly has every starter from week one starting in the SB. What do you mean, exactly, when you claim that the Philly D-line "didn't show"?Sorry about the loss. Find solace where you may.
This was a mish-mash of a post. Totally cannot tell what you are trying to say, per usual it comes out garbled nonsense about nothing. I was rooting for Kansas City, too. Jesus. Good day.

Most people-me included-expected the Eagles to win because of their D line, which played historically good this season (first team to have four 10+ sack guys, approaching the 1985 Bears for team sack total). Hassan Reddick was a game wrecker all year and into the postseason. They got thoroughly handled by KC's Oline, so credit to them. I expected them to get to Mahomes early and often and they basically never even pressured him. It was beyond frustrating to watch. What do you mean, exactly, when you claim that the Philly D-line "didn't show"?Sorry about the loss. Find solace where you may.

Agree on the coaching though.I think it was easy to get excited over the D-Line and not take into consideration thecompetitionfield.
Andy Reid also coached circles around Sirianni in the 2nd half.
FYP, and he is now the headache of the Arizona Cardinals!!!!Most people-me included-expected the Eagles to win because of their D line, which played historically good this season (first team to have four 10+ sack guys, approaching the 1985 Bears for team sack total). I think it was easy to get excited over the D-Line and not take into consideration the competition. They faced a mostly cupcake bunch of QBs from December on. Pressuring Daniel Jones is different than pressuring Patrick Mahomes.

It's not that they can't make the call. If they see it, they should make the call. However, I'm just used to there being a little more leniency towards the end of a close, hard-fought playoff/championship game (not just football but really any sport). I didn't think there was a blatant hold there but I understand that others disagree.Missing a call means that the refs can't make a call when they do see it?The big problem I have is that the refs did not make a call earlier in the game in what was a blatant defensive hold on the Eagles. Yeah I'm purposely avoiding until Phillies spring training is well underway. With that said, I made the mistake of listening to Philly sports talk today and so many of the fans (and even radio hosts) are blaming everyone but the Eagles for the loss. The word conspiracy has come up quite a bit as if the league wants Mahomes to be the next Brady. The field conditions were because the grounds manager is from KC. These people are whack. The ref made a judgement call that is debatable IMO. This has nothing to do with any conspiracy against the Eagles.
Of all the things I was worried about I never took into consideration that the turf would be so dang horrible. Post-Astrodome I can't recall players on an indoor field slipping and sliding around worse than they did on Sunday. Conspiracy? Nah - impacted both teams equally. Every time someone made a hard cut I held my breath waiting for an ACL tear.
The real Super Bowl MVP tonight is George Toma. He is 94 years old and has been a groundskeeper for the Athletics, Royals, and Chiefs. He has prepared fields for 37 Pro Bowls, several World Series, and EVERY SINGLE SUPER BOWL IN HISTORY. His nickname? "The Sodfather"
Right. So maybe the line wasn't as great as was claimed. Either that, or maybe KC's O-line (and QB) were better than what they (Philly) could handle when it came down to it.No sacksWhat do you mean, exactly, when you claim that the Philly D-line "didn't show"?Sorry about the loss. Prophetic post, exactly what happened.Eagles have the better team top to bottom. As a neutral observer, I firmly believe that.
But I'm still SHOCKED at how confident eagles fans are with mahomes on the other side. The ones I talk to are celebrating already, treating it as a coronation. That's insane to me.
They could very well and win big, especially if mahomes can't move. But man are they setting themselves up for heartbreak.
This guy? No wonder the field was in bad shape.Of all the things I was worried about I never took into consideration that the turf would be so dang horrible. One or the other. But I'm not buying they "didn't show". This wasn't some game in October.
Who actually "showed", in the end (2nd half)?
Was it the better team, or some sorry
