Eagles offense with the loss of Vick. (1 Viewer)

Really odd that Desean go from a man on fire to the invisible man. Maclin too, I know not to read too much into one

game but Vick really opened up so much for that offense. What can we expect going foward with Kolb at the helm?

The offensive game plan will be much more conservative. You will see a lot of Celek and McCoy. The Eagles will struggle to score and they will be throwing Vick back on the field with jacked up ribs.

I have to hope that Kolb will improve in getting the ball down the field more to Jackson and Maclin working the first team this week. Last year, he was much better at taking those chances and Jackson did a lot in the 2 games that Kolb helmed. He looked like he just couldn't read the coverages at all and wanted to dump it off as soon as possible.

Definitely bump up McCoy's receptions. The screen was very effective yesterday and the Eagles have historically been a very good screening team.

All they had working was the screen cause the skins played a prevent.

I don't think Kolb looked downfield past 20yds yesterday. You could just see the physical attitude in some players when Vick got hurt and Kolb had to come in. The team went from non playoff team, to playoff team ( w/Vick ) to non playoff team in 4 weeks of football.

Can't believe they wasted a 2nd round pick and 4 years of development on this guy to look this bad

Part of the problem for dumping it off quick is the short term memory loss. The last thing he remembers is the earth closing in on his cranium when he was running for his life week 1. I hope he can overcome the jitters and be more decisive/confident in the pocket. This offense seems to be built more around the big play and if he can't get it down field it's a downgrade for most offensive fantasy positions.

look no further than Week 5, philly at san fran.

early line is SF -3.

if kolb plays, sf gets the win. if vick plays, philly gets the win.

A lot of over-reacting going on. That game came down to three (non) plays for Philly:

1. McCoy 1/2 foot short of a TD at the end of the first half...Philly robbed of chance to go on fourth down by inattentiveness/bad officiating.

2. Kolb misses wide open Jackson 50 yards downfield by less then 2 feet. In windy conditions with no reps all week...hard to fault any QB here.

3. The normally sure-handed Avant drops the game winner as time expires....that ball hit him in the hands.

If ANY of these three plays go differently...and any or all of them could have...we're singing a different tune this AM. Washington isn't that good a team, but they're a divisional foe who's already shown they're dangerous (Dallas beatdown) who also played vey well yesterday. Kolb didn't light up the scoreboard, but he was efficient, and gave the team some chances.

That said...Philly's in a spot next week. SF has played good fotball except for week one, and could just as easily be 3 -1 as winless. If SF keeps heart, Philly may have a very tough time winning that game on the road.

Even before Vick went down, the Redskins were playing 2 deep covergae and making sure Desean and Maclin were not getting behind them. That was their gameplan. Make the Eagles beat them with their legs. They were spying Vick but didn't need to once Kolb came in.

With that said, if Kolb doesn't show improvement after a full week of practice, no possibility of a wildcat and playing an 0-4 team, I will definitely begin to lose faith that he can play at this level.

But no one should be. You can always point to a few plays here and there that could have made the difference (like how three passes on that final drive should have been easy INTs). Anyway, to me it's much more important to review the overall body of work...the tentativeness, the inaccuracy, the floating balls were all signs of bad QBing. How he handled that last drive was just dreadful. Seriously, a 4 yard dumpoff to McCoy at your own 45 with 30 seconds left? That's the biggest worry if I'm a PHI fan.

This is the biggest difference between defenses facing Vick and Kolb. Teams can take away the spy and use them to blitz Kolb or double cover DJax. Kolb looks very tentative and won't have much success against good defenses.

I'm just trying to figure out why Kolb didn't shred the skins defense, since they spent all week game planning for Vick.

I have to believe if/when Vick is cleared to play again this season, they are going to throw him right back on the field. The Eagles offense just doesn't show any signs up life with Kolb at the helm.

It's fascinating how ATL Vick was seen as a WR killer. Now PHI Vick goes down and DJackson/Maclin disappear...

As a McCoy/Celek owner, I'm loving me some Kolb. If the brother can't throw more than 5 yards I'm in for one hella year...

No doubt. Especially McCoy owners in PPR leagues.Kolb looked for DJAX several times and tried to get him the ball. Also during Kolb's two starts last season DJAX was targeted heavily and produced big games. I think he'll be fine.Maclin on the other hand might be dead fantasy weight until Vick returns. Kolb won't even look his way. Even the rare times he went through his progressions he would not look Maclins way. Just ignored him. You could see Maclin start to get frustrated. On the two point conversion attempt he was wide open right in the middle of the field directly in Kolbs line of vision but Kolb forced it to someone else. Maclin threw his arms up in disgust at Kolb and than turned to the Eagles bench with his arms raised in disgust.

Yeah I made mention of that play in the gameday thread. As open as could be.
