Early Thoughts on Rookies (1 Viewer)

Keep an eye on two rookies who will make their NFL debuts Friday against the Browns: Kenny Clark and Blake Martinez. The first- and fourth-round picks, respectively, look like they have already carved out big roles on the Packers' defense. Clark almost certainly will be called upon to stop the run and get after the quarterback, while Martinez is expected to be the defensive signal-caller from his inside linebacker position. If that seems like a lot for a rookie to handle, consider what veteran linebacker Sam Barrington said of Martinez: "Blake communicates better than any inside linebacker that I've been in there with." -- Rob Demovsky

Clark is very good at getting low and has had a good camp. 2 good choices. :goodposting:

If you miss the game it is replayed noon central on NFL Network on saturday.

Week 1 preseason grades

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000685442/article/week-1-preseason-grades-paxton-lynch-among-top-afc-rookies

GRADE: B

CLEVELAND BROWNS: Emmanuel Ogbah, defensive end/outside linebacker. I know we must keep preseason performances in perspective, but the Browns might've discovered their DPR (designated pass rusher) for the season in Ogbah. The ex-Oklahoma State star was like a bull in a china shop rushing off the edge on the way to six tackles, two quarterback hits and a sack against the Green Bay Packers on Friday. Ogbah also displayed the "juice" (energy) that Hue Jackson desires in his top defenders -- a trait that could help the second-round pick wreak havoc as a potential first-year starter. GRADE: A

Gore. GRADE: D

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Myles Jack, linebacker. The Jaguars' second-round pick has been a forgotten man on the national scene, but he remains a viable candidate to contend for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, based on his rare combination of skills (speed, athleticism, versatility and explosiveness) as an MLB. He flashed those skills in two quarters of work against the Jets on Thursday while directing the Jaguars' second-team defense. Jack finished the night with two tackles, but he made his big impact on the defense by serving as the traffic cop for the unit. As he gets more comfortable with his knee and the Jaguars' defense, Jack will begin to deliver the splash plays that made him a force at UCLA. GRADE: B

Watched the ATL VS MIA game last night and Deon Jones started at the middle and wore the green dot.  He played 2 series then Warlow came in for 2 then they switched again.  Jones was constantly around the ball and you can see the speed.  Warlow made some tackles but they were always at the tail end of the play; i.e. the player got the first down and Warlow dragged the guy down.

Matt Judon, BAL DE (rookie) - He may be redesigned to a LB, but the kid has been a monster all pre-season.  Get him now while he is cheap.

Ogbah moved to OLB with the Kruger cut
Wow.

This could be a really nice move for him.

They had on the D-Line with the injury to Desmond Bryant that ended his season and he looked 'pretty good' but really isn't built like a 3-4 DE and is very mobile and athletic and quick.

I was wondering who they had to fill Kruger's shoes and Ogbah immediately came to mind so I checked the depth chart and they still had him listed as a DE but this makes a ton of sense.

Definitely a sleeper IDP special.

Since he will likely qualify at DE/DL as well.
