Eating Crow a la Vince Young (1 Viewer)

I wanted to post this seperate rather than dig up every single VY thread in which I took shots on him.

I have bagged VY all year (and last), I really didn't think he would cut it in the NFL.. obviously I was wrong!

I'm still not sold on his throwing ability, but I see that improving. He is however, as others put it to me before, a "winner." Comes up big when big is needed.

Time will still tell on the rest, but he has what I thought he didn't..."it."

So there you have it.

Nice. So many of us are quick to say I told you so when we are right. Takes sack to admit you were wrong.

welcome aboard.enjoy the ride.
 I wasn't on board until I saw him play in person, in Lawrence, KS. Hated that he was so freakin' good, so much more talented than anyone else in the game, or the NCAA for that matter. But, he made a believer out of many of us that day. Now that he's the QB of my local team, I  VY.

I got a heavy dose of crap when I said that the Giants game was handed to Young on a silver platter, and I still stand by my analysis of that game, but...

Vince Young is the REAL DEAL. I wasn't very impressed in the NY game but the last two I just have to say WOW. He is WAY ahead of where I thought he would be already, and I am genuinely excited to see what he has in store for the future.

Can you please pass me a plate of that crow.

I feel the same way about Matt Leinhart and Vince Young today as I did the night of the Rose Bowl.

Matt Leinhart was an excellent college QB...and has a chance to be the same in the NFL.

Vince Young is a trancendant talent and peerless leader, who was probably one of the three or four best college players ever...and has a chance to be the same in the NFL.

Both of them have looked pretty damn good doing their respective things as rookies on crappy teams. And both of them were good values at their respective positions on the draft board.

I don't watch a lot of college ball, but I did watch the championship last year. Hopped on the bandwagon then and am staying on.

and btw ... hucks you gotta flip that #### around

Leinart < Vince Young

Was wrong about him too. Thought NFL was done with the whole running QB thing after seeing how Vick has turned out to be mostly garbage as far as winning goes (and injured often). This guy might out Vick Vick.

Do any of you guys really believe VY vs. Leinert has been decided already based on a handful of games? Sheesh.
I think most people would agree that it's obvious it can't ultimately be decided at this point. People are giving their opinions based on what we've seen so far.I think both have played very well, but that Vince sure looks like a "special" player.

Both Leinart and Young were brought in as starters when there were no expectations for them. It's a good situation for a rookie QB-- there's a lot less pressure to win. Neither team's fans were expecting to make the playoffs.

I'll know more about their abilities when they start the season 0-0 and have the normal pressure a QB endures. It's harder to play loose when you're expected to win. Both have shown talent with different styles, but what impresses me about Young is the fact that he doesn't have much in the way of receivers or offensive help. What does he really have except for Bennett?

I'm not sure that either of them will be a playoff QB (way too early to tell) but Young is a lot of fun to watch.

Hi, I'm Pigskinliquor and I was also wrong about VY. As an Aggie fan I really didn't want to see the t-sip do well at the next level, but my desires have not been fulfilled. He is the real deal.

I was way off too. I don't remember talking about it on the boards but I thought he would suck in the NFL. Wrong again. :bag:

Keep your Leainart vs VY crap to any of the other 10000000000000000 threads.

THIS THREAD IS FOR EATING CROW AND NOTHING ELSE!

BTW,  to Matuski for being big enough to give VY his props when he obviously didn't believe in VY!

That is funny, I was coming to the site to do the same thing. I think you pretty much summed up my thoughts. Not completely sold on his passing ability, but nobody can doubt his leadership and the difference he has made on that team. If he puts it all together, he will be great for many years, if not, he'll probably just will his team to a .500 record every year until they put some talent around him to get them over the hump.B. Leinart > VY
Regardless of accuracy, this matters because...
When it comes to women, Leinart > VY. That's about all I can decipher after watching each of them play half a season. That being said, I don't know which is a more amazing feat - Leinart surviving and winning behind a pathetic Arizona O-Line or Vince Young making something of nothing in Tennessee.

Yeah, that and only one of the players is relevant to this particular thread.

i hated on this guy all last year and this year, telling everyone why he wasnt good. "crappy throwing motion, always runs to his right, crappy wonderlic, etc...." then when it came time to my dynasty rookie draft, what do i do. draft vince young. this little, little voice in my head told me it would be worth if he panned out. so im here to say that im very very happy i was wrong. so ill eat my crow, and :banned: to it as well.

I've always been partial to VY.. but I became a true (and blue) believer when he sidestepped, hurdled, stiff armed and generally found every way imaginable to run through and around my Wolverines in the Rose Bowl a couple years back.

Then, he re-emphasized why I shouldn't doubt him when he beat the Buckeyes in Columbus last year - doing it with his arm as much as with his legs - and then again in the Nat'l Championship game against USC.

I like Leinart plenty... but in no way do I think he's a better PLAYER than VY. Stats are great, but VY has intangibles that are incomparable.. and his stats aren't all bad either.

Just heard a stat here on local radio that I don't know how to verify.

Supposedly, Vince Young has more 3rd down conversions for 1st downs rushing than anyone else in the NFL...including all running backs. Even more impressive, he didn't even start until game 4.

Any suggestions on how to verify?
