Ed Reed (1 Viewer)

What is everyones opinion on him this year after missing last year. Is he still a stud? I couldnt find any info on him.

Here's a face-off we did a couple months back. It's on the subscriber server now but wasn't subscriber-only content at the time so you should still be able to access it either way.

Reed's value is pretty dependent on big plays. If you're scoring system values steady consistent tacklers, you assume some risk with Reed. He'll have some huge weeks and some stinkers.

The injury isn't an issue and the scheme shouldn't hurt him much. Like Polamalu, Reed's talent is such that he'll transcend the limitations of his scheme because he (and his coaches) gets him(self) in position to make plays.

Reed is the kinda a guy you're best to leave in there every week or you'll miss out on his big games. His season totals should be solid.

so you would take adrian wilson and his consitancy from week to week than reeds big hit or big miss each week
Not a real fair comparison because Adrian Wilson's consistency is on the level of stud #1 overall production. I'd take Wilson in nearly every format. The better question would be -- Would you rather have Ed Reed's inconsistent 10-12 point weeks and 3-4 point weeks (never knowing when they're coming) or Kerry Rhodes or Bob Sanders or Madieu Williams consistent 7-9 point weeks with upside?

I guess it could depend on how many you DB's you start. Like Jean, I prefer the more consistent types, but in my dynasty league, we start 4 DB's and as long as I have 3 that fit the consistent profile, I don't mind taking a chance on an Ed Reed / Sean Taylor type.

:goodposting: :yes:If you can absorb the stinkers, the super-studly games can pull out games (and push you toward championships) singlehandedly.
