Electronic Cigarettes (1 Viewer)

I feel completely in over my head with all the battery/tank/juice talk. I started buying the disposables, as recommended above, and it's definitely working for me - I've been buying Blu. I assume that the Blue "starter kits" are a complete ripoff and ultimately a terrible idea long term, but really need to do something simple like that where all I have to do is charge the thing and slip something onto the end when it runs out. If it's harder than lighting a cigarette, I'm sure I'll go back to smoking cigarettes instead. Are there any inexpensive kits that work like that from the places all you hep cats are using? I mean, something where all I have to do is charge it and slip on a new whatever-the-hell-makes-it-vaporize that's filled with liquid and go? Or am I just the target market for the overpriced crap like Blu?
IMO, the problem with cartomizers is they run out of juice quickly. I'd advise getting a 3.5ml tank, even for starters. It saves the frustration of realizing the carts are OK if you're a light smoker, but not for regular or heavy smokers. I think its way easier to fill a tank and be set for 4-8 hours of heavy vaping. Just pick up and blast away. With carts you're gonna constantly be swapping them out which I find to be a PITA. Plus with a tank you how much juice you've got left, not so with carts. Lastly, if you dont refil carts and have to keep buying new ones, it gets more costly. There's a good YouTube video made by someone over at ECF showing how to fill and refill tanks and changing out the tank carts. Once you fill and refill a couple of times its pretty simple. It takes me about 20 seconds to fill my tank, which I do a few times a day. Not much longer than packing and opening a pack of smokes.Again, just my opinion. Good luck on whatever you decide, heres hoping it works for you. :banned:
I fill my caromizers quite a few times a day by dripping. Does the tank work with the Titan KR-808 batteries that I have? If so, all I need is a 3.5ml tank and tank cartomizers, correct? I think you addressed this earlier, but I just want to be sure... Oh, and how long do the tank cartomizers last with pretty heavy vaping before a new one needs to be put on?

Freaking backsliding again. Chantix works like a charm, but once I stop taking it the next time I get drunk, boom, cig in mouth, addicted all over again.

For those of you who aren't up on my past, I can't get any of this shipped to my house without my wife going bananas. So, given that, I can get a few different brands locally, but I assume most are crap. Is Blu worth trying? I haven't been able to stick with the vaping the two times I've tried it previously (N-Joy and SafeCig). Safecig almost worked, but I would've had to keep shipping it to my house and that became a problem. Plus, it didn't really replace smoking the real thing for me.

ETA: I had safecigs shipped to work, but then work told me that I couldn't have stuff delivered here that isn't for work. So thats out. I need to locally source this. In Bethesda, MD if that helps.

Blu tastes like ###.I've been enjoying Fin, strangely enough. And they sell disposables.

Disposables are more pricey though, right? I'd like to keep costs down if possible.ETA: can deal with poor taste (cigs taste awful imo), but I need a fair amount of smoke/steam to shoot down into my lungs

Fin also sells a non-disposable version that's pretty cheap. I haven't tried it.Big thing for me is I can really feel a drag from a Fin. Can't feel it at all from a Blu.

I've noticed near me that the larger head shops have started carrying tons of e-cig gear. If you need to source something locally and the uber-cheap stuff you can get at 7-11 isn't cutting it, this may be your solution.

A quick google search revealed 8 billion head shops in Baltimore, but all I could find in your town is Bethesda Tobacco at 4916 Del Ray Blvd. No idea if this is a head shop or a proper tobacconist, their website appears to be down, so I don't even know 100% for sure if the place is still open - it has 1 Yelp review from about a year ago.

Why is the Blu starter kit a ripoff? I got it and really love it. It's the perfect thing for me because the case is a charger as well so when I'm stuck in court all day I still have them and never run out of battery. And the vanilla option they have is pretty damn good. Wife even picked up a little bit of a smell of it and actually likes it - don't know if its the smoke or just residue smell from the liquid on the parts themselves, but if she isn't mad about I'm good.

There was a noticeable loss of drag for me on the Blu as well, however I accidentally bought the high nicotine parts once and the drag on that is perfect. I use less to compensate and have had no problem with it.

Can you get a PO Box? For a few bucks a month you could have a place to have em delivered and you could order one of the better brands (which would definitely increase the odds of it working for you, IMO)I dont recall the backstory, so I'm curious why your wife doesn't want e cig stuffed shipped to your house? I'd think anything that helped you quit cigarettes would be welcome, especially since there's no smoke or nasty smell. Not judging, just curious.I wish I could give you better advice but I've never tried Blu or the other brands you listed. Everybody is different, what doesn't work for some works for others, so I say give Blu a shot, you won't know unless you try em. Good luck man!

Picked up a blu stater kit on my way to the gym tonight. So far, is better than both njoy and safe CIG. More smoke, less electric tin feeling. This might work.

For those who have been on this path for a long time, does your sense of smell and taste improve, your lung capacity, etc, just like if you quit child turkey? I know there is at least no tar or co2. And I know it's certainly healthier. But I'm still inhaling nicotine and I'm not quite sure what to expect aftera month or so since I've never been able to abandon analogs. I'm hopingi can this time.

Been vaping for over 2 years with an occasional smoke here or there. My sense of smell and taste is back close to 100% if not 100%. Lungs are clear, and I can't remember the last time I coughed (not counting bong hits). I dont get winded after strenuous activity like i did when i smoked. Also, Ive only been sick once since I switched (strep throat), where I used to get sick every few months before. The smoke and tar is responsible for all the nastiness. After a month or so you should start to feel noticeably better, and you will be able to smell a smoker when they walk into a room. I personally feel like I was never a smoker, although I'm sure my lungs still show signs - you can't just erase 25 years of damage.Gllllllll peas.

One of the great things about e-cigs is you only need to puff what you need to be satisfied as opposed to committing a whole cigarette on the deck or wherever. It's always there when you need it. I definitely feel better lung capacity and improved sense of taste. I feel like a non smoker basically. I like vaping so much more for so many reasons. Convenience, taste, health, cost, no stink stuck to your clothes or house. It's basically a win situation all the way around. To a smoker trying to quit it's the best invention ever created in my opinion. I laugh when I think back at my attitude towards the kiosk at the mall with a couple of guys vaping. Seemed like just silly thing which I didn't pay any attention to. It wasn't until this thread when I decided to try it. So glad I did. :thumbup:Right now vaping sweet tart from alien vision. What tastes better? Sweet tart or a cigarette? I'll take a sweet tart thanks.

because it's like $70 when a battery and charger for other ways of vaping cost like $40. If you like it, awesome. I didn't like how blu tasted, so I definitely wasn't buying a $70 kit.

Any good juice recommendations? Vaping blue mists cola and caramel tobacco and both are good but been on them for months and ready for a change. Prefer sweeter juices and usea tank so have trouble with thicker stuff.

You may like some of my butterscotch or my new favorite Vanilla custard. I just finished making 100ml of each so I have some to share. I also made 30ml of a really nice caramel apple with a little peppermint and menthol.

My go to is a chocolate mint from MadVapes. Love it, and it doesn't gunk up my tanks. Another good option is banana creme from Vape-Rite.

Alright, I've been using disposable ecigarettes for a couple weeks now and am definitely noticing a huge difference in my life. I'm breathing better, I'm more alert, I'm sleeping much better, snoring less, and as a weird, great side effect my coffee consumption has cut to about 1/3 of what it was. I think being able to use this thing in my office keeps me from having to pound coffee to stay awake.

Because of the "less coffee" angle, I'm a lot less jittery.

My wife doesn't mind me using it around her, I no longer feel like I have to hide my nicotine consumption to make sure she isn't worried about my health, and, holy ####, I realized tonight that I can "smoke" in bed while hanging out and surfing the net at night.

This is seriously the best thing I've done for myself in years. Ordered a Volt, as recommended. Unbelievable win. Thanks for helping me out with this stuff, guys.

Yeah, I haven't even gotten my Volt yet. Still working with the disposables. It's spectacular.

Okay so my girlfriend was a "half a pack a day" marlboro ultra light smoker for a long time who's been vaping for a couple months now and it seems to be working for her. I've always been a "Social smoker" (for the last 15 years or so) who may have a cig or two once a week (or three weeks) while drinking but not only don't crave cigs when not drinking, but they make me nauseous.

She Got this kit off Groupon:

http://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-ecig-kits

1) HOw is that kit performance wise? She/we have no basis of comparison.

2) What vaporizers are better?

3) I hear people talking about tanks and juice. Are those refillable carts or something? Any good info on the basics of those?

4) Suggestions on anything else would be awesome.

Looking to support her move to vaping. We just celebrated 10 years this past weekend and looking to keep her around for a while.

This is what I use Volcano tankBasically you have the cart inside the tank. The cart has a little hole on the bottom that sucks up the juice you put in the tank. The tank with the cart screws on to the battery.

Looking at the picture you linked to that seems like the basic starter kit and performance would be fine for a while. If she likes it she may want to move on to something like I have. Less hassle in the long run and a more enjoyable experience.

If people researched before they took the plunge those kits wouldn't sell as good as they do because people would start with the more economical and better kits/products. That said, if the product she's using is working for her then thats great, more power to her.

$25 for that whole setup is ridiculously overpriced  Is there some site that's just flat out giving them away or something?

1. No idea what the performance is like. I would guess its like a standard 808 mall e cig. The batteries won't last long and the liquid is probably from China. My guess is they are not refillable.

2. The best vaporizers are the advanced battery mods. Provari, GG, Reo, Ego, Darwin. You can revulate your voltage and get you desired wattage for the specific juice you're using. They still cost less than that kit. The cig stick styles are really the worst but people really like the familiarity they have with the cig style.

3. The tanks are refillable. They have a cartomizers with a hole that keeps the filler wet when you vape. Just type cartomizers tank on YouTube and you should get a good idea.

4. Check out ecig forum, you tube videos by Grimm Green or basil ray or igetcha69. They reviewed just about every product.

The original price is ridiculous. Not bad for something to try out. Yes there are people that are giving stuff away. If you let it be known you want to try it they will send you free samples. I've been to a couple meets and they gave everyone kits. I took about 3 volt kits to pass out at work.

I was gonna say... Yeah, Most prices on groupon like that are insane. At $25 I thought it was a decent way for her to get into eCigs. I'm now looking for a way to get her a better setup to increase the odds it sticks over reg cigs (she's relapsed a couple times while drinking and had a couple cigs).

I don't care to try to digest a whole new ecig forum. This thread seems to be populated by a lot of folks who have already walked the path I'm looking to go on here... figured I'd lean on you guys for the cliffs notes. My GB Cunk linked to this one.... http://www.volcanoecigs.com/inferno-kit.html

How does it compare to the 5-6 models you posted names of up there?

She Got this kit off Groupon:

http://www.groupon.c...ls/gg-ecig-kits

1) HOw is that kit performance wise? She/we have no basis of comparison.

2) What vaporizers are better?

3) I hear people talking about tanks and juice. Are those refillable carts or something? Any good info on the basics of those?

4) Suggestions on anything else would be awesome.

Looking to support her move to vaping. We just celebrated 10 years this past weekend and looking to keep her around for a while.
That is rediculously overpriced.
$25 for that whole setup is ridiculously overpriced  Is there some site that's just flat out giving them away or something?
The original price is ridiculous. Not bad for something to try out. Yes there are people that are giving stuff away. If you let it be known you want to try it they will send you free samples. I've been to a couple meets and they gave everyone kits. I took about 3 volt kits to pass out at work.
How do you find these "meets?"

The ecig forum has local sub forums for people in your area. People talk about local shops and schedule meets.

Meets?

The battery is going to gradually drain making the flavor and vapor less with each vape. The others are regulated so you get the same vape every time. Your battery life on the cig style is only going to last an hour or two. The others will last all day.

Good info there!

I live in Silver Spring. You can ship it to my house and come and pick it up when it arrives. I being serious. I know you're a good dude for the work you did at the oth:e:r place when that Tomato guy started running his mouth.
Lol, that was a long time ago. I practically forgot about that jerk.

Okay, I was sick of paying $10 a pop for disposables while waiting for my Volt and a gas station had a Fin rechargeable with six refills on sale for $20. Bought it. I'm now officially in for the long haul. I'll now have a primary and a spare, with the spare the kind I can buy refills at the gas station. Winning.

I think being able to use this thing in my office keeps me from having to pound coffee to stay awake.Because of the "less coffee" angle, I'm a lot less jittery.
This gets me really excited for when my Volt shows up
Got my Volt yesterday, charged it up, and started using it on the drive home. I had one cigarette left that I blew through and then started the Volt. The hit isn't as strong and instantaneous, and I have to work harder to take a puff. I assume I have to order a cart with a higher dose of nicotine, maybe? Also, how long can I expect the charge to last?Even with less of a hit I haven't had a regular cigarette since I took my first puff off the Volt, and I was around smokers last night and this morning.I already feel better and it's only been about 18 hours without a smoke. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point

My crappy little FIN has a charge that lasts for a full workday. I charge it while I'm sleeping and then again when I get home. Might last longer than that, but I haven't let it run out yet. Though I don't use it constantly. You do seem to have to work harder to take a puff, but try taking longer puffs and holding them in a bit. Makes a huge difference.

The volts lasted me about 3 hours before the battery just became too weak. I agree with Ford. You just need to take slow long drags to get a good puff of vapor 4-5 seconds long.

Agree with this. It could well be that you don't have strong enough carts, but it is also true that the inhale for a ecig should be slower and methodical vs. a cigarette. I draw slow for usually 3-4 seconds with my ecig. The faster you try to draw vapor, the weaker. You need to allow the battery to heat the e-liquid and that is different from causing lit tobacco leaf to combust.

Thanks, guys - that makes sense and would explain why a few drags that I took seemed to be much stronger than others, since those were longer drags.
