Electronic Cigarettes (3 Viewers)

Also, after a couple of days with my XL Manual, I gotta say...and I know Im in the minority here...but I dont like it as much as my Auto batteries. The Manual isnt as consistent or reliable as my autos. Sometimes Ill be trying to take a MONSTER hit and it will cut off before Im done. I cant stand that. With my autos, I can draw for 10 seconds if I want and get a lung-busting hit that will give any hit Ive taken with my manual a run for its money. Seriously. Also, I guess Im not really a fan of having to push a button - it limits the way I can hold it when taking a hit. On top of that, when taking a hit, it feels way too airy, I like a little more resistance on the draw. Maybe I just got lucky and got some autos that for some reason are better than normal, or maybe my Manual is just not one of the best of its batch, but my autos are just plain better. I really wanted to like the manual more than the autos, I really did, but it just didnt happen, and now its sitting in a drawer as a backup. Its nice knowing its there if something happens to one of my other batteries though
I'm surprised by this and wondering if you got a bad manual. Or, maybe I had the opposite experience and got 2 bad autos and a really good manual. Seems like a night/day difference to me. One of my autos (that I mentioned before) gave out after 2 weeks and the 2nd one doesn't seem to ever charge up to the new battery level. The moment I hit the button on Mr. XL Manual, snap crackle pop every time, fully charged or not.

Rovers, since cigarettes were such a huge part of your life, I was wondering what the response of your friends and family has been since you've started vaping.
They are surprised. I was the ONE person they knew could never quit smoking. Some of them suspected I was still stealth smoking once in a while. The two smokers in the family really don't want to hear it. Hey, you have to want to quit, or even these won't help. I was smoking in my own house, so since I wasn't going outside to smoke, that hasn't been a big change. Now I think it's time to paint the house and get the tar off the walls. Dr J, I don't think your nicotine delivery estimation is right. I think M'boro lights deliver about the same levels as about a 20mg carto. I had to vape like crazy to get a nicotine buzz in the morning from 24's. My morning cig used to give that same level of nicotine buzz. That's really the only way I can judge it, to make that comparison. I think most of the nicotine comes right back out when you vape. I tried the cola. It tastes like cola, the cheap store bought stuff. Not a fan. Tastes like cheap food supermarket brand cheap cola.
Yeah, reading more I think that 1-2 mg is what is left after the combustion destroys most of it. It has like 10-20mg before then. Interesting. Theoretically I could probably extract what you guys are getting from one of these carts from a cigarette or two with the volcano.

So, EG, how would you rate the Bloog vs the V4L manual XL?
They both have strengths and weaknesses.V4L Manual XL :Strengths : Holds a charge forever, at least thus far. I'm getting a full day's use out of it (based on my usage), which is fantastic. Has a 10-second cutoff rather than the 5 second on the Bloogs, which is good for juice with less vapor production/throat hit.Weaknesses : Draw is "airier" than the Bloog. Doesn't feel like quite as high quality a build.. the materials used feel "cheaper." More inconsistent in terms of draw - some hits are massive, others are weak. Seems like it's better suited for indoor use - I struggled a bit to get good hits out of it while standing outside in a strong breeze on Saturday.Bloog Auto :Strengths : Looks and feels like a superior product. Extremely consistent hits. Draw is "tighter" and provides really good TH and vapor productionWeaknesses : Has to be recharged every 6-8 hours (based on my usage). 5 second cutoff is great with strong juices, but doesn't always give you a fully satisfying TH with VG juices. All in all, I like having them both and wouldn't say either is markedly superior to the other. I'd get both and see which you prefer. The V4L manual is a bit cheaper, so I'd give them the nod in terms of value, while I have a hard time believing the Bloog won't last longer. It just feels like a better product. On the cartos, though, I'd rank the MaxxFusion cartos several grades above the V4L WOW cartos, but I don't have any premium cartos to compare them to, and from what I understand, those are more similar to the MaxxFusion cartos (a bit longer, and a lower resistance.)
Interesting, thanks for the comparison. I doubt I will buy any more of either of them after using a Buzz from Notcigs. It's far bigger and heavier, but holds a charge for a day and a half. It's build like a brick chithouse. I can't imagine a more sturdy design even being possible. The performance is far better than the smaller 808 batteries could ever be. Nature of the beast. Variable voltage from 2 to 6 volts can't be beat. When I buy another PV, it will be Notcigs' VV Infinity. Then it would be another Buzz. I still use my 808's, but I've already been spoiled by the Buzz. Of course I was a very heavy smoker, so I don't know if VV PV's are something most people would need. It's what works best for me though. I think I would have been in trouble without the Buzz at a huge party I attended a week ago. A band, singing, drinking, food, and the Buzz was what got me through without having an analog. The smokers were huddling in the freezing cold on the side walk outside of the pub, and I was toasty warm inside with my PV.
I think after a mod that just about anything is going to seem wimpy by comparison.Another thing I've noticed is that the XL Manual tapers off faster (relative to its superior battery life) than the Bloog auto. The Bloog auto starts off hitting hard, then drops to about 80-90% of its max power for the full charge (until the very end.) The XL starts off strong, drops to 80-90 power, then to 70%, then to 60%, etc. It winds down slower, rather than cranking and then dropping off. That's probably why it lasts so much longer. So, it's more a matter of : if you're going to be out 8-12 hours, would you rather carry the one XL battery and deal with diminishing results, or carry two Bloog auto batteries, rotate them, get better beginning to end production, but then have to charge 2 batteries when you get home. Personal preference.

So my order from V4L of two of the manual XL batteries just came in(discontinued colors) and I got a very nice suprise. I ordered 2 manuals at $12.50 less the 15% discount. They sent 4 batteries and a 5 ml bottle of Cognac juice and a 5 ml bottle of S'mores juice. Total bill with shipping was only $28.20. The note on the invoice said:

Please enjoy the bonuses or discounts with our compliments! Thank you from the V4L Team.

These guys are good!!

And I guess it's time for me to learn how to re-fill carts.
Nice! Im really curious about the S'mores juice, I didnt even know they had that flavor. Ive also wondered about their alcohol flavors.
Ok, tried the S'mores, and I like it better than anything I've had. It doesn't taste anything like S'mores to me, and I refilled a Red cart, so it may have some residue. It's sweet(Amaretto-like) and has great vapor but little throat hit, which I like. The juice bottle said medium, so thats probably the 16-18 mg nicotine. The sweetness may get old, but I'm loving it right now.

Any of you who are a member over at ECF, you should check out the classified section if you want to try some different juices or supplies, etc on the cheap...I just bought a nice little bunch for some variety. A couple are pretty low nic for me (12mg), but I wanted to try some new flavors and got the following (34ml of juice) for $14 including shipping:

10ml Backwoods Brew Applewood 18mg

5ml Mister E Liquid French Toast 18mg

5ml Tasty Vapor German Chocolate Cake 18mg

5ml Tasty Vapor Chocolate Covered Cherry 12mg

3ml unknown Brawny Blueberry 24mg

3ml Unsmoke Banana Split 18mg

3ml Missy's Key Lime Pie 12mg

Not too shabby! I got all but the Applewood from one seller for $8 shipped, the Applewood was $6 shipped (really been wanting to try that one)

Lots of mods and components over there too for sale

Well I fixed the cutting out by pressing the button a little harder (doh!), and I gotta screw the carto on really tight to lessen the airiness, so its hitting much better now. I still prefer the autos overall though, but Im keeping teh manual in the rotation now :)Im a big fan of the gun metal finish, it looks and feels pretty tough. :bs:

Someone linked a youtube video showing how to fill V4L cartos using the drip method. My question is how long after filling a carto using this method can you actually use the carto with no fear of getting juice in your mouth when you vape it?

I also got the gun metal finish :lmao: .....yeah, I'm a bad ###!

Here are reviews from the last 2 orders i got.

USB Pass Thru - The perfect desk accessory. I work from home most of the time and this is just awesome. I forgot to grab it last night to try in the truck because i was toying with the XL Manual :lmao: I got an XL manual and an auto. I like them both. I think the manual is better for the ultra low MG/VH carts. Hit the switch, let it crackle a second and then hit it.

Low MG Cognac - Freebie 5ML. I've been curious about the alcohol flavors and if this is representative of the rest it is worth trying more. Even in low MG the Cognac has a good strong VH and good TH. The TH is as hard as the 18MG cart samples i was sent. Taste is great, i taste it on the tip of my tongue during the hit and then it fills the back of the mouth with flavor during exhale. Very nice!!!

Pomengranate 18MG - I mentioned earlier how good the taste is. Fruity but not sticky sweet. Medium VH and a good TH. The TH hit me hard on the first hit which i'm assuming is because of the 18MG compared to the 4/6 i've been using. It mellows after a few hits. I'd like more VH out of it but it definitely score in taste!

Kiwi/Apple/Strawberry 18MG - Another free sample. Almost no VH and the TH kicked me hard. I tried it a couple times but unlike the pomengranate, the flavor wasn't good enough for me to want to keep trying it. I'm not even sure what Kiwi, Apple and Strawberry are supposed to taste like together but if this is right i'll pass.

From the 4MG Coffee sampler (Cool Cart)

Mocha Frap - Good VH and a mild TH. Great taste of mocha and a milkshake creaminess feeling in the back of the mouth. Definitely a winner in my eyes.

Vanilla Mocha Frap - Nice VH with super mild TH. I may be not noticing the TH as much since i've been hitting that 18MG Pomengranate. Taste is great! Just a hint of vanilla in an already good flavor!

Mocha - See above - Take away the vanilla and the milkshake and here you have it. Still good and would have been my second choice to Coffee if i hadn't tried the Fraps!

The other 2 were duplicates to the previous sampler just in cool cart form.

I need to order some more alcohol flavors and give them a try.

I had an unusual experience around a group of friends this past weekend. Still had a great time as usual, but from a smoking perspective I felt like a pariah around smokers and nonsmokers alike. The first night I stayed inside when others went outside for a smoke during a poker break and one of the nonsmokers was giving me the "ok, but there's still nicotine in it, you're still addicted to nicotine, and that's bad for you, right?" routine. By the middle of the weekend I was going outside to vape with the smokers. Still the same stories, laughs, BSing, but no one showed much interest, curiosity, or asked to try it. No one asked if I missed smoking, was tempted being around smoking, etc. Seemed like from pretty much everyone's perspective I was still smoking - which I found strange. Oh well, I quit smoking cigs for me and I'm still 110% happy with my choice, more confident than ever. I've lowered my expectations for completely fitting in with this thing though.

Strange. I've gotten nothing but encouragement. Perhaps that will change over time once they see you're serious about this commitment?

Well, could be these guys don't think I need encouragement. Most of them who use chew/cigs do it only on outings like this, poker night, golf, etc. I did the same for a couple years before it became a daily struggle over the last 18 months.

This reaction isn't unusual. The non smokers want to claim you are still smoking (we've seen that even in this threrad) and the smokers don't want to hear it. In both cases, people are ignorant about E Cigs. Yes, we are still on nicotine. If we were on the patch, the non smokers would say "Great, you quit smoking!" They see something that looks like smoke and the reaction instead is "you are still on nicotine." The smokers don't want to stop smoking, (or are sure they can't) and think it's a gimmick. That was where I came from. They are in denial, and don't even want to listen about benefits of vaping.

The skeptics will be skeptical. How's that for today's philosophical nugget? I don't need any encouragement or validation. I know how my life has gotten better, and it isn't even 3 weeks yet. I am saving $, I don't stink, my truck doesn't stink, I'm not burning my clothes, I don't hack away in the morning, I'm not congested, my breath doesn't reek, there aren't ashes flyin around and the ashtrays are gone. The list is long, I've barely started. People see the vapor, and are unimpressed. Ignorance. Anti-smoking bias. I hated it when someone quit, because I couldn't do it. I didn't want to hear about it either. It was like shoving my nose in my own failings, my inability to quit.

I do have some strong supporters in my circle however, and despite my stated attitude here, it is nice when people recognize the positive changes and give some credit where credit is due. We are all humans, and encouragement and recognition are things we all need, regardless of the endevour.

I just ordered another mod, the VV Infinity from Notcigs. At some point, I will also get another Buzz, and give my 808 batteries away in hopes of finding a convert, my nephew's wife being at the top of the list with a 5 month old, their first. My PT's will stay with ME however! I also ordered more flavors from V4L. After that, I will settle into using the mega 808 blanks from Ikenvape (they are just now back in stock) and just buy 30ml juices of perhaps 5 or 6 flavors.

I plan to stay with 24 to 36 mg stuff for two months. That means another 6 weeks or so. Then I will start trying to reduce my nicotine levels. I have some 18mg juice I can use to cut my 36mg stuff when I need to. All plans subject to change. I'm off of tar, carbon monoxide, cyanide and all the other toxins they put in tobacco, and for now, that is good enough. In fact, it's freakin great. :pats self on back:

I'm getting a bunch of laughs from people as they wonder why I'm walking around with fruit and stuff at the office, and I explain that I'm trying to eat healthier. Many people's natural reaction seems to be to get all defensive about other people trying to improve themselves. At the same time, I've already had 3-4 people I know that are quitting smoking or moving to e-cigs since I told them I've quit smoking as well. So some people do view this stuff as a source of inspiration for themselves. Just depends on their personality I guess.

Yeah, your entire post pretty much nailed it. There's definitely human angles to perception of this product. It's a very in your face display of nic addiction that nonsmokers are not used to, and I honestly think they'd prefer nic addicts be rounded up and stuck in a corner somewhere - even if there is no health basis for it. OTOH it probablay is gimmicky to smokers, and maybe makes them feel a little lonelier about their own habit when someone breaks from the pack. Bottom line, I'm not really expecting to get a lot of support or encouragement from society on this. Not that I need it, this ecig has been as pain-free and effortless a transition from smoking as I could have hoped for. Reading this thread and seeing others improve their health and lives has become a pretty neat support circle for me.

I'm really enjoying my new Backwoods Brew flavors: Peach, Cafe Mocha and Casablanca. I think I'm really going to like these. They will certainly hold me over until I get more Boba's Bounty from AV. That is clearly my favorite. I'm getting two 18ml bottles of bounty and a sampler pack of Root beer, Flue Cured, Chai, C&D.

Very good point. I think we as a group have helped each other quite a bit. I do check in often, and know that the support here has been very helpful to me personally. I also hang at the E-cig forum too, and that group, while not as "exclusive" as our little FBG huddle is also supportive and helpful. We all made the switch about the same time, so we were all rookies with a lot to learn. All of us had a lot in common, were on the same time line and learned how to quit smoking together. I think because of that we sort of bonded. Sounds so ####. LOL. :goodposting:

I'm really enjoying my new Backwoods Brew flavors: Peach, Cafe Mocha and Casablanca. I think I'm really going to like these. They will certainly hold me over until I get more Boba's Bounty from AV. That is clearly my favorite. I'm getting two 18ml bottles of bounty and a sampler pack of Root beer, Flue Cured, Chai, C&D.
That Casablanca is my favorite out of all the juices I've tried so far. Mine has a "born on" date of 2/11/11, and I'm trying my hardest to see how it tastes after one month.

It tastes like an angel took a dump in your mouth (Turkish tobacco and cocoa).

I've ordered a few new flavors with the V4L sale this weekend... went for the Snicker's flavor, the Cola flavor, Caramel frapaccino... will report back. I almost went for some of the alcohol flavors but decided against it. Anyone try those yet? The thought of beer flavored carts just makes me laugh.

On nic level, I've found myself leveling off with the 18 mgs more than I thought I would. I went to 24 mgs a bit out of the gates feeling like I needed the extra oomph, but as I get more accustomed to vaping, and found some flavors with good TH, I've found it not to be needed. In fact, it's only when I've hit 24s in the morning that 18s lose their punch. Probably no surprise there. I stopped that, and now only have 24s late, with no letdown in the AM at all. I can see how a person can probably adapt pretty quickly stepping down to lower levels.

They sent me a freebie of WoW Beer. Not much flavor to it.

Haven't read the whole thread, so sorry if these were answered.

I quit smoking in college, but have picked it up again in the last 6 months or so (I'm really mad at myself). Went from 2-3 a day, now back to a pack a day.

Anyway, seriously considering the e-cig route. My wife is encouraging it. A couple questions...

1. Are they less, more, or the same $ per day on average? I know there are variables, but to get what you are used to from normal smokes.

2. Do they really help you quit, or just replace the regular cigs?

3. Has anyone weened themselves off the e-cig? Is it easier to quit that then the regular cig?

Any help would be appreciated.

I went from 2 1/2-3 packs a day to zero overnight using E cigs. The start up cost can be large, figure at least 100 bucks, but I have figured once I have my hardware (batteries, etc) it will only cost me about $2.50 a day. You could probably do it for less than $2 a day. Most of us have only recently stopped smoking and gone to E Cigs. Keep in mind that these are much safer than tobacco. No tar, no carbon monoxide, no cyanide or any of the other 3945 toxins in cigarettes. I expect to be on these things for at least 6 months. I will lower the nicotine dosage as I go along, having only stopped smoking a mere 19 days ago. One step at a time. I look at them like using a patch or Nicorette gum, but better, in terms of quiting cigarettes, easier. Much easier. Since nicotine is only ONE of the addictive toxins that are found in cigarettes, there is still some withdrawal. Then... no smell, no tar in your lungs, no risk of emphazema or lung cancer (as far as anyone can tell, and it's pretty obvious that it is true) no second hand smoke, but if you want all of the benefits.... you will have to do a lot of reading! It's a long long thread, but worth it. Whatever questions you have will almost certainly be answered. A month ago, we were where you are right now. I think there might be 20 of us that switched, and no one has gone back to smoking. If you want to quit, this is the easiest way you will ever find.

1. Less. Way less. I went from a pack a day to a little more than a cart a day. The former is ~$7; the latter ~$2...and that will drop significantly (to $1 a day maybe?) once I start refilling with juice. I spent quite a bit on initial orders, "testing the waters" rather than buying the complete starter kit. I'm up to ~$200, but with a 90 day supply of nicotine. I have all the equipment now, I think I'll be breaking even around day 28.2. They help you quit cigarettes. Honestly I don't think we know about getting off nicotine yet. I have been doing this a week, and the first few days I had strong, but manageable withdrawal symptoms. To me that says I've cut my nicotine dosage. Theoretically I should be able to step down my nicotine going forward, eventually quitting, but IMO we can't say for sure if this will work.3. I'd love to hear about this as well. Ecigs are great. The flavors are fun to try, I can vape in my house, and they eliminate so many of the negatives about smoking. But some level of nicotine addiction remains. I fear I may be setting myself up for different patterns of addiction.Good luck with whatever you do. With my comments above, I'm trying to be honest and offer both sides. For me, I've been at this a week, and really don't think I'll ever look back. I don't reek constantly, my throat isn't a mess in the morning, and I'm not blowing hundreds of dollars a month on an embarrassing habit. IMO its absolutely worth it. There is a lot of information in this thread, but its worth reading. And if you have any questions I'm sure lots of people will be willing to answer.

Good luck. :goodposting: Your current situation is where I was at 4 weeks ago & it worked great for me to stop smoking. 1. Short term, you'll spend more to get the equipment and flavor cartridges (cartomizers), longer term much, much cheaper. Your equipment is mostly behind you, you can buy more bulk juices of flavors you like, refill cartomizers, etc. My recommendation for a newcomer is in post 498. It's around $100 (with a frequent V4L sale) to get everything you need for the first 3 weeks, having all the right equipment for a positive introduction.2. Probably replace real cigarettes. While they are unquestionably safer without tar and carcinogens, they contain nicotine. They are far more convenient and enjoyable than smoking, which creates unique addiction risks. You can buy cartomizers in varying nic strength, or even without nic. Many here have long term goal of stepping down nic level and eliminating, but there are primarily new users posting, giving product and flavor suggestions.3. I'm interested in this too if anyone has experience. Most posters in this thread are in their first couple months of ecigging.

I'm really liking the cognac sample they sent!!

I posted this back in Jan.
I quit 'again' 3 months ago. Just went cold turkey for the first week and then stumbled on the e-cigs (wife was happy for something that took the edge off). Tapered down from med which i think was 11mg then light 6mg then 0. The hand to mouth habit is all i really feel now when having cocktails so the vapor only works great. I keep toothpicks with me for when i'm in a place i wouldn't smoke and get the hand thing.
When i found ecigs i bought a Smoke Stick which didn't have flavors and i didn't know about refilling. When i ordered a Bloog i started using it in the morning with a 4MG flavor and then back to 0mg on the Smoke Stick the rest of the day. I still use the Stick sometimes in the afternoon (their tobacco flavor is good) but end up trying flavors and new batteries in the evening. Now i am vaping mostly 4mg and 6mg flavors. I just ordered and received 8MG coffee flavored. The 4mg coffee tastes just as good to me as the 8mg which is what i wanted to find out. I'll order a 0mg flavor next time and if the flavor is there i'll get back to zero permanently. I'll probably try 0mg VG as it is supposed to produce more vapor.I really believe i would have just stayed at 0 if not for finding out about the different flavors and devices. I don't feel i am addicted to nicotine anymore. It doesn't matter if i'm using a 4,6 or 0 i don't seem to hit more. I like vaping. I like some of the flavors and have noticed i'm not rummaging through the pantry or fridge at night looking for a snack if i'm vaping on a Mocha Frap or whatever.Maybe i should have just started with 0 in my starter but as far as i'm concerned, i've quit smoking. I don't have to worry about how i smell going into see somebody or sneaking away to grab a smoke. I'm not filling my lungs with tar or cyanide and whatever else i used to inhale. If i end up 'addicted' to vaping 4mg flavored cartidges i'm fine with it.

I love the Flue Cured as a cig substitute. Tastes just like drawing through an unlit cigarette. Boba is my favorite by far, but it lacks a touch in TH for me, so I mix about 80% Boba with 20% of a PG tobacco flavor (Vapor Station Tampa works very well) to create a Boba with an extra blast.

I'm 32 days in and there's no looking back for me. I still have my last pack of "in case of emergency" analogs in the kitchen cabinet. The thought of opening them hasn’t even entered my mind. No need whatsoever. In fact, I think its way past time to finally throw them away.1. Once you have your starter kit, day-to-day vaping is WAY cheaper than analogs. You'll save even more if you refill your cartos a couple times before discarding them.2. Several posters in this thread, as well as myself, have and will continue to testify that these things are not a gimmick. I haven't had the urge to light up a real smoke once.3. My plan is to eventually wean myself off nico, but I haven't decided whether I will attempt to put down the e-cig for good. I like vaping that much. If I still have these things in my mouth with 0mg cartos, then I've still accomplished what I set out to do.I was a little over a pack-a-day Marlboro Lights smoker for 20+ years and my initial starter kit order was with 24mg & 32mg cartos. Found them to be way too harsh. Next order I stepped down to 18's and 11's. I'll hang there for the next couple months until my juice is gone and I'll step down again with my next order.I don't know about you guys, but all my other attempts to quit, whenever I encountered a smoker I always loved the smell. Couldn't get enough and found myself taking deep breaths trying to get even the slightest 2nd hand hit. Since using the e-cig, I now find the smell of an analog completely repulsive. I can smell it on other smokers even when they are not smoking and it is just plain dirty!

Rovers, I'm looking into a mod for my birthday and the Buzz is right at the top of the list (although the Infinity also looks interesting, despite being 10 days backordered.) Quick question for you :

Which atomizer coupling did you opt for : 510, 801, or 901? And what atomizers are you using it with? I'm assuming I'm going to be using it to vape at a significantly higher voltage than the 3.7 that the MaxxFusion provides to maximize flavor, vapor production, and throat hit (otherwise the only point is longer battery life, which isn't much of an issue for me, as I have 5 batteries and a passthrough.) So, am I right that a low-resistance atomizer would get melted by the increased voltage?

Someone linked a youtube video showing how to fill V4L cartos using the drip method. My question is how long after filling a carto using this method can you actually use the carto with no fear of getting juice in your mouth when you vape it?
I am using this and I've been waiting an hour or more, just because I wasn't in a hurry. I'm not sure how quick you can vape afterwords, but I would think after you spin it that 15 minutes or so would be fine. That is unless you overfill it.

I just got my new batch of carts from V4L and first up is Chocolate Banana (18mg Cool Carts). I like this one a lot so far, as it has a nice, well, chocolate banana flavor. The throat hit isn't huge--I'd put it at a 6--but it is enough for me. The vapor production is a little better, so I'll rate that a 7. When I twisted on the cart and took my first few puffs, my dog came over to me, sniffed my mouth and e-cig, and then proceeded to bark right in my face. This was the first cart that made her act this way, so she was likely jealous of my blasting away. So far, I'm really digging this one. My dog and I endorse this flavor; Kirk Cameron hasn't been consulted.

Out of curiosity which have you tried that were stronger for you? I've got my best TH using Choco Banana... I'd love to try others that deliver superior TH.

I posted a few weeks ago that I purchased (2) VPL XL Starter Kits for my brother and I. We live in different states, so I mailed his to him when I received them both. I've been a smoker for 23 yrs and have been telling myself I'd quit on my birthday over the last few yrs, but never do. 6 yrs ago, I quit for about 8 mos, but started again after some shots at a fantasy draft and hanging out with my father-in-law for a night to "get his permission" to marry his daughter.

When I first received the kit, I wanted to experiment with it for a few weeks before really committing to quitting, get used to the TH, etc. I had 1 cig left the night of 2/20 and decided to just try to make it through the night with the e-cig......done. I almost stopped in the morning to get a pack of cigs with my coffee, but kept driving and haven't looked back. It's now been 9 days cig-smoke free! I thought I'd have to get myself amped up and mentally ready to quit (even tho I've known for awhile that I SHOULD quit) but it's been a lot easier than I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong....my first Sat morning wake n bake did cause some strong cravings, but I just plugged the Caramel Mocha Frappe 24mg into my USB and vaped away!

My brother has also been successful with the exception of 1/2 a cig at a bar last weekend which he said he didn't enjoy nearly as much as he thought he would.

Thanks to everyone in this thread for helping me quit. I would have never tried the e-cigs without this thread, and thought they were gimicky and bad for you with "unapproved chemicals". I've had 2 prescriptions written for Chantix over the last few years, but never got them filled, nervous about the side effects. The first-hand experiences and awesome amount of info here, were very helpful and encouraged me to give it a shot.

A couple quick reviews...

Caramel Mocha Frappe - My favorite. I started with a 5-pack of 24mg but just ordered my first 30ml refill bottle of 18mg. Tasty and goes well with my morning coffee!

Vanilla Mocha Frappe - Same overall taste as above with a little more vanilla flavor. I like it.

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - Pretty tasty at first. I think the comparison to a vanilla milkshake is pretty accurate. I find this one nice to draw on every now and then, but it'd be tough to vape on this one all day.

Irish Cream (freebie) - Not a fan. It smells like fermenting beer to me, and once I smelled it, that's all I could taste. Also tried the condom refill method and wonder if it's also due to oil that gets on the outside of the cart when refilling it?

Caramel - Smooth, with a little sweetness. Good base flavor, IMO. Not too flavored so can't imagine getting sick of it.

Tobacco Flavors - I smoked Winston Lights, so ordered a few tobacco sampler packs with my initial order. I tried 2 and haven't touched the others. As many people have stated on here, they thought they'd want to copy their cig flavor but ended up realizing they can get the same result from something a little tastier.

Choco Caramel Peanut - It does taste kind of like a Snickers, but the peanut taste is too strong for me. I realized that it's a pretty good flavor, just not one I care to vape, if that makes sense.

Classic Caramel Apple - Took a chance and just ordered a 30ml bottle. I love caramel apples, and like the caramel cart flavor, so hoping this will be a winner. Should receive shortly.

I got an 808 on the Buzz. It didn't work with the cool cartos, but was OK with the WOW carts. There is inconsistancy in these cartos, and the skirt size on the cool carts became longer somehow. I had to buy a 901 to 808 adapter to use the cool carts. I am expecting to get the Ikenvape mega 808 cartos tomorrow, and hopefully can get rid of the adapter. The adapter is very small and doesn't bother me though. Don't tell Buzzkill I said this, but I would wait another month on the Infinity, even though I just ordered one. He is still making some design improvements on it based on field testing. For instance, the supplier didn't make the markings close enough to the thubmwheel for varying the voltage. The next batch will be corrected. I think he is making some changes for the LED to improve the backlighting. You will like the Buzz, I garuantee that. You don't want to use 2 ohm cartos though, they could get fried. There is no need for them anyway, you can take it up to 6 volts. 3.5 to 2.5 ohms is the best range for the Buzz. The WOW cartos get a little how on it. It's OK, just a little hot.Eventually, I will use 2 Buzz PV's and an Infinity, and will likely give away my 808 batteries to people I want to see quit in the family. I'll keep my V4L PT's. The Buzz is just so solidly built... and while it is bigger, I find it easier to use vs. the small 808 batts. The button is easier to find, it fits in my hand better. Batteries last a day and a half. It's a work horse PV. The voltage never changes, it's regulated, so no fall off in performance at all till the batteries are completely drained. Like I said, I did go ahead and order an Infitity. Probably won't get it until next week sometime. I could give you some feedback on it then.

I'm guessing the 808 is the way to go, seeing as I already have 5 WOW cartos and about 40 Bloog cartos (2.5 ohm on the Bloogs, is what I've read.) Would you recommend going the carto route rather than using an atomizer and a tank filler or something along those lines? When I first researched this, the ease of operation on the cartomizers is what led me to the 808 to begin with. Dripping seemed like way too much of a PITA and the atomizers seemed like they needed to be cleaned too often and replaced almost as frequently as the cartos (despite being 3-4x as expensive.)Does Ikenvape make cartos that can be used at higher voltages? I'm looking to get more vapor and TH than I'm getting from the 808, not necessarily just longer battery life.

Oh, and I will probably wait and see what's what with the Infinity if it's not too long before you get it. I'm intrigued by being able to change voltage w/o the screwdriver, plus it's less expensive to boot.

Any of you guys come up with a good way to label the carts you've filled?

I used a sharpie to make marks on the 2 white blanks i've filled so far (one mark = coffee, 2 marks = cognac) but there has got to be a better way especially you guys with a bunch of flavors you are filling?

What about the black Bloog carts? Anybody labeling or marking them?

The Bloog Reds at 18mg have had the fullest TH out of the few I've tried (they should probably call those Peanut Butter Reds). I also liked the throat hit from the V4L Green Tea cool cart 18mgs, but the vapor was not quite as good. After a few more hours on the Choco Banana, I should probably change the TH to 6.5-7. Everything else, so far, has been slightly under those, but still satisfying. I have been very underwhelmed by the V4L WOW carts. BTW, "everything else" is the coffee sampler pack from V4L, with some freebie WOW carts. I haven't been switching around, preferring to finish out a flavor before moving on. Now that I have my first large shipment, thanks to the sale last week, I'll be changing flavors more often.

:banned:When I first received the kit, I wanted to experiment with it for a few weeks before really committing to quitting, get used to the TH, etc. I had 1 cig left the night of 2/20 and decided to just try to make it through the night with the e-cig......done. I almost stopped in the morning to get a pack of cigs with my coffee, but kept driving and haven't looked back. It's now been 9 days cig-smoke free!
Congrats!

Oh, and I will probably wait and see what's what with the Infinity if it's not too long before you get it. I'm intrigued by being able to change voltage w/o the screwdriver, plus it's less expensive to boot.
I've been researching mods for a long time now, knowing that I need something that packs a little more punch than any of my devices. First I was looking into the ones like the Buzz, Infinity, Omega, Silver Bullet, etc. Then I started dripping and realized that this was probably the better vaping experience. That conclusion brought me to researching the box mods like the Reo, Phidias, and Ali'i, thinking that I'd much rather have a 5-6ml juice bottle inside my device and not have to drip anymore. Then I discovered this sucker here, which is slated to come out later this month. It's gonna run at around $250, but damn, this thing sure looks nice! It'll be the first mod I purchase as long as the warranty is decent.

I just got my new batch of carts from V4L and first up is Chocolate Banana (18mg Cool Carts). I like this one a lot so far, as it has a nice, well, chocolate banana flavor. The throat hit isn't huge--I'd put it at a 6--but it is enough for me.
Out of curiosity which have you tried that were stronger for you? I've got my best TH using Choco Banana... I'd love to try others that deliver superior TH.

Dang, I keep saying Reds is on my shopping list and then V4L keeps having outstanding sales that sidetrack me. I have not been much a fan of tobacco flavors so far, but if it is more PB then I probably will like it. I'm just going to do it... hearing too many good things. On coffees, I agree the TH is lacking a bit. I love the 24s in coffees but hate that I need to step up to get the same TH I get with other 18s. I do like the taste of the coffees, in particular plain "Coffee" which I tried for the first time last weekend.

Someone at V4L is very smart. Those sales have definitely been cart-blocking other sites. I'm with you on the coffee flavors, they really are very nice. The frappacino flavors had the best throat hit out of the pack, but none were really strong. The Coffee cart almost felt a little watered down. Next up is Blueberry Cobbler.

Rovers, I'm looking into a mod for my birthday and the Buzz is right at the top of the list (although the Infinity also looks interesting, despite being 10 days backordered.) Quick question for you :Which atomizer coupling did you opt for : 510, 801, or 901? And what atomizers are you using it with? I'm assuming I'm going to be using it to vape at a significantly higher voltage than the 3.7 that the MaxxFusion provides to maximize flavor, vapor production, and throat hit (otherwise the only point is longer battery life, which isn't much of an issue for me, as I have 5 batteries and a passthrough.) So, am I right that a low-resistance atomizer would get melted by the increased voltage?
The 2.5 ohm cartos can be used on the Buzz no problem, but that is border line for the Infinity. The standard IkenVape mega 808 cartos are supposed to work relly well with the Buzz. They run 2.8 to 3 ohms I beleive. The Buzz delivers much more TH and vapor, and flavor than the PT's do, forget the 808's, they aren't in the same league. The higher voltage TOTALLY negates ANY need for a LR atty. You just don't need it, and they will run too hot at 4.5 or 5.5 volts. Good mods have a built in amperage cutoff. The LR atty's draw more current. Most of that is wasted power at 4.5 volts. LR's also make batteries discharge faster and they will shorten battery life. IkenVape will soon introduce 2 ohm mega 808's, and they might work really well with KR808 batteries like the V4L's, but aren't for use in mods. The megas I am expecting are 2.8-3 ohms. The mods will deliver much more TH, flavor and vapor with regular resistance cartos. The Buzz blows all my other PV's away. I still haven't messed with the voltage, but as soon as I get the mega 808's I will adjust it. Most people say they don't have to mess with it much. There is no way I am going to start dripping. To me, that smacks of creating another obsession. Mega 808's hold 60 to 70 drops of juice. That's fine by me. Most Buzz users swear by them.

Update: my Tasty Vapor Waffle has opened up a bit over the last 4 days, but im still not getting much syrup flavor. I AM detecting a little butter now though..I took a hit at work and a guy I work with said the vapor smelled like syrup (he didnt know I had Waffle juice). Strange that it smelled like that to him, yet I cant taste it. lol

This stuff is good enough though that I'll be ordering more when this bottle is close to empty.

The TH on this stuff is ridiculous. At 24mg it should be though

Do we have a Vapetionary in here? What are mods and LR attys? What is dripping?
