Electronic Cigarettes (4 Viewers)

I think nic is the only thing you'll need to stock up on. Flavor, PG, and VG should be easy to come by. Hell, CVS carries VG, just bought some a few weeks ago.

Maybe PG will be a bit harder, I can't think of anything else its used for in small amounts other than e-liquid.
All the water enhancers (mio) that I've seen use PG. Also used in some fog machine liquids.
I probably have PG right here in my building. Only, it would be in a drum, and that might be a bit tricky to transport/store. Doubt the QC department would enjoy watching me pry the lid off and dunk my 1L bottle in to fill it up either.

Now that's a site.

Got JZilla all nerded up with a Kanger Evod kit. The Dojo had worse customer service than most DMVs, but they did have a couple of nice juices so I picked up a couple.

Just checked - we have 147.402kg on hand. Then I checked further and it looks like we have 747kg allocated to upcoming orders. And only 430kg on order.

That's right, I just found an MRP error because I was thinking about swiping raw materials to make DIY juice. Unless the 200kg we need for the order due 9/9 has intentionally not yet been ordered to save space/eliminate exposure in the event of a cancellation.

Ordered a few more standard flavors. Camels & Marlboro - I smoked Camel Lights originally but switched to Marlboro Ultras for health reasons. I'll see which one grabs me. Menthol & vanilla to try mixing with those, and a peach.

This "Zen" one's been a nice starter for me, kind of a minty melon.

Here are some juice reviews from ECBlend. This place is pretty cheap and the juice is really ####### good overall.

Dragon's Brew (coffee): This is the best coffee flavor I've ever tried. Creamy but not too sweet nor harsh. I only have a 5ml tester so I'll be ordering more of this soon.
Fruit Smoothie: No steep, nice right out of the bottle. Great base to mix with your favorite fruit flavor of any kind.
Dragon's Dream (Orange Cream)-Steeped two weeks: Exceptional, sweet and creamy but not over the top
Peach watermelon cantelope: Fresh and solid, noting special but I think it's slightly above average
Dragon's Tear (Strawberry/Chocolate Cream): It's a little sweet but not over the top, really nice flavor after a two week steep. Ordered 30ml more that came today, very nice evening vape here.
Strawberry ala Zoe: The peach version of this that I got as a sampler was special. This one has good flavor but I'm letting it rest for awhile expecting it to open up some. Nice smooth taste though.
Dragon's Cafe: Not touching it yet, will check back in ten days or so
Dragon's Crown (strawberry/coconut): Vaping it right now after a ten day steep. I like it, very creamy and sweet but something I could vape all day.
Fox Mocha: Very good, I ordered extra sweet and finished it a few days ago. But I like Dragon's brew so much, I might not go back to this for awhile.
Caramel Apple: Got it today and gave it a quick try, nice. You can taste the green apple right off the top and the caramel is a little muted at the moment. Gonna give this one another week but I like this one also.

They are all 50/50 so the throat hit is a 7.5 and the flavor is about an 8 on all of them (maybe a 9 on Dragon's Tear). Overall I think I like this vendor better than the others I've tried (Panama vapor, V4L, myfreedomsmokes, Vape Dojo, Freedomsmokesusa, Charleston vapor). I'll have to try one of their tobaccos next to see how those are, but the Dragon series has a bunch of winners in that group.

Also have the juicenerd famous Halo Tribeca on the way to see what a good RY4 tastes like. As you can see I don't love tobaccos but if I can find room for them, I'd like to use some good ones as all day vapes. Right now I'm going the fruit smoothie route with mixtures of fruit flavors.

Still using eGo batteries but have an itaste MVP on the way. For now I think I'm set with those as my batt/mods and I'm gonna avoid the dildo looking mods. Juice vehicles are the EVOD for morning vape, Kanger Protank for all day vape and eGo-C for the evenings. Also mixing in a Smoktech Artemas at home and getting a custom Phiniac carto tank made as well. 2 protanks (a I and a II), two EVOD bccs, two carto tanks and the ego-Cs are going to do it for awhile. So I have the delivery devices and the juices, I'm on my way.

51 days with no analogs.

Ordered some Juice from Backwoods Brew. Cafe Mocha, Peach and Casablanca.
How is this place? Have read some good things.
I like them a lot. The mocha and peach were good but not really my thing. I liked the Casablanca a lot. It's a turkish tobacco with some cocoa. I'm still vaping in now. They have been my go to for tobacco's.

Thanks Trogg.

I've gone from zero to Vapor Titan (thanks to you guys) to vape :nerd: pretty quick. I know some lingo now, know the equipment and am figuring out the juices (most difficult part of this).

I got some Halo juices and they are interesting. The Tribeca tastes like kettle corn and the Voodoo tastes like Grappa. On their own I don't particularily like either, together they are a fine drinking vape. :banned: The Belgian Chocolate is exceptional though, couple of drop in a coffee juice and you're all set.

The itaste MVP is stellar, big fan. Still not keen on cylinder mods but the ProVari mini would probably be my next mod purchase. Probably not until after I get the itaste MVP 2.0 though, I think that is coming out next month. Very practical device that lasts two days, and the chicks love to see what it's all about!!!!

Got myself a Plano tackle box for my gear/juice:

Top Level

Bottom Level

Easy, peasy, Japanesey. ECBlends and myfreedomsmokes are my go-to juice providers until I find something I like better. Will try backwoods and probably Mt Baker next.

Whats the website for the REO Grand?
reosmods.com
taking the pluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuundge
It's a whole different ballgame. My recommendation to you is to buy 2 AW IMR High Drain 18650 batteries (supertmanufacturing.com is the cheapest I've found, $10.49 EA), a charger that will hold 18650s, a few Cisco 306 atomizers and an acrylic 306 drip tip from avidvaper.com. That's the setup that has given me the best results, although some swear by 510 atomizers. I find the 306s to be better workhorse performers. Buy these ASAP so you'll have them in hand when the Grand arrives. Then, you can just plug and play.
This is my next endeavor. IF you had to buy a ProVari or a Reo, which would you buy and why? The REO subculture is quite amazing, their following is as loyal to their product as any you will find.

I do not like any of the cylinder mods besides the ProVari mini, none of them. I love the itaste MVP and they are coming out with the next iteration of that device (with ohm meter, vv, etc) next month, definitely will get another of these.

I also like the ego vv batteries to be honest. I'm using iclear 16s and the Kanger Protank as my primary juice vessels right now and they work great with both. I did get my Phiniac Detroit Tigers handmade tank today though, that's gonna be my primary home juice vessel. Will post pics later, this thing is soooooooooo badass.

At this point, I wouldn't buy anything that isn't vari-watt. Now that I've owned 2 vari-watt mods (My VAMO rolled off a table and took a 2-3' drop onto a tile floor last Sunday and stopped firing, so I had to buy a Smoktech SID to replace it) - I can't go back to the REO. Now, there are major pluses to the REO. One, it's virtually indestructible and has no chip in it, so it will fire every time, all the time and the situation I described in my parenthetical above would never happen. It's a great mod. The two drawbacks it has for me at this juncture are :

1) I've found that to get maximum performance and flavor from it, you need to run it on Cisco 306 atomizers. These run roughly $9 each. The replacement heads for the tanks (as you know) can be found for $1.25.

2) Without vari-watt, it doesn't have the punch I now require. Once I got used to running the tube mods at 7-7.5W, the REO, even with a new atty on it, seems like a "light" cigarette compared to a Marlboro red. This probably wouldn't be an issue for you, but once you have the ability to dial in the wattage to exactly where you want it, going backwards is tough. I like vari-watt better than vari-volt by a longshot.

If they ever make a vari-watt REO Grand, I'll probably buy one, sell the rest of my mods and that will be it for life. But I think having to put the electronics in it to make it vari-watt would defeat the purpose of it, the fact that it's purely mechanical and impossible to break is its primary selling point.

I can't believe there aren't more n00bs to this thread but then I thought, most of this stuff has no rhyme or reason. We have advanced users and a lot of talk that goes back two+ years.

So I'm gonna lend a hand to anyone thinking of quitting.

Blucigs and the cig-a-likes just don't work IMO. I know a few in here have had success using them but I don't think they work for most. they cost more than cigarettes, they don't supply the hit you need IMO and they are disposable by nature. Starting there and giving the e-cig concept a try is a good thing though, but there is much better experiences beyond that device.

So what does a n00b need?

Well you need a good kit and you need to figure out what juices you need. With all the tobacco flavors out there, it is my understanding none of them have replicated a Marlboro Light. Once you start vaping you might not want tobacco flavors anyway, I know I don't. But having that safety blanket when you quit the analogs is key.

So plan old unflavored nicotine juice is actually the closest thing to a Marlboro light as far as I've read. The tobacco flavor 555, Dunhall and various blends may come close and these are the flavors you should probably have on standby for those tough days. RY4 flavors are the most popular among vapors, but this is a mix of vanilla, caramel and tobacco. I think having an RY4 is essential.

Juices are hard to find and this is the biggest problem in switching over. Finiding a brick and mortar (B&M) is helpful because you can likely try the juices to see what you like. Otherwise try to find a company that supplies 5ml samples and then order a bunch of them looking for your sweet spot. ECBlend, MtBakerVapor, myfreedomsmokes are three places with good reps and 5ml samples.

Now let's talk starter kits. I like the Joyetech eGo kits, they work and work well. Something like this is what got me off the stinkies.

Another kit is an eGo Evod kit, this one is everything you need to get started.

After doing some research this one is a good higher-end kit. It basically has all the bells and whistles needed to include the variable wattage and variable voltage people like once they get the hang of things. For me this one was less than one week of smokes, maybe a little more after you buy some juice.

If you do it right, even without going the do-it-yourself liquid route, this will not cost more than smoking. in fact, it will cost about 1/5 what smoking does if you do it right.

You can PM questions if you like, I'm sure others like Wingnut, EV72 and Trogg among others are also willing to help. If you get the right kit and find a few juices you like quitting is very possible, maybe probable if you are committed.

Weird...I made a batch of juice last week, and it turned blue after about 5 days. Its a clear juice (green apple flavor), sometimes it gets a slightly gold tint to it, but its never done this before (I've probably made 20 or so batches of it).

Any DIYers ever have this happen?

List everything you put in it. My first thought would be contamination.

12% flavor15% nic

The rest was a 60/40 mix of PG/VG.

The only thing different was the VG, I ran out of my usual stuff from MFS and had to use some older stuff I had that I got from CVS, but I've made juice with the CVS VG and never had the color change before.

Any thing old has a good chance of being contaminated. The nic gives it the golden color. It could be in the flavor too. I have no idea.

Thought I'd call on the FBG experience here. I've been using BLOOG cartomizers for a few yrs now and been very happy. Lately i've felt the carts aren't lasting very long so i ordered their juice and a clearomizer. Got it on Monday and so far this week I've been feeling dizzy, foggy headed and nauseous.

I'm using the 16mg juice, my carts were typically 32. Is the juice version higher potency or something? Just very different experience so far, felt sick all week but the TH on the clearomizer is so much better than the carts.

I'm no expert, curious to know if anyone has any insight.

Yeah, sounds like nicotine poisoning. Lower your dosage to 12 or 11mg, whatever you can get and you should be ok. Basically you have to look at frequency of vaping, intake, and method. You are most likely getting much more nicotine through the clearo intake, and you are probably vaping as much or more than before.

Me personally I need 18mg worth of nicotine but because I vape a lot, I use 12mg and spread the intake over the day. So vape less at 16mg or grab a lower dosage at 12mg or so and vape as you always do.

Finally ordered some Boba's Bounty. Will probably let it steep for 2-3 weeks before trying, but I already started the process by leaving the cap off for 48 hours. Also got a shipment in from Heather's Heavenly Vapors, the Strawberry-Lemonade is great right out of the mail.

Some negative news coming from all sides as the FDA meets next month on ecig regulation, and that study just released on teen ecig use. We'll see what happens.

After rocking 0mg juice on my mini Provari for the longest, I took a trip to Australia and Murphy's law ensued. Needless to say I didn't have my Provari with me and I couldn't find e-cigs anywhere in Melbourne. Got back on the sticks, expensive ones they were out in Oz.

Now I'm about to leave the Philippines and head to NYC for a while. I don't think I would have ever quit smoking if cigarettes were always this cheap. Looking forward to getting some basic Ego kit or something when I get back to the states and starting the process over.

For me, I guess I just need to stick to 18mg and not worry about trying to get off of the e-cigs so much.

The lady at my local shop talked me into trying one of those new-fangled wick-style bottom feeding tank thingies. So far its aight, not sure yet if I will switch over form my usual barrel tanks. Ill give it a week before I decide.

http://imageshack.us/a/img849/6027/5w2b.jpg
Looks like the Kanger EVOD. Bottom feeders are way better than top-feeding tanks, imo. Wicks are basically unnecessary/super small. Taste is pure and they hit great.

I like the EVODs a bit better than the protank, but I just ordered another SMOKtech Artemas carto tank and an iClear 16. I think the iclears (both 16 and 30) are the next best thing to carto tanks, and I like certain flavors better in the clears. I like the EVODs for out and about vaping, they are consistent and look good on a twist or straight eGo.

I like tanks and clears on my MVP, and will get the new MVP 2.0 with vw/vv/ohm checker in the next week or so. I think the Protank is gonna be retired soon as my work vessel, I'm gonna go with an iClear 16 or a tank. That Artemas tank is one of the best tanks for the money IMO, they hit like a freight train and never leak.

I think I've bought all I can buy at this point, only $205 in batteries/mods but a lot more in juices and juice vessels along with all the associated equipment. I have plenty of cartos, coil heads, extra tanks, juice and everything else now. Trying to go to a $75 a month budget, $90 so far in September but I really have nothing else to buy. I could vape for three months without spending another dime, but I know I won't (the Arrow Tank post is a good example, now I want one). :(

Gadabout>Philippines have some nice mechanical mods, but I'm sure you already knew this.

The Philippines do have some nifty gear but I was too caught up smoking cheap Marlboros and pounding San Miguels to do anything about it.

I've been just using disposable blu ecigs at work for about a month now, which puts me down to about 5 analogs a day and am ready to buy a kit and fully convert over to the electric model.

Had been thinking about http://www.groupon.com/deals/vapory-shop which comes with:

  • One black Variable Voltage (VV) 900mAh rechargeable eGo-C Twist battery
  • One black CE4 refillable Clearomizer (Tank)
  • One Premium 5ml eJuice (Option of 0mg/6mg nicotine level in Gummy Bear or 6mg/12mg nicotine level in Tobacco flavor)
  • One portable USB charger
  • One wall plug
  • One carrying case
  • User manual
This a good starter kit? Are one of the ones DD suggested better? I'm willing to drop more cash on something that will last longer.

This comes with 5ml of juice, how long does that last? Should I pick up more samples?

People talk about replacing parts, what goes bad first, should I pick up spare parts as well?

ETA: Where do people buy their DIY liquids? Figure that's the end game here.

That kit is fine, the Twist is a great device in general although the Joyetech versions last much longer from what I hear. If you go with that get a backup Twist here and then maybe some iclear 16s from that same place.

The most difficult thing in transitioning is finding the right juices to keep you going. Getting the starter kit at your local will allow you to test some juices, and get a few you like. Try everything you can. The fruit vapes, coffee, menthol, etc. Whatever flavors you normally like, go with those. Sounds crazy but just three months later am I really getting into the tobacco flavors. When I quit I thought anything but was right, and it worked. Strawberry, watermelon, orange cream and coffee flavors are my favorites.

Once you get that stuff you can try juices from the more established and well thought of juice vendors. That eGo C Twist kit looks fine though, that and a Twist backup (or a regular eGo 650mAh variable voltage upgrade will also) should get you through nicely.

I've owned joytech ego twist. I started out out with 2 of them, and they don't hold up.. Both of them broke in the first 2 months.. Now using the smoktech winder, and I'm much happier..

Interesting, I've had a great experience with mine and most reviews of them on various internet forums are extremely positive. Only real complaint is the eventually denigration of the bottom knob on the twists, which can be from three to 18 months. Most expect to get a year out of them though, I've read some still going at 2 years. Most of these batteries are rated for 300 charges so if your buttons hold, they should last awhile.

Winders are good from what I hear also.

Guwain>I forgot to answer your other question. 5ml of juice isn't a whole lot. I go through that in a day sometimes, but usually go through 3-4 ml a day for sure. I've read some people going through 400ml a month, which I find incredible. You'll have to test this for yourself but even a part-time smoker probably will use 1.5 to 2 ml a day.

I'm having problems with the REO. My first atomizer just died. I'm strictly vaping Boba's. A fresh atomozer pulls nicely, but then starts getting stickier and harder to pull. Then it dies. My second one is on the same path right now. They also get a kind of burning taste that I can't avoid. Even after a fresh sparge. I know there is a lot of juice in there. Any tips would be appreciated.
I mostly vape bobas on 2 ohm LR atty. What's ohms are you using? I had a problem with my first atty etting clogged after three days. I cleaned with hot water and it took what seemed like forever to get it going again. It had a bad burnt taste and id have to flood it to get any juice flavor. I finaly just kept dry burning untill it was gone. Since then I make a point to blow out my attys a couple times a day. I blow out all the juice wipe the threads and the catch cup. I put it back on and take a couple hits without inhaling. Then I do a couple dry burns. I haven't had any problems since I started doing this.
Interesting to go back through this thread and find stuff I need. I specifically bought another Artemas tank and 2.5ohm cartos for Boba's and Gorilla Juice. I have read about the notorious thickness of these juices and figured outside of dripping, a carto tank was my best path.

Been steeping for a week, too soon? Really looking forward to seeing what the hype is all about.

Also the Heather's Heavenly Vapes juices I've tried are really good, think they have moved into my list of most favored vendors.

I would normally rock the Alien juices right out of the mailbox. Those two flavors, along with Casablanca from BB, are the only ones that'll make me say, "Damn this is some good stuff" after every puff.

So after a few days of the wife telling me she was ordering the kit previously linked, I realized I had to take matters into my own hands. After google was zero help in finding a B&M store on Long Island I started driving around. I eventually ended up in Smoke Stax in Hicksville and quickly realized that my perusal of this thread was no where near enough to prepare me for my first foray into the world of non-disposable e-cigs. After stammering for a bit and trying to pass off my stammering as some sort of knowledge, I just ended up pointing at a pretty box.

I ended up with a Nexxus XL from gotvape.com. http://www.gotvape.com/vaporizer/essential-oil-pens/nexxus-essential-oil-vaporizer-reviews.html?n=all

Got it home, let it charge and was unpleasantly surprised to find it's a manual battery. After smoking nothing but blucigs, I didn't even know manual ecigs existed. Will I get used to the manual style? Do most people go manual or automatic?

This came with two cartomizers and two batteries rated for 800 puffs per charge and 300 charges. I figure both of those numbers are optimistic, but we shall see. I'm more curious as to how many uses people get out of a cartomizer and what is the best way to clean them. Replacement clearomizers run 13 bucks a pop, so I'd prefer to get at least a week out of them.

This place made it's own juice under the eliquidplanet.com name and I picked up 2 tobacco, a caramel, a vanilla and a whiskey, all 18mg. I had slipped into information overload and neglected to check the PG/VG ratio. I feel like I'm getting more of a throat hit and less vapor than off of a blucig. I know I can add glycerine to increase the vapor. How much should I add per 5ml syringe? The 18mg tobacco flavor is giving me a strong throat hit (maybe too much, coughed my ### off the first hit I took.)

As dumb as it sounds, I have 6 Marlboro Lights left and want them to be the last six I smoke. It'd be such a blessing to be totally cigarette free. Thanks for all the help and inspiration in this thread.

Good luck, Gawain! I won't speak to most of your post because having kept up with this thread I know there are many more qualified. I much preferred the manuals though, and think most folks did when I was vaping. Turned another friend onto it who has successfully quit too. The brand that worked for me is the eGo-t and I pretty well locked onto that for the duration.

That's not a bad set up. I'd ditch those clearomizers and go with the Kanger Evod BCC's. Kanger makes some of the sweetest products around and I'm rocking one at this very moment on the same style battery that you have. They're only $6 a pop for the Evod and you only have to replace the head/coil on the inside, which run at $2 a piece or so. It's much cheaper than using the clearomizer you have and it's a way better vape. Just make sure you order the 1.8 ohm replacement heads. Those are a match made in heaven for the batteries you have.

Replacement heads: http://www.discountvapers.com/kanger-evod-protank-coil-replacement-5-pack-1-8-ohms/

The heads are cheaper than I thought. For the price of one clearomizer you can get an evod and five replacement coils. As long as nothing happens to the actual Evod, there's no reason that shouldn't last you over a month.

Agree with Gadabout about the Kanger EVOD, it's a fine topper.

I am not that concerned with TH but I do like some vapor. With PG juices you get max flavor, with VG juices you get more vapor production. I go 50/50 on all juices when I first buy (if available, Tribeca is 100% PG and Boba's Bounty is 100% VG for example) and then adjust accordingly if I reorder. Many of the fruit juices and sweeter juices (I like caramel juices) I go 70/30 PG/VG, with most of the rest I go 50/50 which includes tobacco flavors.

800 puffs per charge is pretty good, maybe a 2000mAh battery? I get about 1000 from a itaste MVP before charging, and that is generally considered one of the best mods for battery life out there. Regardless, you always want a manual battery IMO. You want to control the action, not have the battery do it for you.

I still find the most difficult thing in changing over from smoking to vaping to be the juices. I think it is absolutely key to find the flavors that break you from smoking, then find the flavors that keep you off long-term. I am finally going back to tobacco flavors after more than three months smoke-free, I find the really good RY4s to be particularly exceptional.

Anyway good luck. One good thing about this "hobby" is that there is a ton of info out there that is really good, to include a ####load of youtube stuff. A lot of it is really enlightening, and the support groups out there are pretty solid.

Another thing is I don't really understand people who spend a lot of :moneybag: on mods; Vamos and Teslas and everything else. To me the juices and the juice vessels are what is really key. Finding the right topper on a battery that can run the juice is all you need. A 650mAh vv eGo battery handles an EVOD as well as a VAMO for most of the life of the battery. You need a mod for dripping and cartos but for the most part you can use the smaller batteries and Vision Spinners and eGo Twists for as long as they work for you. I don't hate on those buying 20 mods though, do what works for you.

In three months I have spent about 60% of the money on juices, 20% on toppers (carto tanks, clearos, evods, dripper) and 20% on mods/batteries. I'm gonna buy a REO this fall, but I don't see any need for having anything more than a bunch of eGo vv batteries and a couple of itaste MVPs (because I like the form factor and the battery life). Then you go Provari, REO or some of the higher end mechanicals from there. All this middling is well...middling.

I do think variable voltage is important though, I don't need variable wattage because I can do the math on ohms law and I don't need an ohm checker because I am not rebuilding coils and the like right now. At some point I might, but not right now. Mobility and practicality are also key for me, hence my affinity for the eGo-style batteries and my Mods being the MVPs (I have tried the Vamo, Bolt, Provari and Zmax for periods of time FWIW).

Vari-watt > vari-volt. I can do the math too, but variwatt gives you more fine tuning control. Easier to get the punch you want without the juice tasting burnt. Also not sure what you consider to be "a lot of money," but you cam get a VW Vamo for under 40 bucks. The REO is going to cost you 3 times that at least, and the atties that work best with it are $9 a pop compared to the $1.10 for coil heads I use on my SID.

Plus, Ohm's Law gives you a result in AMPS, not watts when you perform the V/R equation. I'm certainly no electricity expert, but I have found VW more helpful than VV when trying to dial in a flavor.

Thanks for this info. Even though I've been vaping for over 2 years when I read the descriptions about what some people use it sounds like one has to be an electronic engineer to understand it. I'm fine with my ego batt and tube tank so what you described may be a nice step up. I can actually understand it!

This chart seems to be a good guide.

I am getting a VW device next week (Itaste MVP 2.0 on the way), so I'll check it out. The thing that is nice about VW is that you can lock it in to your vaping desire and get around the same heat and result when you change the topper out. The convenience part of it seems like the biggest benefit no?
