Eli Manning is just horrific... (1 Viewer)

He was almost unbearable to watch today. Zero pocket presence. Blitz and you get a sack. His accuracy is just brutal. Coulda had 2 TD's to Cruz - throws behind him on a pass that should have led him over the middle and then on a flare pass where nobody was within 15 yards, hence no reason to lead, throw to the back shoulder, etc - just him in between the freakin' #'s, he misses Cruz so bad he doesn't even get a hand on it.

Can't stand watching him. The pick 6 was brutal, his circa 70's porn moustache is horrible, that dumb freakin' look on his face when a receiver does a down and out and he throws a down and in 10X a game is priceless.

Amazing after watching him the last 2 years that this guy could have won 2 SB's.

Think the same thing everytime I've watched him this year.

Probably the minority opinion given he's got NY 2 SB's & probably will get to stay there until he no longer wants to play there, but I'd look to deal the guy. Some team out there will give a couple of high picks.

His accuracy is just horrific. I think he's giving Carson Palmer a run for his money as most washed up veteran starting QB in the league.

Yup, even if it's one the easiest match ups of the year, he still manages to severely underperform. You'd think with three talented receivers and a newfound running game, you'd at least get average numbers out of him. Shame on me for giving him a second chance.

I have no choice but to keep rolling him out there because of the league I'm in (long story). All I needed was an OK game from him this week and I would've won. He can't put up numbers against bad teams even!

This guy is NOT a HOF QB regardless of his pulling two SB's out of his #### due to the NYG D. If this clown gets in it will be a joke. <_<

I notice this thread with a provocative title calling a 2 time SB champion QB the suck has only 6 replies over a month's time. I guess the ambivalence one way or the other is the SP's ratification that the OP is correct.

moving on....

:coffee:

Eli is horrible this year. The worst part about it is that he's had a very easy schedule against the pass. He still stunk.

There is no creativity from KillDrive. Same old plays over and over. Everyone knows what they are doing. If Killdrive is still the OC in 2014, nothing will change.

I’m not the biggest fan of Gilbride but if the offensive line has been atrocious this year. If the Giants can improve the line Eli will be able to put up decent numbers in Gilbride’s system

I just have a feeling it's going to come out that he was hurt all year.

He looks skinny and out of shape. Chicken neck and legs.

Time to hit the weight room Eli you look like a kicker.

They have a statue running "the Green Bay offense" ...

Rodgers has success because he's incredibly mobile and can make plays on the run. Of course, being Aaron Rodgers doesn't hurt either.

He's got at least one more INT in him to close out the game. I have faith. I'm betting he approaches 30 INTs on the season after 27 last year. So over rated.

With Ben McAdoo taking over the reigns of the offense and Danny Langsdorf taking over as the new quarterbacks coach, Eli Manning has a chance to thrive in the team’s new system. Langsdorf told reporters that he’s set a lofty goal for Manning in 2014: complete 70% of his passes.
18-33 tonight.

Almost there.

FYP. I think he meant 70 passes, not 70% More realistic goal.

Hey now. You'll notice McAdoo never said that the 70% of completions had to be to guys in Giants jerseys.

Add in the INTs, catches by sideline ballboys, and deliveries to fans in the fifth row behind the end zone, and Eli's uniquely qualified to make a run at 70%.

The Int where he threw it up moving in the other direction looked like a pass from a high school QB - A bad high school QB i might add.

He's never been great, but when he had a great O-line and stud RBs, he was able to excel. Down the stretch of the two Super Bowl seasons, he was clutch. Made plays you didn't think he could make. Definitely had luck on his side more than once.

Now, no protection, mediocre supporting cast, he's exposed. It's not pretty folks, it's not pretty at all. It's crazy to think that a few years ago some people thought he could be a hall of famer.

For many years as a Giants fan I have tried to be an Eli supporter, but I agree with a lot of this. You have to build the team around Eli and his skillset, or it aint gonna work. A panicky, unprotected Eli does not work. Colin Kaepernick, he is not.

This is the price we pay for those two Super Bowls. You've gotta pay the franchise QB an obscene amount to keep him around, since drafting one is such a crapshoot. So he's killing your salary cap when he's in decline, and you can't afford to keep good players at other positions, so it just keeps getting worse. How many $10 million+ per year players can you carry and have enough left for average to above average veterans who earn in the $1-5 million range? 53 man roster, that money gets used up quick.

Eli is not that expensive, and has been willing to restructure to keep players around. There's no way he gets benched, but ... a fake injury would not surprise me.

There was a play tonight where Eli was flushed out of the pocket, Rashad Jennings improvised a curl route and came back and was wide open, but Eli tossed it to Jernigan, who was maybe 10 yards deeper, but covered. Jump ball for Jernigan went incomplete, quick pass to Jennings would have been a first down. Just a straight up, bad decision.

I dunno man. Something has to change.

Two fantasy relevant questions come to mind:

1) What are the chances that the organization benches Eli this year?

2) Does Nassib have a real shot at being a legitimate NFL starter if/when Eli gets yanked?

I feel like the chances that #1 comes to pass are pretty low. I think the organization gives Eli a lot of rope given that there is a new offense being implemented and his surrounding cast is struggling as well.

I've only seen a relative handful of Nassib's preseason work, so I can't add much as far as #2 goes.

Zero percent chance he gets benched, but like I said, fake injury possible. Give Nassib a chance.

He might do better. Might be a controversy, but the protection needs to get better for either of them to be fantasy relevant this year.

I got stuck with this guy as my QB in a 32 tm league where we incorporate "Team QB". So my only hope is that he gets hurt or vanishes and they roll with Nassib. So sick of this guy only scoring me single digits or NEGATIVE POINTS (since we get penalized for turnovers)!

And ofcourse he has ZERO trade value. He's worth less than the Jacksonville QB!
