Ellis has been after this FOREVER and is still recovering from a major injury..... I'm shocked!

Rotoworld) Cowboys signed OLB Greg Ellis to a restructured contract.

Impact: Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but it's likely that Ellis was given a good sum of money up front. The 32-year-old returned to the lineup Sunday to work in passing situations, and racked up 1.5 sacks off the bench.

From the Cowboys blog

Superstar columnist Jean-Jacques Taylor reports that Jerry reworked Greg Ellis' contract over the weekend.JJT doesn't have the dollar figures nailed down, but the Cowboys made it clear that they're committed to Ellis beyond this season. Ellis has an insurance policy that allowed him to play four games before deciding whether to retire and collect insurance money for a career-ending injury or continue playing, forfeiting any future claims. "If things didn't go well today," Ellis said, "what Jerry did was show me that they just weren't going to throw me away like trash." Earlier this week, Ellis told coach Wade Phillips and Jones that he wasn't healthy enough to start the four-game process. On Saturday morning, Jones arrived at Ellis' home and hammered out a deal, which had to be finalized by 3 p.m. to go into effect for Sunday's game. Ellis got the peace of mind he's wanted so badly. In return, the Cowboys got their second-best pass rusher back on the field.
That's a strange situation.

Exactly.I've NEVER seen a situation play out like this. Certainly sets a strange precedent if you're a Cowboy player now and have a disagreement with the franchise.
