Employment closing down (1 Viewer)

I found out last night that my place of Employment  is going to be closing.  Not sure on the date, but it will be 30 days at the most.  I have a job at one of our other stores waiting for me because I have been with the owner for over 20 years in some capacity at different locations, but some of the others at my work may not have employment.  We are a small business so there aren't many employees (10 total including myself) but it sucks being at work and looking at them while trying to act like nothing has changed when I know that a lot is going to change.  My gut is churrning from the knowing while everyone else doesn't, but also from the unknown going forward.

Just wanted to get that off my chest, thank you.

What is the reason you can't tell them?
Because they are still finalizing moving the franchise to the other location so they are not exactly sure on the date yet.  The one owner knew that I had a feeling something was up because as a manger I get the financial statement every month so I knew things haven't been good the last 6 months and have tried talking to him about it.  The  co-owner didn't want to tell anyone, but the one that talked to me said that he wanted to assure me that I will have a position at the other location.  He is going to offer positions to other people, but not everyone.  Like I said I have been with him a long time and am kind of like the son he never had, and I appreciate very much him telling me, but yet part of me wishes he wouldn't have.

Its nice to hear that at least you'll be landing on your feet.  Sorry about your coworkers though.

Even with that assurance,  I might just brush off the resume and make it up to date now. Better safe than sorry and hopefully you will not need yours, but if for some reason you do, you might as well be ready.

hey brohan best wishes to you and yours i hope that you hit the ground running in the new place and that it works out well best wishes take care and take that to the bank

Sorry to hear that. Out of curiosity what industry and state?

Sometimes change is good. Getting laid off 15 years ago was probably the best thing that could have happened to me. Stay positive and "become like water my friend". Good luck.

Automotive, Iowa.

Found out that today is the day.  The licensing has been switched over to the other location and the Franchise move is in the works.  We will probably be open in the shop a couple more days to get everything wrapped up on the schedule, but Vehicles can't be sold from this location anymore.
