End of Rd 1 Early 2nd RB (1 Viewer)

Forte- Rumors he might get GL looks this year, best of the bunch?

Ridley- Should be a lock for 1,000/10 but how much does Vereen cut in to his production?

SJax- Finally on a high potent offense but has the tread worn off the wheels?

CJ2K- Which CJ shows up? Boom or bust. Seems risky in the 2nd.

Thoughts?

Liking Forte, Ridley and Johnson as RB2 options if they fall to me. I personally think Johnson has some upside this year with a revamp OLine. S.Jackson scares me a little in that Falcons offense, I would rather let someone else draft him.

depends on your scoring system... if points per reception i would definitely go with Matt Forte. He could easily catch 80 balls in that system this year. I think he makes a strong case for non-ppr leagues as well due to the amount of receiving yardage he will get and i would imagine more opportunities in the redzone.

Chris Johnson is definitely the ideal #2 RB this year because he could easily pop back into the top 5, and give you a few huge weeks throughout the season. The question with him has always been consistency, and you either have to believe in the new and improved offensive line or think that TN will suck and you will get a similar Johnson to the last couple of years. I am betting we could see a 1500 yd rushing season out of him because I believe with the improved offensive line he will have more of those big runs.

I was buying in on Forte until I looked up his numbers inside the opponents 5, any down. He's scored on about 18% of attempts (10/56), where Bush was 5/7 last year, and 40% (16/40) in his career. The results are similar if you take it in to the 3 (Forte 9/40 [22.5%] Bush 18/35 [51.4%]). Those numbers may mean nothing, but I take them to add statistical support to the claim that Forte isn't a good goal line back. If he continues to perform like that down there, I have to believe it won't be long before Bush has his role back as the primary short yardage/goal line back. If it's PPR, I love Forte for the catches, not the potential GL work. In non ppr, he's probably the best choice here for the high potential total yardage, but it's not a confident pick for me.

I'm honestly scared of all 4 of them though. In non PPR, I feel pretty good about Ridley, but his lack of catches scares me in ppr. I haven't been comfortable with CJ1.2ishK in a while, and the Greene signing concerns me a bit about a GL vulture. Jackson just feels like there is really limited upside there. I love SJax in the late 2nd, early 3rd, but at that 1/2 wrap I want to be taking guys who I feel have top 6 upside at their position.

I have been trying to decide between Chris Johnson and sjax. Really close. I think those two are above forte and ridley...

MJD and Gore? More likely middle/late 2nd but can an arguement be made for either one of them?
Gore not really in this discussion IMO. MJD might be on the outer edges with significant upside. Gore's upside is the lowest of all the backs discussed ITT. I personally consider Gore a RB3 in 10/12 team leagues this year.

In the 11th/12th spot I'm always looking to pair up Forte and CJ2K. Outside of PPR it becomes a lot closer IMO but non-PPR doesn't really concern me.

I've been leaning SJax in ppr and Ridley in standard. I think they're both going to get a lot of TDs and that's what I want from my first round pick.

I got the 11th pick in my main money league 0.5 PPR. 12 teams

I'm going RB-RB, unless for some crazy reason Megatron is there at 11.

Assuming AP, Martin, Chrales, Foster, Lynch, Spiller, McCoy & Rice are gone... I'm taking best available

TRich

Morris

Forte

SJax

Ridley

CJ2K

Why no discussion on WRs?

I have the 12 hole in a big money league and my best case scenario is getting Dez and Marshall with my first two picks. (Adding before the thread derails to you must take an RB with one of those picks: I won this league last year going WR-WR-WR with my first three picks.)

Personally I just like what WR will still be available at 35 & 38 compared to what RB's will be there.

I guess it comes down to what would you rather have

Something like...

A. Morris

SJax

VJax

D.Bowe

or

Dez

Marshal

DMac

D. Wilson

I'd prefer the top option

agree with you..I'd rather a top WR like Fitz over a retread RB lke SJax or worse..

I'm taking David Wilson over Sjax Forte Mjd , etc.

Alfred Morris is a nice fit there, too

With everyone down on SJax, I'm surprised I don't see him dropping to the 3rd round...ever...in the mocks I've done...I'd be happy to snap him up in the 3rd, but, despite my man-crush on him, I have to admit I'm gunshy to pull the trigger in the 2nd.

I've said this before in the Jackson player spotlight. Michael Turner put 1,100 combined yards and 11 tds last year. That is Jackson's basement not floor. Jackson put up 1,400 total yards and 4 scores last year on a terrible Rams team. Most projections aren't even giving Jackson 10 Tds. Guys, Steven Jackson is putting up 1,500 total yards and 14+ tds this year. He will get at least 8 tds from pass interferences in the endzone resulting in 1st and goals on the 1. This situation is reminding me of the 2004 Curtis Martin rushing title season. I am happy to be in the minority with this opinion too.

One thing that worries me if I go RB-RB at 12, I am not getting an elite RB. I am getting two 2nd tier guys. I am also allowing elite WR to slip back down to the guys that DID get elite RB's.

I also dont like the idea of going into the season with NO elite talent at all. St Jax/Forte combo is decent but that gets me 2nd tier talent at WR too, even if I am lucky enough to get Vjax or the like.

I have done about 50 or so mocks at different web sites and the best team I have come away with was:

1.12- Forte

2.01- Dez or Green

3.12- David Wilson

4.01- Bowe

1.12- Dez

2.01- Marshall

3.12- Wilson

4.01- Lacy

1.12 Forte

2.01 St Jax

3.12- Bowe

4.01- Colston

I have been getting these teams pretty consistently.

gotta agree with you here.. and he is hungry to show what he can do with a great offense.... definitely top 5 potential at the end of the year.. scary to think.. but true

I like team 1 the best... and the seems to be a common theme for me. RB/WR rds 1 & 2 and same for 3 & 4 in whatever combination... gets the most elite talent at WR and best balance of RB's... and I think even more importantly it gets you that choice of the WR that you are high on in the 2nd round.. and not just left with whatever crap is there in the 3rd and 4th
